As Movement Demanding CNN Dump Him Grows, Dobbs Plays Victim

“First Amendment rights for all, people. No matter how odious the remarks.”

“Nobody is stopping him from standing on the street corner and spewing his garbage. Most of us would much rather listen to the news and not the consistent spin drivel this wimp puts out. I wonder his immigrant ancestors would have to say?”

“No one is suggesting that the Government make a law to deprive Dobbs of his right of free speech.
The First Amendment only addresses governmental interference to free speech. I can tell CNN I'm sick of Dobbs' bigotry all I want and they, in turn, may fire him and Lou's First Amendment rights will still be intact, nothing will have changed.”

“No one is disagreeing with you. The author is just pointing out that Dobbs doesn't have the right to use his public platform to spread propaganda and lies. His opinions should never be passed off as facts. He has a right to his own opinions, but not his own facts. CNN should not be allowed to continue calling themselves the "most trusted name in news" any more than FOX should be able to bill themselves "fair and balanced." This is false advertising and it is illegal, as far as I'm concerned.
These groups of people who are protesting Dobbs and FOX News do not have a public platform, but they have just as much right to have their voices heard and to state their opinions. When you have your own pulpit, you can spout off to your heart's content with nothing to back it up. But, NOT when you represent an allegedly "legitimate" news organization! That crosses the line.”

“Since when does the constitution guarantee Lou Dobbs a job at CNN? Could you show me that clause. I must have missed it.”
GEICO Pulls Its Ads from Glenn Beck Show
Commented Aug 11, 2009 at 17:29:22 in Media
“Glenn Beck has low ratings. These companies won't notice any hit to sales by not advertising on his show. This is not a courageous move. If they really want to walk the talk, they should pull ads from Rush, Bill and Sean.”

“Is it a leap to suggest that these yahoos were just more of those angry whites? This is the Republican strategy,”
Demonizing Joe Jackson
Commented Jun 30, 2009 at 17:53:36 in Entertainment
“Not buying your logic there, Earl. What Joe did was not alright back then or now. That there would have been no Michael without Joe may be true, but it is arguable. No one needs to shed any tears for him; Joe has eight other kids who will keep him off the streets.”
ithacus-rising replied on Jun 30, 2009 at 21:58:48
“Agreed. Earl is a pontificating, smarmy puff of gas who obviously cannot recognize evil when slaps the public right in the face. Joe Jackson is a selfish, disgusting SOB. I hope he departs this earth soon and rots in hell from whence he came. He obviously had no love for his son, and that is a sin.”

“My teary moment came when some interviewer asked her how this fame would change her life, to which she answered, "I won't be lonely anymore." Hopefully someone will protect her from all the hucksters and hangers on.”

“absolutely ... I'm sure Simon will be keeping a short leash on her when she wins at the end. The cash register rings every time she sings a note.
I'm very curious as to her next song choice. She will need to keep with the inspirational theme.
Maybe "The Impossible Dream"!”

Palin on SNL: What Did You Expect?
Commented Oct 20, 2008 at 13:00:42 in Entertainment
“Thank you, Alec, for putting things in perspective. I was one of those who wrote SNL asking them to rethink putting Palin on. But, the skits were funny and she did well. Loved the moose. I need to regain my sense of humor.”
