We need IGNORANT ideologists to determine the politically correct (rightwing) result so we can get the result we want. But, look up Lamarck -- the Stalinist communists agreed with that fact-free approach. And, Mao's "Cultural Revolution" also went in your direction....”

Yikes! Controversial New Yorker Cover Shows Muslim, Flag-Burning, Osama-Loving, Fist-Bumping Obama

Commented Jul 14, 2008 at 11:03:57 in Media

“Take it easy. This is just The New Yorker trying to sell mags by joining (nuanced "satirizing") the devolution of our campaigns into feces slinging contests.

Their next cover is going to be a picture of Cindy McCain popping pills, McCain yelling the "C word" at her while his first wife lies in a heap behind him crying on the floor.

No, wait....that has some factual basis and crosses the line.

I can see it now. Fox News exploits the New Yorker Obama cover to insinuate the following to their "low information" nimrod viewers: "Even the liberal rag The New Yorker features this cover picture of the Obamas. Has the liberal media finally caught on to the Muslim b. HUSSEIN obama bin Laden and his angry, terrorist wife?"”

westcoastsc on Jul 14, 2008 at 12:14:08

“They have repeated "liberal media" so many times that you believe it. Five corporations run almost all the media that matters in this country. Liberal media is the biggest lie that ever existed and allowed the Bushes to run around doing anything they want without the media fulfilling its obligations to the public. The New Yorker has to make money like anybody else, but I really hope this sensationalism and this portrayal which will surely be hijacked by the forces who want to play the fear card against a black man will come back to hurt them, a backlash of some considerable force of which they so richly deserve.”

frappe on Jul 14, 2008 at 11:30:25

“You know, what troubles me the most is that despite the ridiculousness of your premise -- that Fox News will somehow manage to portray the cover as legitimate criticism of the Obamas -- is that they will actually make the attempt in some way, shape, or manner and will probably succeed to some extent.”

“So here's THE PLAN:

Hillary keeps running, whacking away at Obama and the Democratic Party Rules Committee. She will deficit finance this and, later, hold up the Obama Campaign and the Democratic Party to pay for it.

In exchange for the extortion money, she will go through the motions of "healing the Party", all the while positioning herself for a McCain victory and a run in 2012.

Farfetched? I think not.”

keriheb on May 21, 2008 at 09:06:43

“Bodoc, is a wizard, a 2008 soothsayer.

This is the plan just like a disgruntled wife, squandering the family money before the divorce. Destroy the assets, hamstring the party before the election financially, racially, with civil war between the feminists who are HRC supporters and set up McWar to win.

HILLARY HAS A SCIZOPHRENIC AGENDA: her personal ambition and the ambition of her supporters. HRC's agenda is to be president. The agenda of her handlers is to go to war against Iran.

The party needs to cut its losses and let HRC sink in her own debt, let her supporters become Repugs or start another party. The Democrats should build a new Democratic base out of the ashes of this mayhem. Considering both parties have to rebuild themselves, the Dems would be in a better position with Obama than the Repugs are going to be with McWar!

The dems don't need the big money supporters from the past and let the party represent the base with their smaller donations that won Obama the nomination.

CUT HILLARY AND HER SUPPORTS OUT OF THE PARTY AND END THE DISCUSSION.

Since HRC is a NYSenator say it to her the way it would be said in NY by a cabbie.

"Sit down and shut up or GET THE F$$$ OUT!"”
Exit Polls: Kentucky's 'Elites' Favor Clinton

Exit Polls: Kentucky's 'Elites' Favor Clinton

Commented May 20, 2008 at 23:19:44 in Politics

“Looking at the high percentage of Kentucky Clinton supporters who claim they would vote for McCain over Obama --

The divisions are clearly not about policy, as Obama is far closer to Clinton than McCain is on matters of policy.

The Southern tradition of rich white guys successfully conning poor white folk into fearing the OTHER (blacks, Yankees, elites, etc) is alive and well. It was effective in the Civil War (poor white guys who owned next to nothing motivated to fight and die for the right of rich plantation owners to keep their slaves and privileges).

It is effective now -- rich white power elites convincing poor white folk that Willie Horton, Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama want to take their stuff and assault their families.

What would CHANGE be? A critical mass of white America waking up to the same old scam and voting without FEAR. America is in he 21st Century facing 21st century problems calling for 21st century leadership that understands the 21st century world.

Obama not only speaks to this new world order -- his biography embodies it.”

“Your comments are precisely why I have lost respect for Hillary. IMO, she used the people in those Appalachia states. She pretended to be one of "them" just to get their votes. She never once said anything about racism being wrong. She had plenty to say about sexism, but nothing about racism. I think it would be a travesty to put her on the ticket.”

Hillary Clinton's Defeat: A Historic Triumph

Commented May 19, 2008 at 18:26:16 in Politics

“Ms. Jong parrots a purely empty talking point. Hillary has a lot more explaining, renouncing and denouncing to do.

Mrs. Clinton is in the unenviable position of having to explain Bill's outrageous Presidential pardons and her brother's paid (and successful) lobbying for them and Bill's huge 2005 Kazhakstan mining deal for his $100 million donor (Frank Giustra). Hillary has her own explaining to do about her membership in the Capitol Hill Christian power cult "The Fellowship Foundation" (also called "The Family"). This group's history includes cozy relations with dictators, fascists and union busters. Her own past with Communists and radicals in the 1960's will be brought up, her relationships with lobbyists, her past with the Rose Law Firm, etc, etc.

Hillary hasn't YET gotten a grilling. And Americans do not want a sequel of Bush (McCain) or Clintons.

We are ready to turn the page, even if older, enlightened feminists are comfortable uniting with their less educated white rural brethren who need to vote against the scary black, Muslim, Hussein guy who "isn't like them."

Apart from Obama's clear positives, should Hillary win the Primary and the General elections, we will be witness to: Clinton Drama II -- the flaming Swiftboat to the Whitehouse leading to Clinton III -- more Bill and donors in the Whitehouse and then, iinevitably, to Clinton iV -- the next round of outrageous pardons.”

“Obama himself has given Webb play on the issue of the New GI Bill. It sure sounds like he is the front runner.

Webb would have huge appeal to constituencies that allegedly have some problems with Obama. He has the moral authority to take on McCain and the Republicans on Iraq and how the GOP has screwed the troops. He also has great past experience, Southern cred and a professional resume' to complete what the ticket might be missing.

Hillary has disqualified herself with "the kitchen sink strategy." It's not that the Republicans needed to learn Rovian tactics from Bill and her. They would USE the Clintons' actual commercials and recorded quotes against Obama in some obvious ads. To wit:

"Hillary Clinton, the Democrat's own Vice Presidential candidate, said this about Barack Obama --- etcetc"

Getting Swiftboated by your own campaign would make the Democrats look transcendentally STUPID.”

Obama Camp Faces Major Obstacles In Plan To Help Clinton Pay Off Debt

Commented May 8, 2008 at 22:08:45 in Politics

“Paying Clinton's debts would look like a pay-off. Her request for such a payment would look like extortion.

People on limited incomes are donating to the Obama campaign. I am donating to the Obama campaign from my disability checks. Using these small donations to reimburse a person who has more than $100million in the bank and has no qualms about sewing racial (and Party) division is not CHANGE.

Not standing up to Clinton extortion will be termed WEAK and UNPRINCIPLED by Republicans.

Can't you see the McCain commercials?

"Barack Obama blinked and paid off Hillary Clinton. Do you trust him to stand up to al Qaeda?"

Or...."Democrat Barack Obama betrayed his own donors. He will betray you."

Mr. Obama should not even THINK of going there.”

aspengirl on May 9, 2008 at 06:24:26

“Agree 100 percent. Doesn't she have the extra "cajone" that Carville so foolishly pointed out last week to resolve her own financial mess? Can't she take care of the debts that she sanctioned? She and Bill are enormously wealthy - either write a check (less the $11.4 million they contributed to her campaign) or have Bill go on a $100k/speech speaking tour.”

rockyroad on May 9, 2008 at 01:48:53

“Yeah, damn disappointing. Your collective contributions wouldn't buy two flower arrangements for Hillary. The only reason she is continuing is to rack up leverage against Obama. . . I suspect that she has Supreme Court aspirations. At this point, when she calling her supporters undereducated bigots, I'm not thinking that I want her on the Supreme Court, I certainly don't want to pay her bills and will croak before I vote for a ticket that includes her as vice president.

Tim Russert is wildly out of line here. He needs to issue a retraction and probably take a little unpaid leave.”
