“Wouldn't allow me to reply directly to someone's comment so, to the people calling for Obama to go further:
Single payer option is the equivalent of socialism, just like in the article it's mentioned this makes us similar to other so-called "advanced" nations. What I fail to grasp is that we are the greatest nation on Earth, people everywhere envy us and want to live here for the opportunity to live the "American Dream", so why in the world would we want to try to adopt other, inferior nation's policies? If what liberals want is socialism or to be like other nations, then move to those countries! You have plenty of other options. Don't ruin what makes America great and one of a kind for everyone else. No one is making you stay here in the horrible, gasp, freedom!”

“Freedom is quickly disappearing. And yes I agree move on and get in line and wait for your surgery ...etc etc etc....or never mind coming soon to America. When are people going to understand nothing is FREE and if left to be financed and managed within government is quickly corrupted.”

“The Health Care system in the US sucks. It's just horrible. Why can't you see that? You can't have a for profit health care system. No country wants a health care system like we have.”

“This is what they do... they live their liberal states for a better life. After they get down south they want to try and change what made it great in the first place.... i mean, so many people retire and move up north.”
“I'm not saying there is anything that I can do about it. That's the beauty of America and being a democracy is that you have the FREEDOM to do as you please and to have your own opinion. But I have to ask why you feel that way? What really makes you believe that socialism is right?”
“This is a democracy, not a socialist nation. You have every right to go out there and make your own fortune, stop trying to steal others. Why do you deserve someone else's success? And besides, if there are no rich then who starts businesses, who employs others? The government alone? That's a scary thought.
"A government big enough to give you everything you need, is a government big enough to take away everything that you have...." - Thomas Jefferson”

“Whatever. I will fight for democratic socialism in America, and I will always vote for the most socialist candidate, and there is nothing you can do about it.”
“Maybe it should be the people's choice when they decide to go to the hospital? If you choose not to go to the doctor for "preventative" care, then that's your business. I would think all those people with health insurance who go to the doctor for every little sneeze rack up way more insane, unneeded hospital bills and make everything cost more than the uninsured person who goes to the hospital only once in the last 10 years. I haven't had health insurance for at least the last 5 years, and in that time I've only gone to the doctor once and I paid in full in cash at that time. I don't think I'm costing anyone anything extra just because I don't have health care, but if you make me pay for health care that I don't use and you do a thousand times a year? That's fair?
But either way, the main point that I have as a conservative is that buying health care or anything else should never be something we are FORCED to do, like Obamacare does. Anything that is an "individual mandate" is unconstitutional. Plain and simple. Privatize healthcare and make it more competitive. That's the basis of what America's market is supposed to be. It's not the government's responsibility to make sure everyone has healthcare, or to feed and clothe us. That's everyone's individual responsiblilty. We need more freedom, less micromangaging, "we know better than you how to live your life", too big government.”
“Just because we come together in a tragedy and times of need, does not mean that we just should blindly follow someone's (Obama administration) opinion just because they said it first. Anyone in America whose first reaction was to in any way, shape, or form apologize for making terrorist attackers, who killed Americans, angry or offended is just dead wrong. Romney was right in everything he stated and someone needed to say it, I'm glad he did. Obama couldn't even be bothered to take a day off the campaign trail on the day of such a tragedy to do his job or focus on the ongoing issue, that's our so called "Commander In Chief" for you.”
“This is supposed to be a FREE country, correct? So people who don't believe being gay is right have the right to believe that and say it as much as they want just like gay people have the right to be gay and support it as much as they want. This society has got to get over trying make everyone tolerant and accepting of everything out there. That's never going to happen, there are always going to be people who disagree over things and dislike how others choose to live. That's supposed to be the beauty of this country. As long their disagreements don't physically hurt other people or interfere with their rights that the Constitution gives us, then it's no one's business. They're not saying that they want to start a witch hunt for all gays, they're just saying it's not what they support. If you are gay and so uptight and offended then don't eat Chick-Fil-A, no one's trying to force you to. I have respect for anyone on any side that has the courage and strength to stand by what they believe. If you believe you are doing right by what you believe in then you shouldn't be so easily offended and outraged. Grow up, people.”
“That's every politician, therefore a very weak argument. Example: I seem to remember Obama's entire last campaign being all about "Change". How'd that work out for ya? Higher unemployment, higher gas prices, food prices.... Seriously, does anyone plan on asking him why all of his promises and plans didn't work out over these last four years? Why on earth would anyone believe the next four will be any different?”

“We have asked, we have had answers, biut you either didn't listen to the answers or ignore them because it is not what you want to hear.”
“I'm good with finding ways to avoid taxes. I mean seriously, are you saying if you were offered an alternative to pay less taxes you would say "No, I rightfully owe all this money to my country?" I sincerely doubt it. Everyone, rich and poor, are horribly overtaxed as it is.
It's unconstitutional that we're double, triple, quadruple taxed on the same money over and over. Income taxes themselves are unconstitutional and were struck down by our government as such until Prohibition came about. They needed to make up for all of the lost revenue from the alcohol taxes so they passed income taxes, and then back came the alcohol and the money with it, but what happened to the income taxes? The government got greedy. So if someone can get some of their own back and cut their taxes, then go for it. Most of our tax money is being completely wasted anyway, it'd be much more helpful if I could keep it for myself.”
“I never said that the loss of freedom was a new trend. It's been a long time coming, but I think that this administration is more determined than possibly any ever before to rip our freedom away from us. It's a politician thing, not necessarily a Democrat or Republican thing. Just a few things that come to mind that are in danger are religion, gun rights, privacy, the right to eat unhealthy. Not to mention many, many others.
A lot of people tend to disagree with me, but I even believe that certain drugs should be legalized, people are doing them regardless and they aren't hurting anyone but themselves. Make the penalties for driving under the influence strict, but otherwise there's not much risk. Helmets, seatbelts, etc...Smart idea to wear them, yes. The government's business to make us use them? No. There's many things that I think the government has overstepped their bounds on. Improve education quality? Yes. Require everyone to go to school? No. Troublemakers or students with absolutely no interest in learning are only hindering teachers and other students from doing better. Leave it up to the parents to decide if children have to go to school. I believe that it's a good idea, but as I said having them can hurt more than help. I would at least lower the required year to maybe the 8th grade. That way they know the basics to survive in the world.”
“As far as all of the religion haters on here. I don't care what you believe in, so stop caring so much about what I believe in. America is supposed to stand for freedom, the freedom to choose what to believe in was a major part of why America was founded in the first place. Religion has it's place in the world, just as science does. America doesn't stand for science, it stands for FREEDOM. So stop telling everyone to stop believing in God and to believe only in what science says is right. That's equally as bad as saying you could only learn about religion. As I said before, there are scientists out there that don't believe in evolution or global warming so stop treating it as a fact. They are THEORIES. I also don't think that school children should be put at a disadvantage by only being taught religion based beliefs or any onesided belief. I think that they should be taught all sides of any given matter and it should be left up to them and their family to decide what they believe to be true. It's none of your or the government's business to tell people what to believe in.”
CraigR on Oct 19, 2011 at 18:41:15
“Evolution is FACT. The theory of evolution refers to how it happens. Your lengthy diatribe is nonsense.”
Greta42 on Oct 19, 2011 at 18:10:12
“Teach your religion in your home/church/synagogue/mosque/temple - whatever. But keep it OUT of school curricula. Don't suggest that evolution is a theory - There are FACTS to support it. Don't change science, history textbooks to include fantasies about dinosaurs roaming the earth when people were on it. No one is preventing you from believing what you want - But Do NOT impose that on anyone else's children.”
Did I say that she is the best canidiate or a good candidate at all? No. I'm saying people make mistakes when speaking and it's not really that important to make news. Democrats have to make these mistakes as well. Major mistakes are reported on for both parties (sometimes), I'm just talking about slipups when speaking. I guarantee you I've probably done it ten times today alone, does that mean I'm completely unintelligent and everyone I know should be told? No. As far as a lot of other things she has said and believes, well I don't agree with them either. I think there are much better people out there to run for president.”
“So she made a mistake. Why does the liberal media jump all over Republicans every time they make the tiniest mistkae, but yet a Democrat never makes the news for anything like that? We're all human, we all make mistakes - so report both sides or let it go. Because really who cares?
And second, focus on this statement: "I support intelligent design," she told reporters at the conservative gathering, according to CNN. "What I support is putting all science on the table and then letting students decide. I don't think it's a good idea for government to come down on one side of scientific issue or another, when there is reasonable doubt on both sides." That part of what she talked about was brilliant and completely accurate. Part of the beauty of living in this country is the right and freedom to decide for yourself what you believe. Liberals are trying to force evolution and the green agenda down our throats when in reality no one knows if these things are correct or not. There are in fact scientists that stand on both sides of these issues, each side with theories that are worth looking into. Let's get away from making new laws and get back to the basics, back to freedom!”

“How can we not care? We have major issues with the level and quality of education in this country and we have a potential candidate for the leader of the USA who doesn't know geography. She doesn't have a computer to quickly research it? What's next from her mouth? That New Mexico is the capital of Mexico?”
Drew Duran on Oct 19, 2011 at 17:24:09
“No i am sorry but the number of scientists that disagree with Evolution is so marginal that even they would have to admit to that the probability that they are right is next to nil.
By the way just exactly how are you less free? You guys keep saying that but what happened on Jan 21 2009 , the day Bush left to Jan 22 2009 Obama's first day, that made you less free?”
Greta42 on Oct 19, 2011 at 17:08:39
“She is a science denier. She doesn't accept FACTS and wants to believe alternative suggestions, not facts. Only in America do we see candidates with this much religious baggage.”
sylvia wadlington on Oct 19, 2011 at 17:05:45
“The truth is that she makes mistakes everytime she speaks. Science is science and religious folk tales are not and I don't want American school children put at a disadvantage because some people read only the bible and nothing else.”

“"Who cares?"??? You cannot be serious. This is not just making a mistake. She wants to be the leader of the free world and she doesn't know basic geography. You don't have a problem with that?? The dumbing down of America continues.”

“These little mistakes matter. Once, a slip of the tongue. Twice, same... but it happens repeatedly.... on top of an entire day's campaigning arranged around Elvis music... and the idea that it was Elvis' birth day, when it was the day he died.
It's not just little slips.... it's her staff not double checking things. It's Ms. Bachmann not having things embedded in her brain that should be. If such things are not in her brain, she then has to wait for someone to explain things... even then, it may mean that she does not understand a lot of things that she should know.
My main concern is her grasp of Pakistan.... Do any of them understand the complexities and the risks there?”

“Like 999 does not raise tax's except it does on 84% of the people. Is that the little mistake you are referring to.”
“Funny, it's always the liberal media's reporting that stirs up anger in me. And I said it once and I'll say it again, our government has nothing to do with compassion. Want peace and love and compassion? Go find your mommy.”
“Ever heard of this thing called freedom of speech? Anyone who interferes with that I'm against, Republican or Democrat. He's beyond a traitor in my eyes and if you want to call me one for saying that, then go ahead. The President is not God and we have the right to call him and accuse him of whatever we want. That's a beauty of a free country (while we still have any freedom left).”
“Since when did a country's government have anything to do with compassion? The fact is we have problem with illegal immigrants (among many other things) sucking us dry and contributing to the national debt and the president is definitely far from what we need. He is the farthest thing from being a powerful, strong figure, a leader worth following. It's not the United States and taxpayer's responsibility to deal with illegal immigrants personal problems. If they want a chance to start over in the U.S. then they need to go about it the legal way, in congrunence with our laws and constitution. If they want compassion, then they need to go find their mother. And they should definitely not be granted any work permits when we have how many Americans without jobs? Find the illegals and kick em' out, along with Obama!”
“Please tell me this is sarcasm. There's no such thing as "modern marriage", marriage is marriage and without God involved then you really shouldn't use the term marriage in reference to it at all. Not that I care one way or the other of what anyone else believes is right or wrong, but there's no arguing what marriage is supposed to mean and stand for. Anything else should be classified under "relationship" at best.”
“That's true and I agree with you completely, but you also have to remember that just because one person in a marriage would be willing to do their everything to make it work the other person has to be just as willing. You can't make the other person care or try.”
“I'm a Republican and believe in the right to abortion, somewhat neutral on gay marriage rights, and don't really care if people choose to believe in evolution even though I don't. I do believe in small government and freedom though, which goes with what ch3n02junkie said. As a republican I stay away from things that go against my beliefs, live and let live as long as you're not hurting anyone but yourself. The right to bear arms, smoke, drink, eat unhealthily, marijuana are all examples of things I support rights for even though I don't smoke (right or left handed cigarettes) or maybe other things either. Stop trying to "protect" us from ourselves, which I really don't believe they have anyone's best interest at heart anyway even though that's what they try to preach. Politicians always have ulterior motives. Just get out of our business, please.”
“There should be a balance between telling them to "man up" and soothing them. They do have emotions the same as girls do, of course. But I don't believe you should baby girls eithers. Boys should be tougher than girls, it's a biological fact, and they should also be treated with kindness. We don't need to feminize our entire male population. And people also need to realize that not announcing your feelings for the world to see doesn't necessarily mean that you don't know what you're feeling and how to deal with it. People have been surviving for how long without shrinks? Men should be men and women should be women, stop saying that we need to be gender neutral. Emotional hurt, teasing, bullying, etc...is never going to go away no matter what anyone does.”
