Nancy Pelosi Warns Of Violence Over Heated Rhetoric, Chokes Up (VIDEO)

“Is there not a person here who doesn't believe that Pelosi is an honest to God human being regardless of her politics? I see an awful lot of what she is talking about in these comments, some of it barely disguised. I remember how I felt in 1968. It was a horrible year.. But I imagine most of the people denigrating Pelosi here are too young or not yet born and haven't a clue about how awful that year really was and a few subsequent years, or they have very selective memories. It was a year loaded with violence and hatred, some on the left, some on the right. Please listen to someone we can (I think, I hope) agree upon: Bill Cosby.”

“Everyone, and I meane everyone above the age of 6 YOA, should see the movie Good Night and Good Luck. See it with a parent or grandparent who knows something about the McCarthy era. I was about 6-7 YOA when the hearings were on TV and though I was too young to understand all the implications, I sensed that there was something very wrong. Every right winger should see it and watch carefully how McCarthy demegogued himself in to a position of far too much power using fear and intimidation, ruining the lives of countles people who may have blurted out the wrong thing at the wrong time, who had the wrong friends/relatives who became involved in what they thought were idealistic causes. (The mother in Father Knows Best!) We are seeing deja vu all over again and it's sickening. Thank God Beck, etc. are not in positions of political power, but the powere they wield is bad enough, maybe worse since the have larger audiences. Michele Bachmann wanted an investigation into the Americanism of Americans, and Rep.Joe Wilson who calls the President a liar in front of millions with absolutely no grounds. We are in trouble, people. We'd better get it together. And , yes, I did attend one of those town hall meetings where the folks with swastikas signs and Obama+Hitler sign shouted down the people who were there to ask real question, get answers and execise their democratic, American, Constitutional rights. It's frightening”

“No doubt, Huffmeister. Personally, I think it's an issue that could be looked at: an amendment that would allow a naturlized citizen to become president, but would have to be very stict in terms of how long the person had been a citizen or at what age he/she became a citizen. An infant bought to this country by immigrants would more than likely grow up "as American" as an infant born in this country to immigrants. But it won't be considered seriously soon. With folks like Lou Dobbs and Glenn Beck around, Ithink we can be sure of that.”

George Romney, Mitt's father, ran for prez and was born in Mexico. No one seemed to think that was a problem. There was one prez who was born either in Canada or a New England border state. That goes way back, though, before the border had been settled.”

It was a drug costing nearly my parents' entire yearly income, not covered by Medicare or their supplement plan. My Dad had to fudge his income on paper to qualify for the drug company to give it to them for free/ Their combined income on Social Security and a small pension was about $25,000/year. The MINIMUM effective dose of this drug in the U.S. costs $24,000/year. He felt as though he was "cheating", but my Mom was dying. All the fussing around and delay meant my mother got the drug too late. I wish they had acted on their first instincts and gone to Canada. I had been in touch with pharmacists up there, one of whom had a doctor for them and offered to help with housing, red tape and the rest-no waiting in line and no going banKrupt by the whole family!”

After two deployments to Iraq flying as a captain in the Marines, she had had it with the war, came home (Thank God! A few buddies didn't) voted for Kerry, and Obama and at the first opportunity transferred to the Coast Guard with a loss of two rank and a cut in pay because she still wanted to fly and stay in the military, but do something more positive. She now heads up a civilian volunteer group who have their own boats and are trained and overseen by the Coast Guard in search and rescue. It's a huge job-she works outrageous hours that the local authorities could not possibly put in and do the rest of their jobs.”

“The best BBQ I've ever had comes from a cookbook " Wide, Wide World of Texas Cooking". This is good on chicken, spareribs, short ribs, any good hunk of meat that will take long, slow patient cooking and frequent basting. It works on very meaty fish, too, with shorter cooking time of course. It' s a 3 "sauce" BBQ starting with a dry rubbing spice mixture left on the meat for at least 30 minutes before cooking. That is followed by a mopping sauce that we changed a bit from the cookbook based on chicory blended coffee, applejack, butter and Worcestershire sauce with a few other simple seasonings. Remember, patience: long and slow cooking and lots of basting. That is followed by a dipping sauce based on applejack, chicken stock, vinegar, Tabasco, lemon juice, onions, garlic , Worcestershire, bottled chili sauce (The ketchuppy kin, not hot) and several dry spices and thickened with a bit of flour. It's ONLY for dipping, as it would burn as a mopping sauce. I think the best we ever had was a whole sucklig pig. Yum! Plenty of room for creativity: bourbon is as good as applejack (you don't have to get the most expensive stuff)
or use apple juice if you are a teetotaller. The key is the three steps and patience..”

“The best BBQ I've ever had comes from a cook book called the "Wide,Wide World of Texas Cooking" and actually uses three steps (for chicken, spare ribs and short ribs, and probably other things like solid meaty fishes or whatever). It starts with a dry mixture of seasonings rubbed in and allowed to sit for at least 30 minutes. That is followed by a moppin sauce based on coffee, the kind with chicory if possible, Worcestershire sauce and a few other things, and applejack. Some of this is a change from the cookbook and comes from experimentation. The original recipe calls for ketchup, no applejack and plain coffee not chicory blended. The final step is dipping sauce which we changed to include applejack and also has ketchup, chili sauce, onions, vinegar and a number of spices and seasoning and even a little flour for thickening, that would burn if you used it as a mopping sauce. This is strictly for dipping. There is a lot of room for creativity, but the three step BBQ is the key. The applejack really is terrific, for example, but use bourbon or something else. We've done it with bourbon,
too and you don't have to spend a fortune on the best available. Yum! Try pork shoulder or whatever you want to, but long, slow patient cooking and plenty of basting is best for meats. I've never done it on a whole pig, though I've done whole pigs, and I Imagine it would be fabulous.”

“I understand, the DoJ needn't be in agreement with the White House to do their own investifagations. I can understand Obama's reluctance:. Look at Watergate, a two bit break-in. In this case the crimes make the Watergate burglaries look like a frat prank. Our attention should be directed at Eric Hiolder for legal action. I welcome any Congressional investigations, of course, with caveats. Impeaching Judge Bybee as a start. Hearings are great, but limited due to immuniyy necessities, etc. I will continue to write the President. I think he is realizing that the torture memos/policies are something the American people want to see openly debated, it's is too simple to say, we've stopped all that stuff, need to go on. But no! Remember slavery or internment of the Japanese during WWII? Terrible crimes!. The reponse to this post illustrates American feelings about this issue. I hope the memos are published for non-computer users!. I have been trying to read them, but it's excruciating to think my country would allow such things, like nightmares as a kid at the height of the Cold War: Siberian prisons, N. Korean &"Red" Chinese jails. Now we hear that two detainees, were waterboarded myriad times. How much more info can one expect after 50 waterboardings? Someone was enjoying the job! And it was happening BEFORE the memos! I"m writing the White House & DoJ now referring them to this post and people's responses. You?”

When people feel helpless, that they are not in control of their lives, they get scared and panicky, and as you say, irrational and then unpredictable. Beck may be certifiable, I don't know, I'm not a psychiatrist or psychologist, but people like him can certainly appeal to the certifiable.

“You all know, whatever your political leanings, that if the mission to save the captain had gone bad, hannity and friends would have been making just about the same amount of noise (gibberish) that they are now. From what I have heard and read, President Obama got no less than 17 briefings on the situation within acouple of days. He was "listening to his generals" being wise enough to know he doesn't know it all. His silence on the issue was imperative for it to have a chance of success, and he didn't come striding out to the podium in a Naval uniform when it was all over, crowing about the mission's success. He gave every credit possible to the people who actually executed the mission, just as he should have. And, yes, he is the Commander in Chief. The Navy requested the go ahead once they thought they had a good plan.He said "Go for it!" No naval (or any other) commander would responsibly take such action on his own. There is protocol in our military, and that is what keeps us safe from rogue military officers. President Obama handled it as I would have expected him to: No drama Obama " with credit going to where it was due. I am very proud! Hannity would not have been really happy unless the President had compltely failed. I don't agree much with Goldberg, but he was honest enough to say the right thing. Hurray for thinking Conservatives!”

Last year "my" Democratic Representative running for Senator, had meetings he called "Idea Raises", to dicuss greatest concerns. Health care always seemed to dominate. The stories I heard were beyond belief. One young woman was denied affordable health insurance because she had sneezy allergies! A healthy 22 year old, no other medical problems, expected to pay over $1000/month for health insurance, for a bad case of hay fever! I am infuriated by the shortsightedness of society and certain Democrats in particular. It's essential that Congress hear from us en masse, constantly, daily! I think President Obama "gets it", knows the window for real health care reform is small. “Abstinence as a birth control method is very weak among kids that age. Both of them should have been well schooled on proper, effective birth control methods. The parents on both sides are at least at great fault. They must have known that something was going on. But that is in the past. I want to hear that Levi is making an honest effort at contributing to the upbringing of his child, both monetarily and being there physically. Sounds like Bristol isn't doing much to alllow that., and that's too bad for the baby, and Sarah is not facilitating it at all. I have always believed that Sarah took advantage, or tried to, of the situation politically. Both of those kids were used. It's one of those sad,sad cases that happen every day. I am in touch with just such a situation, and the father of the baby in the case I know is not trying to be anywhere near as responsible as Levi seems to be. Sarah and Bristol should count themselves lucky. It's not the ideal situation, but ideal situations are few and far between in most areas of life. I wish I knew that everyone involved was thinking about the baby first. He is the victim in all this. He was no volunteer.”
