“Since I left Comerica Bank 7 years ago I haven't had one "funny" overdraft fee.
Their SOP was to run debits BEFORE credits.
They then collected the OD fees off the top of the deposit.
It was a racket that took me awhile to figure out. It didn't happen often and always took me aback but I was too busy to ask questions and assumed it was MY mistake until a teller told me it actually wasn't.

I switched banks and I was so glad I was banking at a hometown bank when I built my new home.
My 12 mos construction loan rolled into a 30yr 5 1/2% fixed rate mortgage loan AND it was considered subprime as I had sH i T credit in late 2005 and no one would touch me for less than 81/2%.

I know everyone in the bank and they know me by name and frankly I like that.
I needed a short term loan to bury my dad who passed suddenly intestate and we did it over the phone and since I had been sick they brought the papers to my house for me to sign and they deposited the money in my checking account.

No one who 'BOUGHT" the clothing wanted to see a less fortunate person wearing a suit they paid $250 for ...remember this was 1990 and back then a Louis Vuitton medium Speedy cost $200 so this was very nice clothing. They said RL did it that way so I guess they had to follow suit.

I agree that somehow we should have been able to just destroy the label and not harm the clothing but honestly I believe they were just snobs..nothing more, nothing less...and it was beneath them to actually help someone. They just wanted that donation receipt for the tax write off.

“Back in the 90's I worked as a store manager for a chain similar to Ann Taylor today. At corporates insistence our district manager had us cut the buttons off all the clothing or pull the tab off the zipper before we donated them to a charity.
The vast majority were returns that had been worn once but returned for any number of reasons...mostly because we had a no questions asked return policy and quite a few woman who enjoyed working the system. We couldn't re sell them as they were considered used clothing so they stacked up in the back room.
My district manager had to call a new charity every year because no one ever come back a second time for the buttonless "donations". It was pathetic.
We store managers tried unsuccessfully to lobby corporate to donate the clothing to a low income dress for success program. They refused.”
