“And then of course there's the Hermetic Kabbalah, which is only available via esoteric initiation and always at zero cost, but which is unattainable by the masses - which is by design, and part of the point.”

“Saw him on one of the ten-in-a-row dates for the previous record here in L.A. @ the Palladium. While the 'classic' factor is declining the performance and writing are getting better and more mature in other ways, and I agree that if he and Marr could reconnect in some meaningful fashion it will doubtless yield - if they can keep it together long enough - some amazing music on the one hand, and some great stories for the memoirs to boot - regardless of how it all pans out.

It's what the kids call a win-win. :)”

“As you said in your previous post, politics is theater. The fact that that statement is not merely true as metaphor but - also and far more importantly - as objective, quantifiable reality is indeed the kicker.

Sad to say, but methinks your crystal ball prediction for 2012 is the safest bet in town.”

Help Us Pick the HuffPost Game Changers: 100 People Who Are Using New Media to Change the World

Commented Sep 09, 2009 at 15:28:24 in Media

“WHO: Johnny Royal, CEO of Luthier Society, Inc.

WHAT: Technology

WHY: Archimedes

Luthier Society, Inc. (LSI) is the parent company of Luthier PR (LPR), a boutique multi-media public relations firm. But despite the success of LPR, Royal and LSI’s biggest success is their revolutionary software platform, Archimedes – operating now in beta, with ver 1.0 launching early 2010 – which will do nothing less than change the way the world does business online.

Archimedes is the world’s first fully comprehensive online market index for websites across all industries; it’s essentially the Dow Jones for the Internet. Working with partners including AT&T, Cisco, Verisign and Covad, Archimedes uses a proprietary methodology to first track internet traffic worldwide, then uses a series of value-weighted algorithms to interpret that data in numerous ways as a means to assign true values to Web-based social media, viral branding, advertising and commerce. The result is a ticker-based system akin to the Dow and other major world financial markets that uses real, verifiable and constantly updated measurements to assign true value to any company doing business online – providing universal data to buyers, sellers and agencies worldwide.”

“I worked with him once on a movie; very professional and focused, reserved but friendly, and a gentleman all around. Regardless of his inner life and/or demons, if more people in show business were as outwardly decent as he is in public and professional situations then there would be far fewer therapists and dealers in Hollywood, I can assure you.

Anyone in the public eye - and most especially anyone who's been as successful as he has for as long as he has - is not a carbon copy of their public persona when 'offstage', but then again most of us don't fully reveal ourselves to the world at large, either: our best friends know our secrets, our family knows where we really came from, and everyone else knows what we want them to know - if we're lucky, and have a good publicist. And in addition to loads of talent and Herculean drive, JBJ has both.”

The VF piece will prove to be just the tip of the iceberg for Sarah .............. Sarah must now be tossing and turning, and breaking out in a cold sweat in just trying to remember all of the "juicy Palin insider details" Levi was privy to, and wondering which details he will "share" in the book.

It's too late for Sarah when it comes to Levi ................... She should have been nicer to him, and she should not have publically attacked him ............ PAY BACK IS A B**CH.”

“Actually, nibblybits, this idea - that if you're not growing it yourself that you're getting it from (and therefore contributing to the profits and bloodshed of) the black market run by MS13 or the Ciudad or Juarez cartels - is not even remotely accurate: in a medical marijuana state like California - where most of the people on this list live, btw - the growing is done legally, under State law, on American-owned farms in tolerant counties in the North. There's no profit motive to work with the black market and there's no need to in the first place.

That's kind of the POINT of those who make the case for legalization at a Federal level: it works here, it can work elsewhere.

The issue of porous borders and the massive gang presence in my adopted home state is another one entirely, and has no connection to nor place in the legitimate, legally-approved MM industry as developed here.”
