Sonic And Chili's Announce No-Gun Policies

“It's a rather pathetic space to be in when a restaurant has to specifically say "NO GUNS ALLOWED". We don't live in Old West times, crime is at record lows, but, we somehow think it's necessary to carry a firearm everywhere we go.

This country is F'd up.”

“Like virtually every "hip" clothing store, there comes a point where you become a parody of yourself. UO has reached that point. They desperately try to force trends on their targeted demographic. It doesn't help that they over-estimated their own worth, with far too much expansion. One thing they do not understand about their targeted demographic, is that it is the anti-GAP/Abercrombie crowd. You can't simultaneously court that crowd and become as big as those chains.”

“It has nothing to do with reality, it's about the perception, and how it makes you feel. Patriotism is a false adjective, instilled in us to obey.”

RLaitres on May 26, 2014 at 17:33:09

“There is such a thing as "patriotism" but it someone who cares about an entire country and all of its people, one and all. However that requires that one knows and understand what this nation was really meant to be and that is people as human beings.. What goes for patriotism (and super-patriotism) today is little else than ultra-nationalism with nothing more than symbols (flags, songs, pledges) and people being used as totems, which serve only to make people "feel good".”

“With the Federal protection comes greater security and stability. I live in California and as recent as just a few years ago many, if not most, of our state parks were closed due to lack of funds due to cutbacks in the state budget from the recession. They were becoming a blight (trash, etc.) and a possible environmental disaster. That won't happen with federal protection.”

JN Scott on May 20, 2014 at 21:08:06

California gutted their budget because they have outspent themselves. New Mexico isn't in danger of that.
"That won't happen with federal protection." WRONG. Federal lands are just as trashed as state lands are. The difference is that state authorities are closer to the park than the thieves in the District of Columbia who could care less what happens in New Mexico, or Utah, or anywhere else.”

Seeing as how I live there, I happen to know that it didn't need "federal" protection, it's a state park now and it's been protected for some time. What this is is a federal land grab to take the revenue from the state.

And what's with asking DHS if it will interfere with their mission? No one from the Border Patrol has ever gone there looking for aliens, we've never worked that area. Talk about disingenuous.”

It seems as if you're only looking at it from you're own perspective, and not accepting that they truly are attracted to both men and women. I've known many bisexual men. When they are with a woman, they enjoy being 'top'. When they are with a man, they are looking to be 'bottom'. I may not understand it, but I don't dismiss them either.”

“While I'm not going to go so far and say that there isn't deceptive merchandising policies at the various outlet stores, there is, but all you have to do is take a good look at the merchandise on the racks and you'll know the shirt you have in your hand was never at the full-price Nordstrom, Saks, J. Crew, etc. You don't even have to be a savvy shopper to spot it. The quality is lesser, the styles are lesser and the selection is lesser. And this is ok. Only a small percentage can afford the prices the high-end stores charge. They know that their name is the selling point, not so much the clothing itself.”
