Obama's Nobel Peace Prize: Seems A Bit Premature, No?
Commented Oct 09, 2009 at 11:38:06 in Media
“Awarding President Obama the Noble Peace Prize has squarely put the responsibility of striving for world peace on the shoulders of a young President who represents the next generation of world leaders. A rallying cry of recognition for all who work in the day to day world for peace that a new generation of leadership has taken up the torch. An open hand after YEARS of a clenched fist.
Absolutely amazing that everyone doesn't get that.”

“Evan, you hit the nail on the head, you've knocked it out of the park. You have said everything that needs to be said...every word. There are those who's hearts are so small that they can't see that. They see an African American President and feel the fear of "socialized enslavement" because in their idiotic heads that's what they maybe deserve. Those of us who voted for the Obama administration, just in case we find ourselves starting to worry about all the negativity of the "Angry Mob", we should remember England's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America, he said: "A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in and how many want out." We'll be one of the last democratic nations to offer Universal Health Care. And we'll take the rest of our fellow Americans kicking and screaming all the way, they really don't deserve it so good.”

“There were several ways to establish a blood Covenant. The two parties agreed upon the terms, they either slit their palms and joined hands or slit their wrist and joined wrists, mingling their blood. It is interesting that the handshake is the remnant of this practice.
By all means, Michele you really should proceed, no time to waste. Please include Huckabee, Grassley, Barton, Olson, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity and all the other toadies bought by "free enterprise" you get the point.
Whatever...the public option is going to be a reality.”

“Exactly how is an old YouTube link a link to who and what Dick Cheny is now. Is that or is that not a superficial, knee-jerk response. It's arrogant. YouTube will tell you what you need to know. Seriously? Or is everything (are there any troglodytes who believe this left) we see and hear on the Internet the TRUTH. Consider the source. Gee. Wizzzz. No. Dick Cheny is WRONG. He was WRONG. He will always be WRONG. I don't CARE what's on YouTube. Cheny's response to most everything is the response of the grunt. And I don't mean a military grunt. I mean a one dimensional, one-answer-for-everything, one tiny, miniscule, subatomic, dull-thinking GRUNT who is more interested in the status quo than a nuanced answer to anything. These are fundamental, complex problems. A YouTube link? Duuuhhhh. I guess the next time I want the truth, I'll go to YouTube.

Republican Political Hackery and the Hate Crimes Bill
Commented May 07, 2009 at 16:37:52 in Politics
“Shouting fire in a crowded building? Yes, it's called Reckless Endangerment. When you make an ACTION like that intentionally and knowing that there is no such danger, it encourages an ACTION in the crowd that you would have probable reason to suspect panic. People get injured in panics. To put people in danger knowingly and without justification is illegal in all states.”
Republican Political Hackery and the Hate Crimes Bill

“Fantastic article but may I add a point that many may have overlooked. In reference to free of speech we do indeed have certain rights but you cannot scream "Fire" in a crowd. Hate crimes to my understanding covers more than the "thoughts" of people committing violence against another person. Hate crimes includes the people who scream and incite others to commit the violence.”
truthfan replied on May 07, 2009 at 16:39:06
“Doesn't the US have some law against incitement to violence?
American legislators seem to cause some serious problems by not passing broad enough legislation. For example, "driving without due care and attention" and "driving while distracted" could cover all new technologies and habits - but instead, every time a new technology is introduced, or some new idiocy is invented, the legislation has to be updated. This is insanity.
In the same way, if “incitement to violence” is a crime, it still protects all the people in the “hate crime” categories, but it protects everyone else too. In any case, it's impossible to foresee every group that may be ill-treated because of their characteristics.”

Careful what you wish for. Just like Dept of Homeland Security is now be used as a tool to go after right wingers, these laws could some day be used to go after environmentalists and vocal left wingers.”

“Stay away from the food aisles and keep to to the peripheral area where the fresh produce is sold.”
JenniferEccles replied on May 06, 2009 at 16:02:41
“Those center-of-the-store aisles seem to be filled with anything but what I consider to be food. Once its in a box, its probably unhealthy for you.
It seems that since the 1960s, when we all had a bit more leisure time, those aisles have grown with products whose only appeal is that they are easy to prepare.
You are right about staying on the periphery where the fresh produce is. Its healthier since its fresh and real. Americans should add more raw foods to their diet.”
