Carrie Underwood Responds To 'Sound Of Music' Critics

Carrie Underwood Responds To 'Sound Of Music' Critics

Commented Dec 9, 2013 at 13:17:53 in TV

“Underwood is a good singer. No doubt about it. But the problem I have with her is that she simply lacks personality/charisma/star power. She simply doesn't have that magical presence on stage or in front of the camera. As a result, she appears mechanical, plastic (Nashville Barbie) and cold. That's hard to change. Also, I find her Palinesque act (referencing the Bible in a holier-than-thou style to slam so-called haters in order to galvanize her Teapublican base) is a little irritating.”

“Says the girl who got implants and flaunts them every chance she can get. #potcallingthekettleblack The thing about Katy Perry is that she is so terribly bland and boring. There's nothing remotely interesting about her. Say what you will but at least Miley Cyrus, Gaga etc seem have interesting personalities.”

“Well done, Van Jones. Cruz is beyond pathetic. I love how he says that milions are suffering under Obamacare. How is this possible when the program just launched? How is it possible when support millions crashed the site and when support for Obamacare is growing? Well, Cruz lives in a bubble like most Teapublicans. He should read the Myth of Daedalus & Icarus.”

Bill De Blasio Leads New York City's Democratic Mayoral Primary, New Poll Shows

Commented Aug 13, 2013 at 20:33:10 in Politics

“You have to go for De Blasio. He is a good candidate with a strong platform and a solid public servant. Quinn has accomplished nothing, doesn't have any managerial credentials (she's a cloak-and-dagger politician) and is basically Bloomberg's puppet (she pushed through the term limit vote to enable his 3rd term). Given the global prominence of the NYC Mayor position, I wished there were more established, high-profile figures attached to the NY mayor's race (I'm still surprised that it's so shallow) but it is what it is. Blasio for Mayor!”

Keith Olbermann Takes Swipe At Rachel Maddow Over Twitter

Commented Jul 4, 2013 at 16:08:56 in Media

“Good on you, Keith. Time to tell the truth. I lost all respect for Rachel when she failed to muster any kind of support for KO when he left. She essentially picked a side (the network), became a corporate slave (whose head has gotten way too big) and sold out Keith. But she would be nowhere were it not for Keith -- he recruited her and gave her the platform that she's dancing around on right now. She owes him everything. Same goes for Lawrence o'Donnell and countless others. Rachel did a shameful thing and she needs to do right by Keith. MSNBC had some integrity during the KO days. Now it's just a corporatist campaign channel filled with annoying wonks and limousine liberals who love the sound of their own voices.”

MSNBC Lands In Fourth Place In May; Maddow Hits Ratings Lows

Commented May 30, 2013 at 13:15:17 in Media

“I've stopped watching MSNBC primetime for the most part because it's a repetitive lineup of uber-wonks who all look and sound the same. I love Rachel but her snarky shtick is getting old. We all lamented Big Ed's move from primetime and we knew Chris Hayes wouldn't be able to hold Ed's audience. Hayes is "mini Rachel" and the back-to-back wonkishness during the 8-10pm segment turns off viewers. Ed's audience admired his blue collar roots and commitment to Middle Class Americans. No one on the current primetime lineup has those credentials. Lawrence is smart and has blue collar roots but he's a little sanctimonious and too "Hollywood." I think MSNBC needs to shake up its primetime lineup but they got rid of the interesting personalities like Olbermann, Ratigan, Cenk etc.”

Commented Apr 3, 2013 at 13:12:28 in Media

“I really miss Big Ed in that 8pm timeslot. He could speak for and about the Working Man/Woman of America and now we don't have that. There's no organic connection to working class Americans at MSNBC. (Cenk was also another regular guy that they dismissed.) In fact, the problem with MSNBC now is that the primetime lineup is filled with inside-the-beltway limousine liberals (I hate to use that phrase but it's the truth) who are more into their own wonkishness and intellectual musings. Furthermore, Chris and Rachel are good but far too similar in terms of their "hyper" style of delivery, wonkishness etc. The back-to-back setup doesn't help. I'm watching MSNBC less and less these days. It's too much of the same story rehashed throughout the evening, relentless snark, finger-pointing, uber-wonkishness etc.”

magnetplanner on Apr 3, 2013 at 21:40:55

“Good analysis. Ed was the key to mainstreaming the network with a good dramatic flair. He was also first in Wisconsin, so he had great news instincts. Wonks interviewing other wonks is not entertaining.”

“This just sucks. Ed was the last real representative of the American Worker on MSNBC and now he’s being pushed out wonky nerds. Ezra Klein? I like him. He’s a good policy analyst but he’s about as dynamic as a sloth and about as interesting as a government statistician. This is just a demotion no matter what they say – no one watches the channel on weekends. It’s really sad what Phil Griffin has done at MSNBC – pushing out the real voices of the people and opting for Corporate Dems. Yes, Rachel toes the corporate line. I would go for someone in the middle – Smerconish? – instead of another wonky Lib like Hayes or Kelin.”
