“It's certainly possible that Arianna did this to be provocative. However, the questions remains, what does it provoke us to do? Write rebuttals that question the logic of resignation? Animate us towards a more vigorous debate on Afghanistan?
The so-called left needs to vigorously go after the Obamistas who talk the talk, but couldn't walk the walk if they tried. We need a new term for these folks. They are not liberals (heart on the left, wallet on the right). They are sort of heart on the left, right-brained folks. As a result, we get soft soaped on health care. We get bamboozled looking for Republicans who still have functioning neurons. We get more muddle on Afghanistan.
If I'm Obama, I make it clear that the so-called presidential election in Afghanistan is null and void, an election done in by Karzai's cronies and put paid to this nonsense of a run-off. Hold a loya jirga where we get as many Afghani tribal leaders to participate as possible. Either an effective, corruption-diminished government is formed and puts into practice policies designed not to enrich elites, but to make the lives of Afghanis more secure or we NATOl begins a phased-withdrawal.
We will reserve the right to attack Al-Quaeda by drones and other means if they are once again accorded free rein in Afghanistan. But, we are not going to waste American money and lives to prop up a corrupt regime of warlords, drug traffickers...”

“Yes. But the question is not adequately defined. What is "the same old" ? Pulling our troops out is not the same old. Conflict Escalation is not the same old. Both of those phrases are incomplete.
"Pulling our troops out .. without regard to the long term impact." Would be a same old for the US.
"Conflict Escalation the conflict ... without having a clearly defined seet of goals" would be the same old for US. Shouldn't would put the effort into pushing for goals that we can at least debate the merits thereof ? The administration is trying to work out those goals. Why don't we at least wait to see what they are for "this" administration before we take on this debate ?”

“There is an enormous dept because Bush started an unnecessary war against a country that had nothing to do with 9/11.
He also gave the mega wealthy tax cuts according to the religious belief in the aptly named "trickle down economics."
And then there is Reagan who fired a shot across the bow of the American middle class when he dismissed the air traffic controllers.
I could go on.
The GOP is no friend to the average American worker. Indeed, they have only contempt for the middle class, the backbone of America.”

“The Iraq war accounts for one trillion dollars of our debt load. We currently have a national debt load of 17 trillion. that means that we owe 17 trillion right now (not to be confused with the 9 trillion dollar deficit) What do you attribute the other 16 trillion to? are you going to blame bush for that too?”

only problem? It’s not true. As ACORN has stated in its press release,
“They were not believable", said Ms. Kaelke of the two actors. "Somewhat entertaining, but they weren't even good actors. I didn't know what to make of them. They were clearly playing with me. I decided to shock them as much as they were shocking me. Like Stephan Colbert does – saying the most outrageous things with a straightface." While her sense of humor might not be funny to many people, the fact is that she spun false scenario after false scenario and the videographer ate them up"

We on the left think that reason will prevail. That isn't happening as seen at Town hall meetings.

“For the first time in my life, i needed to use my health care in a serious way.
I was bleeding out of places nobody should, and losing a lot weight without trying.
The Doctor ordered two CAT scans Pelvic and abdominal. The insurance company scratched the pelvic and approved the abdominal with a catch.
They sent me notice that the procedure approved did not necessarily "guarantee payment".
I got the scan done after waiting five weeks. That was two weeks ago. I have not heard a word from anybody since.”
