Going Rouge Skewers Palin
Commented Nov 01, 2009 at 03:11:16 in Books
“The only thing more disturbing than Sarah Palin are the people who do NOT find Sarah Palin disturbing ... and even moreso, a "licensed counselor" who does not find her disturbing, while colluding with and publicly reinforcing her pathology. Dust off your DSM IV and check her out one of these days.”

“YES! You are so right!
I have not seen one shred of evidence of this dem administration's willingness to DEFEND our President from the right wing's constant assault on his very personhood.
Secty Gibbs needs to stop being "CUTE" and "SMILEY" ... STOP passing off the public degradation of Obama as "SILLY" or "CRAZY" or inconsequential. All of the admin's talking heads need to get SERIOUS and refuse to collude with those who despise Obama and want him to just "disappear." Call them out on it, not for being silly or crazy, but for their real crime of trying to destroy the dignity office of the President of the United States and trying to destroy the man himself with vicious attacks. My God, this is not a joke!
The silence of those with power and influence renders them just as responsible as the Obama-haters for hindering progress in this country. It is reprehensible to me that they refuse to simply speak the TRUTH in defense of human dignity. They should be doing this loudly and clearly EVERY SINGLE TIME another lie is propagated, every single time another vicious insult is hurled at our President. What is wrong with them?????”

“I agree to some degree. He must address it but not necessarily everytime. The problem with that line of reasoning is that he'll be constantly reacting to irrantional completely bogus BS all the time.
The real solution: put them on the defensive. File charges against Bush and Cheney for violating the Geneva convention and shredding the constituion. Expose them in a special commission to find out the truth about everything: 911, Iraq, the CIA and the no bid contractors.
That'll keep them too busy to make up stuff.”

Change We Can Believe In: Feelings Toward the Administration by Those Who Elected It

“Remember John McCain and Sarah Palin?? Do you? This is what we'd be dealing with if Obama wasn't elected! THINK about that for a minute! What would McCain be doing right now, 7 months into his first term, other than fighting the crisis fires that Palin would be igniting? What was Bush doing 7 months into his first term, other than going to Crawford for another vacation? What did the last 8 years of Bush do about the economy and a broken health care system? NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING, other than make it more broken.
What Obama is doing is what REAL CHANGE LOOKS LIKE! It's NOT pretty, it's messy, it's chaotic, it's unbelievably hard, there is huge resistance, people are afraid and fight against it. There will be missteps and steps backward, as well as steps forward. It's a dangerously rocky road to negotiate, but what is the alternative?
It's going to take a long time to clean out the toxic mess that has accumulated on the political landscape of America, but it has to start somewhere! Obama has put himself out there to take on this seemingly impossible challenge. Give the man a break! Don't wimp out him now, darn it! He's just started.”

“Are you responding to this post because you still BELIEVE? REAL LIFE like REAL CHANGE does not run on belief. It runs on facts. And the fact of the matter is Obama has not FOUGHT for anything yet. He caves in everytime there is a fight.
Why is it that Republicans can ram through bad bills when they're in the majority and Dems can't? I'll tell you why? Republicans stick to their ideals however nasty they might be. We on the left seem to think compromising on our core ideals is OK so we can get something done. Do you think MLK could have achieved civil rights for African Americans by compromising on his ideals?
I would like to give Obama a benefit of doubt but his record speaks volumes about him. He has NEVER been a change candidate. Look at his record in Senate and the bills he has sponsored. He has never fought the status quo and he won't now.
You guys got bamboozled by a fancy media campaign and you're still clinging on to your hopes. I still HOPE that Obama proves me wrong and comes out waving his magic stick and accomplishes what he PROMISED. But I know it won't happen!”

“Keep drinking the Kool Aid ladies & Austin! Obama has quadrupled in 6 months what Bush did in 8 years! And a majority of the problem was initiated by an incresingly democratic Congress. Now the blind is leading the blind and you are all trying to cover up for it by feeding us a bunch of bologna. Nobody is buying what Obama or folks like you are selling! Finally, the folks are seeing a little about what this President and all of his corrupted and shady advisors and administrators are doing! I hope you ladies are prepared for the times ahead! Better continue coming up with blame and excuses, because you sure are going to need them!”

“Thank you for being the voice of sanity here. These people who really expected Obama to come in on his white horse and magically change the entire country around in just 7 short months are delusional! As the saying goes "Rome wasn't built in a day". Give the man a chance! I know that we all are very hungry for change and that is a big part of why we voted for Obama but you have to understand that change is never easy. It takes time and hard work and remember that there are always going to be people out there that are against change and it's going to be a battle to move forward. Have some patience!!!”

“I am of pure Irish heritage with VERY white skin - not the redhead with freckles kind - just WHITE - almost translucent. Could never go to the beach or swimming without covering up. Kids would laugh at my white legs if I wore shorts. I always had shame and embarrassment about this - always wishing I was like "regular" people who could get a tan in the summer, even if they had "light" skin in the winter. I married a Hawai'an / Philipino and have 2 lovely daughters, both with gorgeous complexions. I used to tease my husband that I only married him so I could have kids that could get tan! The upside is that I don't have a lot of wrinkles as I age, since I couldn't go out in the sun. And I still have "issues" about my white skin.”
TheFatLadySings replied on Aug 12, 2009 at 05:26:34
“Me too - only I freckled on my arms. But I sure got made fun of for having translucent skin - especially living in California. I’m suffering for trying to tan all those years too. I now have to monitor my skin closely for pre-cancerous spots. That’s what societal pressure will buy you: damage that lasts a lifetime. Amazing how much tone and color can affect everything when it comes to how we see ourselves. What a thoughtful and moving post this is. It brought so very many things to mind: my own heritage, friend’s opinions. I remember an interview with Eartha Kitt where she discussed this very topic. She said she was despised within her own family for her skin tone. Said they called her a 'hi-yella gal'. How terrible. It seems every ethnicity has its own levels of hate. How I wish we could all discuss this subject without the discussion devolving.”

“The irrational and unmitigated hatred / fear of Obama from DAY ONE of his candidacy, runs so deep in the right wing fringe, it bespeaks some primordial threat to their existenence. When Obama actually WON the presidency, they completely unraveled at the "audacity" of it all.
The outrage lit a fire under the pernicious racism in those segments of America and they have no idea how to stop it from boiling over.
What SILLY racists! Instead of running around in circles Obama-bashing, why don't they put their energy into finding the "real" (somewhere outside of America) birth certificate? Then their wish could come true. Obama would be gone and a white guy would be president again. Whew!”

But he would be a white guy democrat. Before they go looking for the "real" birth certificate, they need to get the Constitution amended so that the successor to the president is the governor or Alaska. No, wait. Too late for that. How about Governor of California? No, that means another round of fake birth certificates. Damn, this is a hard nut to crack!”

“Sanford obviously wanted to get caught, so he did something stupid. He wanted to end the charade, but didn't have the inner resources to confront his dilemma head-on. Needed a way out. Guess what? He's HUMAN. As some have noted on this blog, conservatives set themselves up for failure by politicizing their religious views. There's a reason why the notion of separation of church and state used to be considered important!”

“I don't know how old you are, Ms Siskind, but I doubt you were a young adult in the 60's and 70's like I was. Perhaps you think you're being "cutting edge," but your purported "New Agenda" is simply the OLD agenda in a new time. The "old agenda" was an appropriate and necessary strategy (loud, in your face), as women meandered out of the 50's and realized they had no voice. If this new "wave" was truly "a quiet acceptance" that something must be done, I would not be sitting here banging my keyboard in response to your article and Willow's mother would be "quietly" and steadfastly supporting her daughter's inner strength and beauty, as she would have been doing since the day she was born.
Do you really think a 14-year old girl isn't absolutely mortified that her name and face are being splattered all over the tabloids? Do you really think a 14-year old girl doesn't wish her mother would just come home and "be with her," instead of using the msm to make accusations of perversion in her daughter's name?
Listen to me, Ms Siskind: True POWER lives in truth and stillness. I will say it again: True POWER lives in truth and stillness.
You are a wonderfully creative writer. The added element of "inclusion" is a brilliant and powerful tool. I hope you will read this and reflect on your erroneous assumption that "in their shoes, we would all do the same."”
