Obama's Questions For Obama
Commented Dec 02, 2009 at 13:05:33 in Politics
“Do some of you seriously believe that if the US were to unilaterally withdraw all troops from Afghanistan, waving peace flags and singing kumbaya, that al Queda and the Taliban would wave goodbye and we'll all live happily ever after? They nest in and around a nuclear Pakistan. They hate us and want us all dead.
Going into Afghanistan without a strategy or plan is what got us into this mess in the first place. An 8 year war is not going to fix itself automatically or overnight. I'm glad that our overestended troops who are there now will have some help and I hope that the region will be stable enough to start withdrawing US troops in July 2011.”

“This is the kind of logic that sustains this war and has for eight years when history itself proves that it is without merit, and it denies all other logical reasoning as well.”

“Actually, it is estimated that there are fewer than 100 Al Qaeda
members left in Afghanistan. Fewer than 100. The warfare that is
going on currently in Afghanistan is primarily an insurgency
against the American occupation. Our presence there is *causing*
the conflict, and increasing that presence will only intensify
the flames.
As for the nukes next door, what do you propose to do, invade
Pakistan?
This is not a conflict that can be won by boots on the ground
and sheer muscle. This is not a conventional war. This is
a conflict that must be won with subtle intelligence ops and,
most of all, by gaining the hearts and minds of the people
in the area - something that will most definitely NOT be
done by flooding the region with heavily armed American troops
and by killing innocent locals by drone-bombing weddings
and funerals.”

Obama's Afghan War Plan: Nine Key Points

“I was working in downtown DC on September 11, 2001. I could see the smoke from the plane crash at the Pentagon. I heard the warnings that a plane was enroute to DC. I couldn't get out the parking garage at my building. I was afraid to ride the Metro. I couldn't reach my children at their schools or my elderly parents because cell phone and telephone lines were beyond capacity. The attack served its purpose; I was terrified. Yes, I want our troops out of Afghanistan. However, we need to eliminate al Queda. Leaving Afghanistan without a plan will not serve that purpose.”

“The only people who claim to have invited the Salahis are the Salahis. The White House and the Secret Service have stated the Salahis were not invited. If they were not invited, then their SSNs were not submitted to the Secret Service for a background check. Ergo, they could not have been cleared.”

“I don't get the "off with her head" attacks on Desiree Rogers. The SOCIAL Secretary's Office is not responsible for SECURITY. The Secret Service is ultimately responsible for deciding who gains entrance to the White House. If a person's name is not on a guest list, they don't get in. If the SS wants to take it a step further then call somebody in the social secs office to confirm a guest if you must. But to just let them in? NO! I've seen better security at the door leading to wedding receptions. At the same time, I don't expect the bride to be standing there monitoring the guest list.”

“Because she's an African American woman in a position of power. How on earth is she or her office responsible for security? Her office gave the Secret Service the guest list. Common sense says don't let anyone in who is not on the list - period. The Secret Service should not need an intern from the Social Secretary's office to remind them of that.”
FlowerFan replied on Nov 27, 2009 at 21:34:07
“Because she's an African-American? Please. It's not her race, it's her title and occupational responsibiliites. She's the social secretary for the Obama administration. Protocol is to have someone from her office clearing all guests as they enter. You seriously suggest an intern? This is a presidential state dinner where security is paramount. While Secret Service failed miserably, her office does bear some responsibility. I don't always agree with all the President's policies, but I do want him safe. My hope is that this incident tightens procedure so it will never happen again.”
weebils replied on Nov 27, 2009 at 21:10:52
“She was actually suppose to be working that day. This was a government function and she failed to do her job. The secret service failed to verify with her if there were any last minute changes. But she failed to have someone posted to help things run smoothly. She is a social secretary, not a head of state. Which means that yes she has to do the mundane things that all social secretaries do. That includes verifying whether people have the right to attend an event.”
