Following on the sorry heels of the disgraceful exits of African leaders like Mubarak of Egypt and Ben Ali of Tunisia, the upcoming ignominous exit of Col. Moammar Gaddafi will send a message to other African dictators that their sorry end is fast approaching.
Gaddafi has been in power since 1969 - that is 41 years!!!
Imagine that the devious President Nixon is still president from Watergate scandal thru fall of the Berlin Wall thru formation of Google/Facebook/Twitter. Now, imagine that Nixon (with all his anarchronistic imperfections) is still president of the United States in 2011 AND still insisting by knife, bullets and bombs that he has a right to be president-for-life when he has run of juice, out of ideas and out of any meaningful contribution to the U.S.
That, ladies and gents, is Col Moammar Gaddafi -”

“Real regime change- no army left in charge. A new zeitgeist is really possible.”
“Sad, stupid and sadistic - these atarvistic Boko Haram acolytes. The international joke was that Nigeria is a country perpetually at the doorsteps of greatness. Time was when Nigeria credibly branded itself the "giant of Africa." Now, it is just a giant with clay feet.
Nigeria's foundational (that is, existential) faultlines is the 50-50 population of its (northern) Muslims and (southern) Christians. Christian Nigerians look towards the 21 Century while its Muslim citizens look towards Saudi Arabia/Stone Age. Like a snake with two heads Nigeria is always moving without really leaving its starting point.
No great nation has ever been conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within. Nigeria is destroying itself from within and the end (of Nigeria as one indivisible nation) is near.
