Tiger Woods Is So, So, So Much Bigger Than Golf

Commented Dec 18, 2009 at 14:51:09 in Sports

“Golf will survive on a completely different level. It will return to the pre-Tiger sized audiences or smaller. That will mean less revenue from sponsors. That will mean smaller purses for the winners. Everyone loses without Tiger Woods.”

Greg Petty replied on Dec 18, 2009 at 17:31:05

“If you hang the future of golf on one person, it is like a house of cards it will collapse ,yes things will change, golf will recover, they are already figuring out a game plan to spin this, his list of girlfriends could caddie a whole tournament”

Greg Petty replied on Dec 18, 2009 at 15:39:20

“In any sport no one man is bigger than the game, Jordan retired, and others

it is like in the old west, their was always someone faster on the draw, and their will appear a new golden child”

Tiger Woods: Predator Or Prey?

Commented Dec 18, 2009 at 14:14:28 in Living

“Tiger, in a sense, is prey. He is so recognizable that he can't stop at a convenience store to buy a news paper without women coming on to him. He can't leave his house without having IT thrown at him. There's no excuse for his cheating but he is prey.”

hype-free replied on Dec 18, 2009 at 14:24:24

“Hardly.

He is out trolling bars to see what he can snag!

Remember, he is married??? Just a small thing to forget.

Wife and kids waiting at home. HELLO!”

“Agreed. Tiger really is bigger than golf. If golf is to survive, Tiger must.
But, I don't agree that Nike has to stick with him. Nike is smart and they are all about sports. Tiger is the ultimate athlete - HANDS DOWN. Nike wants Tiger wearing their caps, shirts, pants, shoes and everything else as he counts down the majors towards Jack's record. Don't get it twisted. The television audiences with be unprecedented. Nike's smart.”

“No doubt the GOP is in a real panic. They are probably trying to figure out how to get rid of YouTube before the next presidential election cycle. They are likely looking forward to 2016 but don't really have anyone to run then either. Palin will NEVER be ready.”

“Isn't it mom and dad's responsibility to nurture? The perpetrators of this crime CLEARLY didn't get sufficient guidance, loving or otherwise, from their parents. It's got to start there.”

Nommo replied on Oct 08, 2009 at 00:52:12

“Theoretically, yes. Is it within their ability to parent? That is another question altogether and one that is confronted everywhere by all social classes, minimally. How is it that we pass on tradition? How is it that we fail to do so?”

Chicago Beating Death Shocks White House -- But Now What?

Commented Oct 04, 2009 at 22:15:49 in Chicago

“The beating of Derrion had nothing to do with the white society's denial of the perpetrators' manhood. It had more to do with their lack of parenting. What ever happened to the day when kids said "my mom (or dad) will kill me if I do XYZ?" Also, lack of job opportunities had nothing to do with what happened to young Derrion. The perpetrators were likely NOT prepared to enter the job market. Their behavior demonstrated that they don't value human life. You said that "they" must call on educators, counselors, gang intervention activists and others to help curb the violence. How about calling on the family (remember mom and dad) of the perpetrators to bring their children up with the values it takes to live in a civilized society. What they did was outrageous. You make me want to scream.”

alenaspoppa replied on Oct 05, 2009 at 12:31:14

“I agree with everything you're saying, and it's a problem no matter the ethnicity of the parents...we should never have 35 year olds who are parents of 18 year olds. We shouldn't see 40 year old grandparents. Sure, there are exceptions, but when you couple young parenthood with poverty and lack of education, the children start out with a nearly insurmountable hill to climb.

When I was in my 20s, I lived in a house that had been divided into two apartments. Above me was an 18 year old mother of colicky twins. When the babies would cry, the mother would turn her stereo on as loud as it would go and scream "Shut up!" at the top of her voice. I called child services several times, but nothing was ever done other than the landlords telling her she had to move at the end of her lease. Unfortunately, I don't think my experience is as unique as it should be.”

“While you are absolutely right that he is given access to an attorney if he can't afford it, this failed terrorist will inevitably be defended by some slick, high publicity lawyer who specializes in getting his name in the media by defending the indefensible using technicalities rather than justice.”

“Actually HE is losing support. We love the policies he ran under.. he just won't get out there and push them. These are progressives, not liberals or moderate dems, that have left the fold. Give us a public option, or better yet, the kind of health care he promised during the campaign (which is what really got us on board in the first place) and we will stick to him like glue.”

ywcachieve replied on Sep 02, 2009 at 03:25:09

Repubs are very tricky like that.”
