“That picture of the River Country slides brings back haunting memories for me. I can't remember if I knew it was going to drop like that or if it just scared the @&$? Out of me, but that park was truly horrible. Now that it is abandoned, it will truly haunt my dreams.”
“this story is not really news worthy. children or their parents are dying because they do not have one but people want to flash this story into their faces knowing those people are going to die while waiting for one.”
“Yes, the solution is to just pretend that sex doesn't happen. Abstinence as a policy doesn't work. If you want the abortion rate to go down, make sure that contraception is as freely available as possible. Abstinence is against human nature, so it will always fail and always has failed.”

“Contraception is already ubiquitous. Want to try another lame argument?”
“You don't get it. It had not been used to this extent before by Democrats or Republicans. Republicans made it so that the former rules were unworkable, and that kind of destroys the ability to keep something like the filibuster in place for anyone. Frankly, it needs to go completely and damn the consequences regardless of viewpoint.”

“Dude, if you legalize holding in football, everyone will hold.
That is why you don't change the rules that help both sides get an equal say”
“Socialism is the government running business, it's not the government regulating business. Unbridled capitalism is not a good thing for anyone. Why is it that our country seems to go to pot whenever republicans are in charge? Is it really socialism when businesses always seem to do better when the so-called socialists are in charge?”
woodrow2012 on May 11, 2014 at 23:47:42
“Very true. The government if far better in running things.....”
fjdasaro on May 11, 2014 at 14:58:36
“No, socialism is the people/workers running business. The government doing that job is one out of many different interpretations of socialist ideology”

“Seems you need to take another look at what the word socialism really means.”
“Sooty, I was looking at the wrong paper. This one you refer to makes the claim you mention and then says that if you remove the El Niño signal, that trend goes away. You can't just pick and choose snippets of science and think that you know what is going on.”
“Now this may just be a future headline ne: "Republicans Accept Science!"
In a surprise move, presidential contender George W. Bush XXI, stated, "I believe it is finally time for the Republican Party to accept that science is real and not a liberal plot to make us look stupid." Bush is fighting an uphill battle in his bid for the presidency. After Bush family losses to an an actor, an adulterer, the first female president, a homosexual, and others, Bush finds himself in an intense contest with Professor Clucks, a hyper intelligent chicken. Bush was earlier secretly recorded saying, "I could take losing to an actor, but when a chicken is demonstrably smarter than the whole of the Republican Party, we really have a problem."”
“Let's face it, both the democrats and republicans want to limit our freedoms. Republicans want to limit our freedom to vote, to marry, to have privacy in the bedroom, to not have to have probes placed in orifaces, to not be subjected to enhanced interrogation techniques, etc.
Democrats want to limit our freedom to die from disease and go bankrupt while doing so.
How can republicans cry about freedom when the only freedom they seem to like is their version of the second amendment.”

“They also seem to really like their freedom to discriminate based on religious views or sexual orientation.”
“I came home one day to kind that my father-in-law had killed a "copperhead" in my yard. The snake, about a foot long, was an adult earth snake whose jaws could not bite you if it tried. People should be educated about the snakes around them. The vast majority are harmless, some even eat the venomous ones. If you do see a venomous snake, leave it alone. If you get bit by one of these snakes, chances are that you have been messing with it or trying to kill it. There is no need to fear snakes, but you should always respect them.”
“We need to emphasize physics a bit more in school. Maybe we need more real life examples. If Q- ball cuts off a 30 foot limb of a tree at a 15 degree angle and it strikes him in the chest, how far will he fall from a 50 foot ladder?”
NitramNos on May 6, 2014 at 11:37:32
“Let's just emphasize good old common sense.Q-Ball broke at least 8 rules of using a chainsaw safely.”

“Cancer is an extremely difficult nut to crack because it is your own cells proliferating, and each type of cancer is different. You have to find a way to kill just those cells. There is no shadowy conspiracy by scientists to just find treatments, not a cure. Scientists are doing the best they can to figure cancer out, and demeaning them like this is pretty sad.”

“Scientists absolutely are encouraged not to find a cure. Go ahead and name the last disease that was cured in the US.....It was polio back in the 1940's. Youre telling me with all the technology we have they can't find a cure for anything? Ha, yeah right, the medical community and pharmaceutical companies lost potential billions. They aren't going to let that happen again. Its a business, would any business out there want to lose money? No, of course not.”
Wendy Stewart on May 5, 2014 at 20:18:26
“If chemo actually worked people would survive. Although scientists work hard trying to figure cancer out big pharma looks for treatment rather than a cure.”
TheLadyOphelia on May 5, 2014 at 18:53:05
“No, actually it's quite logical. And, it makes excellent business sense!
The health care and pharmaceutical industries bring in billions each year for hundreds thousands of various treatments and medications.
On the other hand, there is very little money to be made in cures. Treatments can go on forever (figuratively, that is). A cure does not.
I wouldn't say scientists have much to do with it - it is the people on high, running things who make the decisions as to what is released to the public and what is not. And they are not in business for philanthropic reasons.”

“Having had cancer, three different kinds, of which 2 were successfully treated, I can unequivocally say that Chemotherapy is a barbaric treatment. pumping in toxins throughout your body to kill the rapidly growing cells.”
“The increase in carbon in the atmosphere is reversible, the damage done to a river by a large dam is not. How about the potential for solar on every rooftop? How much of that capacity are we missing?”
Polar Shift on May 6, 2014 at 00:29:13
“Hard to measure, but certainly a lot. Solar doesn't need to be as expensive as it currently is. It has become something of a 'racket' for installers and manufacturers here. Chinas' are cheaper, and just as efficient as any built here. It could be far cheaper if profiteers could be stopped somewhat. We also need to utilize wind and wave tech better, and renewable green fuels as well, from things like hemp.”
“I am sorry to tell all you that think it was great that he threw it back, but that is a dead shark. It's skin and gums are bloody, the fins and flesh are torn, and probably hoisting it up by the tail would not have helped it. They should have frozen it and sent it to a museum.”
