Is This as Good as It Gets From Obama?

“What a pat notion.
My Granddad was in the Cavalry in WW One, my father was a 17-year-old Sailor in WW 2, a pilot in Korea, an Army captain at 30, a civilian flight instructor (helicopters) at Fort Sill in the first year of Vietnam involvement. My son is a 22-year-old sergeant, an infantryman in Iraq, 30 miles from Iran at present, his second tour, his next will be Afghanistan. I didn't play sports because my family moved around too much, as my father was a pilot for Petroleum Helicopters. Growing up, I had everything "yelled into" me, and more, that I needed, thank you very VERY much.
You're having it too easy with that pat, supercilious comeback to our dissatisfaction with President Obama, Benton. Much too easy. I strenuously object to how easy that was for you to spout.”

“"That said, I do not forget that if the election had gone the other way, we'd right now have a barter economy and be at war with Honduras."
Bill, Bill...hiding behind humor. The situation is many months past being funny anymore.
I think if McSame had won, we'd be doing exactly what we're doing now, only without the hatched stinklet eggs of "the teabaggers" and the incredible advancement of Glenn Beck and Michelle Bachman.
I want to quit calling President Obama "smart" and "talented" now. When can we go ahead and do that? What is wrong with us?”

“There's some truth to this, though I think Palin would be grandstanding her agenda.
And let's not forget everyone's darling Al Gore picked Lieberman as a VP.
Obama was the only choice, but he's turned out to be all show and no go.The latest health care bill is a compromised mess disguised as a victory. The big winners are the insurance companies. And the crowd cheers.”

“How I cheered in my living room at my TV when Bill Maher said this on HBO! How I wish Bill Maher weren't singing to the choir when he says this. And most of all, how I wish Obama was a member of our choir, so he'd hear this and maybe take heed, but he isn't.
You know what the birthers, deathers, dittoheads and all, are REALLY doing? They're drowning out objections to President Obama from the Left. We can't object to any of our elected president's perceived (don't want to be banned from yet another "democratic" blog, so must say "perceived") betrayals without finding ourselves chimed in with the wrong choir!
Oh well. Thank you, Bill Maher. Stay well. Don't go anywhere.”

“Troop parents were profoundly offended as well! I was incensed by Cindy McCain's atrocious comments. Ever since she made it, every time McCain appears on my Tv news in the evening, talking at some rally, my eyes straight go to his wife and remain there. A cold shudder runs through my body at the mention of her name. As the saying goes, I wish she would make her claims to my face. Never happen, of course! A coward's place is at her powerful hubby's side, speaking into a microphone, before a safe, worshipful mob of like-thinkers.”

“Of course we wouldn't trust her, but the evangelicals would, and all the ultra-virulent "lib" haters would, they don't care, the point is just to win what is for them a kind of Superbowl against a hated rival team, not to make good sense, not to concern themselves with the world or what is best for anyone, even their own families. Palin stepped over that low, low, low bar tonight. She didn't "run sobbing off the stage" as predicted, and she didn't get McCain any more votes. She didn't lose him any, either. She was nasty, snotty, smirky, bratty, ill-mannered, below the belt and out of line (as was McCain in the other debate), fully aware that Biden could not, no matter what, respond in kind, or even dare come CLOSE. Think she could work that act on Putin? Hmmm...maybe she could.
(And maybe she WILL. If they win, the vice-presidency is going to become a very VERY big deal, Sarah says. Thought Cheney was crazy with power? Palin has plans that Cheney only BEGAN to put in play. He got away with everything he did. Sarah will get away with far FAR worse. That's how history rolls. Past IS prologue, ain't it!)”

“And too, by turning to Fox News, you almost NEVER have to see/hear all that icky "war" stuff. Flag-draped coffins, soldiers with burned off faces, children left fatherless, young American women without legs, death tolls passing 4,000, Iraqi city streets literally running red with foamy, yucky blood. Who the heck needs THAT?! So unfortunately, you may have to bite the bullet, Asplundh, as tlk221 was forced to do, and watch Fox News. It is Fair and it is Balanced. Cuz this blog is rigged, I wish I didn't have to admit it, cuz AM for Obama, but I'm getting so turned off...."
Yes, Virginia, there is a much less biased blog you can go to, so don't read the Huffington Post anymore, go to a place called "Hillary44". That's what I hear, anyway.”

“She reminds me of my mother, a bloodthirsty war monger and lifelong Republican fan-girl, STILL defending the Vietnam war (a war her generation didn't have to fight in...) by just flat out saying, "Yes BUT WE WON."
Shameless dishonesty is usually pathological; don't try to understand it.
I don't say this stuff to bicker about Hillary to her supporters at this blog. At her worst, she is still miles above madman McCain (which isn't saying much), and will get my vote (along with a great big sigh) if she gloms the nomination.”

“Parade, I'm glad you brought this up, I so agree. You and Barack Obama are NOT baby boomers, you're WAAAAAYYY too young. My sister was born in 1954, however, and she is a baby boomer, I think, that is, if I am one. Thing is, I don't think that even I am a baby boomer (born 1950), because I don't represent the bounding birth rate that directly followed the end of WW 2. When I was a little teenager, I used to hear the term "baby boomer" and I thought it sounded SO cool, and I was envious of the seniors four years older than I who fit this label. (Before that, the cool thing to be was a "war baby," but i was just a small kidlet then.) Decades later, I suddenly "became" a baby boomer, by magic.
But like I said, glad you brought it up, because this whole business gets my inner Adrian Monk in a dither. On TV, I saw Stewart and Colbert referred to as baby boomers. Ridiculous! My gosh, they're only in their forties. How long do the idjuts think the post war baby boom lasted, anyway? Me, I think it lasted a couple of years. 1946-1947. But what are you gonna do? "They" paste the labels on us, and we live with it. The only solution is not to care. Cuz they are not gonna stop. God only knows what your age group might suddenly be named tomorrow.”
