Obamacare Poll: Most Americans Still Oppose Health Care Law

Obamacare Poll: Most Americans Still Oppose Health Care Law

Commented May 27, 2013 at 22:42:43 in Politics

“There was a simple answer to lowering health care. All fields including pharmaceutical and others recieve billions in research dollars from the feds along with rebates for accepting certain government sponsored programs. Put in place pricing stipulations as a condition to continue to recieve grants, rebates or the ability to take tax breaks. You have to FIX the system, not just hand them a few more customers they can continue to rape.

The problem in this country is that we never fix anything - we just add more beaucracy and give everyone a "feel good" moment until the reality hits that nothing has changed.”

“You can "personally" feel any way you want. Obamas own Department of Health announced a few weeks ago that premiums will increase 20-60% under Obamacare. You really should read more - from reliable sources. The exchanges are a joke - that is what we will see in 2014.”

Kawuma on May 27, 2013 at 22:30:42

“And for the record, premiums were already going up before Obamacare. The idea was to stem the tide (by increasing the pool) and providing coverage to the un-insured in the process. Am also somewhat a skeptic (private companies are in it for profit) but something had to be done. Under this political climate the choice was which bad option was the best option..”

Kawuma on May 27, 2013 at 22:25:30

“So I guess Universal care is the answer? No? Am also kinda rooting for the premiums to go up so that folks can understand that healthcare is not a commodity. Private insurance companies are in to make profit not to provide ideal care for patients.”

Quit blaming everything on big business and take personal responsibility for creating a better job or business for yourself if you dont like the way others conduct theirs. Blaming others for your lack of sticktuitveness to better yourself is just another excuse.”

“I think you have Alzheimers. American businesses are over-regulated and over taxed (I am talking about the 90% of businesses in America which are small businesses) and cannot grow. Add to that we have a country where most of the employees are flat out lazy and have a "right" to rewards and extra benefits without wanting to earn them.

Unions broke the manufacturing in this country and forced companies to send jobs oversees. Reagan did not break this country - AMERICANS broke this country by failing and not having the balls to stand up to our continual ethical and moral decline of our government.”

“American businesses are also the most heavily regulated and taxed in the industrialized world. We also have the highest rate of tort claims and nuisance lawsuits against companies in the world. When the US Government and the nazi environmentalists gets out of the way of business - then maybe employers can afford and would be willing to adopt these programs.

And - please - only responses from those actually in business that understand it - not some whining employee that believes that are being burned by the "big bad companies".”

“Highest taxed in the industrialized world??? Yes, if THEY ACTUALLY PAID their taxes. Consider companies like GE that made billions and paid ZERO ... yes they are the most over taxed in the industrialized world ... my goodness get an education before you make another comment.”

“Since you like using per capita figures, I will give you the percentages by blue and red states:

Blue States: 2012 Census 205,654,351 Total Welf/FoodS: 21,915,271 = 11%
Red States: 2012 Census 104,254,645 Total Welf/FoodS: 11,398,011 = 10%

Of course this whole welfare argument has nothing to do with the fact that the blue states house the financial engines of this country that have robbed Americans blind.

So regardless, your argument still does not hold water.”

“I would rather be a parrot, than a liberal sheep constantly having to eat crow.

You can use per capita if you would like, but that is just how liberals work. Find the denominator that works the best for you and make it your mantra.

The REAL numbers are right here. And it appears the REAL takers are in the numbers.

Total Welfare Recipients:
Blue States: 3,367,362
Red States: 875,240

Total Food Stamp Recipients:
Blue States: 18,547,909
Red States: 10,522,771

Total Welfare and Food Stamp Recipients:
Blue States: 21,915,271
Red States: 11,398,011

Your Blue states have 3 times as many on welfare and twice as many on food stamps. Combined, the blue states still have twice as many people on welfare and food stamps.

Next time you attempt to state a fact - check the facts first - they are right there for you to look at. Now who needs to get a job”

“So - you cannot come up with a good argument for the blue states that create nothing but financial havoc on the rest of the country while the red states provide all of the commodities that you put on your kitchen table, which is why they receive the subsidies that they do, along with the fact that the red states contain more government controlled land and national parks that must be maintained, and fewer people per square mile requiring more federal dollars to maintain open land due to a smaller tax base.

This generalization that the Red States are on the dole holds no water without a breakdown of WHY they recieve more dollars per capita. However, the broke blue states are merely a result of bad politics and poor financial management.”

“You proved my point. Our small employer HAS provided 100% of our healthcare for the past 37 YEARS, NOT because he HAD to but because he knew it was the RIGHT and RESPONSIBLE thing to do from a company standpoint. He wasn't only worried about himself and his wallet but providing a benefit for his employees who he appreciated and knew that would be a benefit to him in the long run. How many businesses have a majority of employees with 25, 30 or more years of service? Who's really the TAKER? Those greedy, huge, selfish employers who only care about themselves and NOT their employees!”

The small, privately owned company who has employed my husband for 37 years has covered our healthcare 100% through good times and bad! Maybe this wouldn't be such a mess if more recognized their responsibilities and appreciated their employees instead of fattening their own bank accounts!”

“"These are the same people who value their personal beliefs over facts" I would rather have someone that bases their decisions on personal beliefs and morals, than someone that follows like a sheep merely because someone, based on their personal beliefs, says it is a "fact".

The only fact is that this country overspends and is a land of entitlements, with no one willing to do what is actually in the best interest of every person in this country, and instead, resort to power plays.

If you think for one second that your democratic party has done any less "political posturing over the good of the country" than any republican or anyone else - you are sadly mistaken.”

“Point 1. Beliefs and morals are fine but denying scientific fact based on a belief is irrational. Point 2. Self interest is a human trait, altruism is a learned quality. The people who get entitlements like Social Security and Medicare have, by and large, earned them. The country voted. Obama was elected. Therefore the country hase chosen it's path. QED Point 3. The Republicans have have spent decades denigrating the word "Liberal" with phrases like bleeding heart. They have suggested that Liberals, all liberals, are unpatriotic and spend thrifts.  However, I served in the Marines, I believe in personal responsibility and I have been politically active since Carter was president and I have seen the havoc that has been visited on the middle class and the impoverished by the failed policies of trickle down economics. From Ronald Reagan through the neo-conservatives of George W's tenure the Republican party of today has lost its soul and it's sanity.”

“Until the dems and liberals figure out that we cannot tax those that are actually paying taxes any more, and start taxing those that pay NO income tax (yes that includes all of the middle and lower class that get refunded their taxes every year). You cannot really expect to recieve a refund every year AND get free health care, free phones, entitlement after entitlement and pay nothing. Now those that actually need benefits, will begin to suffer because of those on the take in this country.

I know - your response is going to be 1. Either blame bush, or; 2. Blame the big bad corporations (who by the way DO pay taxes, and provide jobs in this country). 3. Try to use veterans, seniors and the disabled as part of some lame argument as being part of those that do not pay taxes (which they shouldn't). 4. Fail to come up with a good argument as to why you and every other working American should not pay your fair share.

The average American on the take can only play the blame game for so much longer before everyone begins to suffer. Progessive stands for "whats mine is mine and what is yours is mine, and if you won't willingly give it, we will take it".”

“If you make a wage - you are making enough to pay federal taxes - period. The waitresses I know (including the ones that have worked for me) make far more in tips + wage, than any person working for minimum wage for the same hours. Many waitresses make more in tips in one shift than a minimum wage earner makes in pay in two days.

Just because you do not make enough money to have everything you want or pay for every expense that you CREATE (cell phones, kids, new cars) - does not make you poor. A poor person does not have a job, a place to live, or food in their mouths. Quit putting the average overspending middle and lower middle class American in the same class as the poor to somehow justify not paying your fair share or taking more than your share . This is denigrating to those that are actually poor and have nothing and could actually use the help.

Vets and Seniors paid their dues - so don't try to gain sympathy by throwing those in to scew the facts.”

“And thank you for being open enough to see there are two sides to every coin.

Business functions best when they are able to grow and prosper without unnecessary regulatory interference. When government interferes with the prosperity of business, everyone suffers, including employees that might otherwise receive better benefits if a majority of business profits were not going to appeasing the whims of politicians creating those citizens that demand government intervene to "give them" what their employer can't. Very few employers are against giving their employees maximum benefit, but giving and financially able to give are two different things. Some of the worst big corporations have given ALL businesses a bad wrap.

Thanks again Wendy.”
