“So, is this the year for a 4 Party Ballot? If the corp elite will loosen their strangle hold long enough.”
gatlinggun6 on Jun 17, 2011 at 20:16:22
“Nope, because the undemocratic features of the Constitution insures that 3d parties will never gain significant power. Besides once in Congress under the rules set by the 2 major parties, which party will this minority caucus?”

“i hope so, we far lefties are as disenfranchised as many on the far right. though i don't agree with their cause, i feel their pain of being painfully underrepresented.”

“Well at least you got it posted. All I got was "undefined".”
“Shoppers can't buy, if they don't have money. Wal-mart after the old man died, began pushing lower prices instead of local AMERICAN MADE. Other companies followed suit in order to compete. Not caring about the future outcome of such decisions, they helped to bring down America's economy. If Wall-Mart really wants to renew sells, they can start by helping America. Tell their top execs to quit expecting excess profits. Return to the days of American Made & local. Support green industries & alternate fuels. When Americans have money in their pockets, they will buy again, and with pride - American Made Products.”
“Monsanto? whose trying to produce killer seeds that don't reproduce forcing you to buy seeds every year & use more & more bug killer and fertilizers or their plants don't produce? They could have chosen to go green collecting seeds world wide for grow-ability.
Lockheed Martin? whose machines are used to slaughter indiscriminately & from a distance? They could have chosen to build flying hospitals & food delivery services using alternative fuels or helped explore the Moon & Mars.
Pfizer? who makes drugs with aftereffects worse than "the cure" not to mention their long record in bio-weapons. Instead they test them on those who can't speak out for themselves. They could have used their labs to better life.
GE? Japanese nuclear power plant ring a bell? Why didn't they focus on solar, wind, tidal, bio, & other alternatives?
These companies chose greed. Who are they saving? Most of the jobs they create are overseas. How many have they destroyed? How many more will they destroy for their god - excess profit? They may be on your list, but they are not on mine.”

“The article forgot one thing they are buddies of barak and get waivers from him too.”
“W/o TARP the too-big-to-fail banks (international conglomerates run by the world elite) would have failed, been closed & inspected per law. This would have immediately exposed these banks as collapsed Ponzi schemes & hopefully led to jail time for their execs. They probably stopped this act by threatening to expose their direct ties to politicians who have been claiming to work for the people.
As for the president's hand in it, neither Bush nor Obama have that much power. They could use the Patriot Act (tooted & signed into law during the Bush Era) to declare martial law & thus themselves dictators, but we still have some checks & balances left, though not many. Also, the big elites are not yet certain they could control a true people's uprising. It is the big money elites who have a strangle hold on every Western government in the world, because we the people allowed it. Sociopaths only behave themselves when carefully watched & regulated. Physical revolutions are very messy & the outcomes are always uncertain. Support re-regulation & any politician willing to push it forward. Get the money out of your politics, judicial & voting systems before it is too late.”
“The ultra wealthy whose families survived those years, learned their lessons. They also have the money to implement, through carefully calculated propaganda, the changes they want. Fascist America is what they wanted then & what they want now. Then they cried communist anti-American activities against anyone who fought for better wages or working conditions, commodity prices that reflected the true cost to produce & ability to pay, who pointed out the extreme disparity in upper & average incomes, who spoke about corporate greed & monopolies. Now they cry socialism while pushing for fascism & calling it "trickle down economy" or "free market". They play on people's fears & prejudices. We had enough pushing against them then - real journalist, humane politicians, & noncorp sponsored activist. The people stood up against bullets & abuse from the other side. I hope we have enough to push back now. I hope the People have talked to their elders & learn their lessons. Greed is a mafia force that will overtake you & ruthlessly murder those you love. It needs regulation. It needs to be watched & held accountable for its crimes against humanity & nature. Humane businesses survived & thrived creating the strong Middle Class we now praise & long for. Stand up & clear the way, humane businesses will rise again.”
“With what's going on in our gov. today, more & more of this will happen, more and more people will be feeling desperate and unable to find help. As Grace Lee Boggs says, we all need to start caring about and taking care of each other. I hope we do.”
greenlass on Apr 16, 2011 at 14:53:35
“I agree with you. And it's been happening around us everywhere - people feeling completely desperate and without any recourse for help or support. And it is linked to the gov't policies, without a doubt. Policies that defund health agencies, school programs, export and outsource jobs, and so on and so on... These are terrible times to be young, to be old, to be alone, to be unhealthy, to be looking for a job, to be trying to get an education, to be without a reasonable income... You're right - we must be kind to one another, for we're all together in a boat that's in very stormy seas.”
Bret Martineau on Apr 16, 2011 at 11:21:01
“I agree. We need to care more for each other and take better care of each other. It'd hard to know what any one of her friends or associates could have done different in this situation, but I think if we all were more caring, people maybe wouldn't feel like they had nowhere else to turn.”

“This had nothing to do with government, this had to do with a relationship. Marriage is an institution that was created to help bind a family together during the hard times. Without strong marriages, everything else falls apart and tragedies like this happen. I pray for the surviving son and the rest of the family.”
“If the nuclear industry can regulate itself, then can drivers choose their own speeds & laws? can workers choose their own salaries and hours? can students teach themselves? can children practice self discipline? can you build w/o regards for flood planes and fires and earthquakes and high winds? Why do they get a free ride?”
Justin Dickson on Apr 15, 2011 at 09:00:14
“Why not it works for wall street. With the GOPher budget cuts to education the students just might have to teach themselves or they can all be homeschooled by Michelle Bachmann.
The Japan incident has changed my view of commercial Nuclear Power. The navy operates 100's of reactors safely but without concern for econimics. In order to make it profitable shortcuts to safety have to be made or it would be far more expensive then alternative energy sources. I don't think nuclear power can be done safely and profitably.”
“Solar energy, thermal energy, wave & hydroelectric, methane from poop.... so are so many alternatives beyond carbon and nuclear. Where is the innovative country I once believed in? Out stomping on everyone's rights, while claiming they're for less government.”
“That's because, while it is "legal" the pd & feds are still raiding farms which forces them to go through the expense of court trails during which time they loose their farms to court cost and lost jail time. Truly legalizing it would change this.”
“So legalize it! Go back to growing it outside like we did during the WW's. It doesn't take from the soil like corn. It grows anywhere. It was identified as a "weed", literally. Go back to using Hemp for what it was used for throughout the world for thousands of years, plus fuel for engines, motor oil, hemp plastics, and on and on. The problems with mj was a lie propagated by politicians paid for by major corporations who didn't want competition for cotton and petroleum. Just like during the WW's we need it again for all the natural things it provides.”
“Natives took care of this land for thousand of years with Earth friendly organic management. They learned these techniques, according to legends, because they once wasted their great land. It took years to repair, but the lesson was learned with one experience. America, you had your experience. It was called the Great Dust Bowl & was just one of the Great Depression Triggers. Insanity is repeating the same mistake while expecting different results.”

“It has been proven for a long time in many many studies that stress is the greatest cause of dis-ease. If America really wants to lower the cost of healthcare, support a living wage, a 35hr work week, and 6-wks vacation per year. This will also allow parents to spend more quality time with their children strengthening the family and creating fewer sociopaths. When people can make a living without working 60hrs per week, there is less theft and violence, less drug and alcohol consumption, and therefore less crime. Support Human Rights World Wide.”

“Sociopaths are not created, they are born that way... and so are lazy people... Appears you would fit in the typical union position where not much work is done anyway.... People who want to work less should contract to work less if that is what they want. If they were more productive..... the work week could be cut to 30 hours...... but the majority of employees do not want to work no matter the number of hours and our economy shows that.”
“Wow, a McDonald's job! Minimum wage or less and when you start making a decent wage they fire you for some trumped up reason. If you are an attractive women, they have no problem with their managers molesting and raping you. If you can tolerate their abuse, you might work your way up the ranks and buy your own McDonald's. Then you get to pay homage (in money) for as long as you own your store. Is this a stunt to make Republicans look good?”
“The new Industrialization! During the first industrialization fine craftsmen were unable to compete with factories which hired women and children for little pay to mass produce and sell products for less. This threw lots of men out of work for the first time and forced them to work as serfs to factories. Once men were willing to work for less, factories hired fewer women and children. Men were hired as managers/supervisors and pay disparity began. Let's face the facts of history. Women becoming a powerful force did not create the problem. Greedy sociopaths who feel they have the right to make millions on the backs and lives of millions will do whatever it takes to manipulate the populace so they can.”
-- Monsanto sues farmers when Monsanto's seeds are blown onto the farmer's land by Nature. They are working on seeds that will not reproduce themselves. They want to become the only seed producer, thus they will have a food monopoly and can charge whatever they want.
-- GE is pushing for even more nuclear plants which could destroy even more of the environment when Mother Earth burps due to the ice sheets melting.
--Lockheed Martin would love a WWIII, Think of all the weapons they could sale, until their production plants get blown up.
--Pfizer keeps making designer pills that few can afford and then spends millions to convince people and doctors that the pills are needed.
I didn't see any company to start settlements on Mars. I guess that's next, because we will need a new planet once this one is destroyed. 'Course only the rich will be able to buy tickets.”

“The farmers and ranchers were once the first "communist" in this country, fighting to keep their family land while trying to make a living. Their products were sold for less than it cost to produce. In response, the politicians began a very nasty campaign against independent producers and for mega monopolies (corporations). This actually occurred before there was a Soviet Union or Red China. Corporation sociopaths want the people of the world to be their happy slaves or worse, indentured servants. You have to take care of your property, but serfs can just be thrown away as long as they are encouraged to produce more (ergo anti-abortion while also anti-family support). Can you see the hypocrisy yet?”
Lesperado on Apr 5, 2011 at 10:10:53
“Increasingly, Americans do not know what communism is. If farmers and ranchers were the first communist, their land would have been owned by the government and all their food would have gone to the state and divided equally to feed the citizens.”

“How is it possible to begin a non-sensical rant about "communist farmers" and conclude with an abortion argument?”
“Hm, is this decision due to financial decisions? The military doesn't get paid for overtime.
I too recognize that Obama is not a Progressive, but I knew that during the elections. I had wanted Kucinich but our country has gone so far to the Right's "no taxes", "free markets" and "pro war" ideals, I knew he'd never get on the ballot, and didn't.
People have you awakened from your stupor? Do you recognize that we no longer live in a shaky but developing Democracy and now live in an unapologetic fascism in progress? Peacefully protest where and when and in whatever way you can. Support dissenters and whistle-blowers. Hopefully this will be enough.”

“It seems clear now that we don't have a democracy anymore. It is a plutocracy. We have elections but we don't have a choice. A reformer, an advocate for the people, does not have a chance. Our country today is not the same as it was when I was growing up in the 1960's. Power to the people? What is that? We need to cut Medicare and Social Security so we can build 10 new nuclear powered, super aircraft carriers. To do what?”
