Maxine Waters: Obama's Speech To Congressional Black Caucus Was 'A Bit Curious'

Commented Sep 27, 2011 at 15:46:27 in Politics

“They did not turn out because Obama ignored Blacks for 2 years, now berates Blacks in public, offering no real solutions to black issues. So expect the same in 2012
Reparations NOW”

Quitcherbichin on Sep 27, 2011 at 19:25:11

“Charles, do you have any idea what what happen if reparations were paid to blacks. First, they would have to sign that the reparations are accepted in total compensation for any real or imagined grievances that the person may have against the U. S. The next thing that would happen is that within 6 months, the white man would have all of that money.”

amd02148 on Sep 27, 2011 at 19:04:59

“Charles, reparations for what? what was personally done to you? why should you get a monetary award?”

amd02148 on Sep 27, 2011 at 19:02:36

“Charles, Obama had nothing to do with the turn out, a lot of Dems didn't turn out. A lot of people don't see mid-term elections as important. After what happend in 2010 and the GOP was given the House, people woke up. Most of them will be voted out next election. He is the POTUS and he's not just our president.I don't understand the people who support Maxine. The woman has a big mouth, and has done nothing for her consitituents all of her years in office. Has she ever educated them and let them know that first things first they have to put pressure on their local politicians? of course not, then voters will start holding Maxine accountable and she doesn't want that. It's much easier to pass the buck and play the blame President Obama for everything game. It takes the heat off of her. President Obama has tried to put thirty different jobs bills through, they were all struck down by the GOP. Of course she doesn't tell her consitituents this. She can get a lot more publicity blaming President Obama. Maxine might have some people snowed but Maxine is only about trying to line her own pockets. All you have to do is look up the ethics charges against her. That shows they type of person she really is.”

YBLogical on Sep 27, 2011 at 17:37:00

“Low turnout in the Black community has nothing to do with President Obama supposedly ignoring them. Too many times they don't turn out because they don't feel like it will benefit them. Then they want to complain about how nothing is getting done to help the community.

Did you expect previous presidents (Reagan, Clinton, or either Bush) to do anything specifically for the Black community? More than likely not, so why do you expect President Obama to single out Blacks for specific help. It doesn't work that way.

I would hope the Black community would pull themselves together not only to help themselves but to help the President by exercising their right to vote in all elections, whether it is a local issue or national election. That is the only real way to bring about change within the community.

What do reparations have to do with anything? Get over that one. It serves no purpose.”

pleasantlyny on Sep 27, 2011 at 17:33:48

“If yo usaw the whole speech he did not berate ANYONE.... he built up to that moment its a shame the media is flaming the fire.

He gave shout outs to the long and esteemed heritage of blacks in this country for not sitting back and complaining, john lewis, MLK, he named others and it was more of h..... THIS IS WHAT WE DO....

He said... "i cant complain, i cant grumble, I cant give it, im gonna fight, will yo ufight with me? will you march with me?

Not sure what yo umean by ignored blacks for two years... I missed the part where he should have passed a BLACK bill to help black people.”

“The sad reality is, he really doesn't have to do anything. His base will support him. He has raped the treasury on a trillion dollars and wants more. He gave Wall St. a good chunk of that without mandating that they help homeowners. They just took the money and ran. Now he says he needs more to make things right. And how will he do that? With green jobs and shovel ready jobs. It's all a hoax...but because Obama is black, well-educated and uses straw arguments like crazy...people are willing to walk the plank for him...absolutely frighening.

Regarding blacks specifically...highest unemployment rate, highest rate of foreclosures = highest voter turn out. In a word...bizarre.”

“Compton's in the House, these girls have kept their cool long enough, they have earned the right to shine and show boat if they want, I love the I aint the one Line, old Ice cube song. Do you think the Williams are unleashing their attitudes because they are getting older and have paid their dues, while accepting hoorid criticism over the years, from their hair, to physique, and grunting, but no body complained about Caprioti or Mc Enroe, Guess you have to be lilly whote to have a voice in Tennis.”

jojojo on Sep 12, 2011 at 10:13:28

“Not so fast.

You are very wrong about how McEnroe was viewed. When he acted up, he was typically booed by the crowds, not cheered as Serena was.

So in this case, to use your own criteria, I guess you have to be black to get the crowd to cheer for your bullying behavior? Would that be how you'd characterize it?”
