MANY THANKS to the people serving in our Armed Forces AND to their furry companions. I am sure the splits are so hard on both parties and it makes me so happy to see friends reunited.

My husband and I am kept by four dogs AND four cats. Last year I spent a mere month away -- and I was lucky enough to have my husband home and caring for our brood. I was just blown away by the love and affection and JOY the dogs showed at my homecoming (the cats SEEMED happy too but it's just not the same -- sorry cat fanciers!).

It may have been mentioned earlier in the posts, but there are several organizations that provide foster care for the companions of our military personnel. About 20-25 years ago, my wuzband and I attended a taping of "Late Night with David Letterman.­" He had done his "Stupid Human Tricks" segment and was interviewing guest Peter Scolari (you know, the "other guy" from "Bosom Buddies"). Mr. Scolari did the same trick -- but while UPSIDE-DOW­N... AND I also seem to remember him using his FEET but I couldn't get a hold of my ex to confirm that part! It was amazing to watch! (I tried finding a clip but couldn't..­.) Does anyone else remember this?

I for one do not feel a glass of wine or beer a week will make one's child an alcoholic. There are many that have suffered from foetal alcohol syndrome that have not become alocholics.
