“The republicans are winning on this because congessional democrats have NEVER had a backbone and they didn't grow one for this fight. Obama was a fool to think that all he had to do was dream up health care reform and that congress would do the heavy lifting to make it happen. The democrats, who have a majority in BOTH houses, will back down to vocal republicans just as they have in the past under the guise of "bipartisanship." Never mind that the republicans never thought to include the dems when they were in control. It's one of the things that drive me crazy---congressional spineless jellyfish.”

“I'm disappointed in Obama as well. The flip flop on issues is disturbing. But it's not as disturbing as the image I have in my head of George W. Bush laughing his ass off at Obama. Obama, who criticized the polices of W on the campaign trail, has now embrace so many of them as president. It must make Bush either laugh or feel vindicated. And that bothers me. I would hope it bothers you as well.”

“First of all, President Fierce Advocate campaigned on the fact that as President he could handle multiple issues at one time. I believe he said it was akin to walking and chewing gum. Second, he doesn't need to set aside the rest of the country's issues. It would only take a phone call or a written missive to put a temporary halt to DADT. Then his aides (that's what he has) can work with Congressional Democrats to move permanent legislation through both Houses of Congress. It really doesn't take that much effort from President Fierce Advocate. So how much time is a phone call or a written note? 15 minutes? A half hour? If President Fierce Advocate can't take thatmuch time out of his Adminsitration for upholding one of his key election promises, then perhaps the job really is too big for him.”

“Candidate Obama called himself a "fierce advocate for gay rights." As such, I believe now as President he must show us that he is still that "fierce advocate" and not just another politican who said what he needed to say to get elected. I'm not asking for overturn of DOMA or DADT at this exact moment. I do realize it may take time to advance legislation on these issues. But I would like to see the President of the United States acknowledge our issues and the work that needs to be done to bring about equality for us. I do not want to read a statement on a website or in a press release. I want the man to stand in front of a group of LBGT folks and a camera and tell America why it's wrong to discriminate and that he has a plan. I don't need lame jokes about him and Axelrod going to Iowa to "make it official." I don't need Obama to ask which promisese gay and lesbians are talking about. He belittles us and himself with such stupid remark. It's time to walk the walk, Mr. Obama.”

“Even progressive legal scholars look back at Roe v. Wade and consider whether that Supreme Court decision short-circuited a grassroots process, which had already been seeing states move to legalize abortion. Some believe that the SC move served to energize reactionary opposition that might not have coalesced as vigorously had the states been allowed to continue on their paths.

I understand that, now given the states' own movement on marriage equality, it doesn't necessarily help the movement to have the president use the pulpit at this time. I don't say he has indefinite leave to avoid the issue, but I also think it makes sense this month, and maybe this year, for him to watch the states and see what happens.”

“I'm really torn on this one, to be honest....on the one hand, yes, President Obama does need to speak out and clarify his position on this and at least make a statement, even if it is vague and full of political jargon. On the other hand, I can't help but go back to something he said awhile back about "if you want me to do it, make me do it", so maybe he really is letting this be a state issue and when 26 states legalize marriage equality, then he will come out and make the necessary federal changes to make sure the other states don't have the federal government to scapegoat for not allowing marriage equality

Just a thought, in no way do I claim to know anything for sure”

“It never fails to amaze me that men think they can do this kind of thing. A man decides that if he can't keep his wife, she shouldn't keep her children and proceeds to kill them to make sure she doesn't get them. In anaother state a child is missing. If her disappearance follows "the norm," she was abducted by a man. Why does a guy think he can just snatch a child from her home, from her parents just because he wants her? And please don't say that it's not all men. It's just always men. Looking at the shooting headlines around the country this week, how many women went postal and killed their children or snatched a child?”

The problem is that life is cheap when there are 6.6 Billion people on the planet. As a society we have become desensitized to violence. “I have my own "recovery" package. Give every U.S. Citizen $1 million. The first requirement is that the money be used to pay off debt. That takes care of the credit problem. Most people would eb able to purchase a home and that takes care of the mortgage issue. Many folks would probably buy a car or two. That takes care of the Big Three in Detroit. People would still have money left over to buy things which means jobs open up. Some folks could use the money to start a business. And other folks would save their money. For children under the age of 18, their $1 million would be put into a trust for education. If they don't go to college or other post high school form of education, they would get their money at age 26. The country has 300 million citizens. Even at $1 million per person, this would still be cheaper than most stimulus packages I've read about. And it puts the money into the hands of the people who need it the most.”
