Sunday Roundup

Commented Nov 29, 2009 at 12:25:30 in Politics

“lol. The Public option being discussed isn't even gonna be available to the 'public'. Only a select few will be eligible. The rest will be forced to buy private insurance, after the elections in 2012, when the backlash won't matter no more to the current administration. They should just drop the healthINSURANCE reform bill, and move on to something else, unless they want to start over and give 'everyone' a 'seat at the table', instead of escorting single-payer advocates out the front door on the first day......,”

jmpurser replied on Nov 29, 2009 at 13:16:24

“Agreed.

It would be nice if there was just one elected official in DC who would stand up and say "Sorry, we're MUCH too corrupt to pass anything like a good health care reform bill."”

“I'll wait for the President's speech on Tuesday, to make a determination on whether I support his decision ,or not. If he can give solid reasons for continuing, along with a clear mission, and an exit strategy, that doesn't leave the door open forever, I may be able back him up. But, I been upset about the delay of withdraw from Iraq for an entire year, more than Afghanistan. Sofa did provide that we could expedite a withdraw, and with our military stretched so thin and worn out, I see no reason why he made the decision to keep all the troops there. SOME of them should have been coming home, already......, That would have made this decision easier......,”

Get Ready for the Obama/GOP Alliance

Commented Nov 25, 2009 at 12:44:38 in Politics

“I couldn't agree more with yer article, and have said so repeatedly at this site. Some of these so-called dems who are just repubs in dem clothing even call me 'fringe' for supporting single-payer, not supporting the endless wars ,and all these corporate giveaways including HC reform. It's like the Clinton machine took over the Obama movement at the dem convention and it all been deja vu all over again....., We'll never get real change this way.......,

I may have to go back to the libertarian party just to fight against Health Insurance mandates, that are clearly unconstitutional, without an affordable gubmint option that is truly 'optional' to everyone.

On the escalation in afghanistan, I am willing to wait and hear the official announcement, but, if it doesn't include a clear exit strategy, I may have to put my protest clothes on and go hit the streets with the teagaggers. Problem is, they don't take to hippies with 'protest doobies' at their rallies.......,I prolly have ta start my own protest, right here in the heart of bluedog country, in Arkansas, USA.....,”

“She's my Senator. I'll be calling her to ask her to vote no. Not for the same reasons she doesn't support it, but, more in line with Kucinich's reason's for not supporting it. Whatever works, this bill is too weak and meaningless to continue to support. Come up with something that doesn't reward insurance companies for driving us into this ditch and I'm all about reform. Until ya do that, ferget it.....,”

meko replied on Nov 11, 2009 at 15:25:50

“The bill is a bad bill, especially since the addition of the Stupak amendment. Bill Clinton has been brought on board to pressure progressives into supporting a trigger that will never go into effect and will provide no break against inevitable rising costs once we are all made into captive consumers by the individual mandate.

If she focused on the real weaknesses of the bill, she could get liberal support, or at least get them off her back.”

Memo to Congress: On Health Care Vote You Must Choose Between Insurance Companies and Average Americans

“The democrats already chose the Insurance companies, the republicans are irrelevant, and I see nothing to gain in continuing this process, until the 'Gubmint' starts listening to the people, instead of their lobbyist buddies and corporate masters. This bill is nothing but 'Politics of the Past' and we voted to stop that. Kill the bill, and start over! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!”

JoBangles replied on Nov 06, 2009 at 20:59:34

“I agree. This bill is designed for the benefit of the insurance industry, not the people. The only system that will ever be "fair & balanced" is single payer - period. Better to stop this BS bill and let the numbers of those without health care rise to the level that they will simply strom the gates of Wall Street/Washington and send the criminals to the gallows. Enough is enough.”

capitaldysfunction replied on Nov 06, 2009 at 18:03:54

“Note to Harry Reid, my senior U.S. Senator: Reconciliation. Rather than electing the Snowes and other prostitutes for the robber barons of the Insurance Big Phrma Industrial Complex as our Supreme Leaders, tell the Supreme Leaders we're not going to let the tail wag the dog. Run a real health care reform with a public option available to everybody through the Senate goalposts by using reconciliation. Then let the American people, in effect, decide in the 2010 and 2012 elections whether they want to keep health care reform.
Damn site better than turning it over to the Supreme Leaders to placate the insurers, or seeing the Democrats get slaughtered in future elections because they didn't pass a real health care bill. And it would demonstrate that Dems really do have testicles.”

“Congressman Grayson. Did you sign the pledge by the CPC to not support a bill without a strong P.O.? If ya did, ya need to stand by yer pledge......,this is no longer a reform bill. It is nothing but a gift to insurance companies. the mandate will force added hardship on the lower-working-class, by requiring coverage without an affordable option to private insurance. They have limited the eligibility to about 2% of people. How is that considered an 'option'?.....,I think yer turning into a drama queen, just trying to sucker progressives into getting behind this useless mess that you call 'reform'.....,”

Countdown to Health Care: Crossing the Finish Line on the Public Option
