“My apologies, Kent. In a previous reply I misqouted your point on government run health care, (I called it a government takeover). Still, the former includes Medicare, and its recipients, including my parents, love it. Yes, it needs fixing and better funding, yet it works!”

“Antonio...you used the term 'dumbed down' before I could use it about YOU and your ignorant, nonsensical types. Reich wingers like you, and the "news" outlets from which you get your talking points, are so out of touch with reality that it'd be funny if it weren't so sad.

Here's a novel idea for you: DO A LITTLE RESEARCH ON YOUR OWN! It'll take less then 10 minutes, I promise. Google things like our country's rankings in the world regarding life expectancy, infant moratlity, cost per person, etc. (Hint: If the rankings were like the national hockey league, where almost every team makes the playoffs, we would actually MISS the playoffs because of the rankings).

Also look at neutral sites like politifact.com. For that matter look at the site that would be soooo p*ssed about the President's phantom death panels, (AARP), and see how and why they SUPPORT reform.

If you want some help, I'm sure many of us would be glad to help.”

“Thanks CTtransplant. Words of encouragement indeed. Like you and millions of others, today I mourn the Senator's passing, (and have learned SO MUCH more about him). Tomorrow, I continue my efforts, meager as they may be, with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment. Thanks again.”

“ComeOnAmerica, every little bit helps! One person alone can indeed make a difference, but many working together can accomplish great things! We are all in this together.

And thanks to you, too! I guess we have encouraged each other!”

“Thanks D2D2 and lynettema! There are so many knee-jerk, 24/7 news cycle comments here that it's sad. As I said in another post, we must keep our eyes on the bigger picture, not worry about how the wind bows a certain way on a certain day. You're both right: When was the last time we had a President who wanted to listen to us?

Like you, I'm with him!”

“OK, Obamalicious, one more time.....The conservatives have ben operating under a playbook developed by Lee Atwater and embelished by Karl Rove. Some of the 'plays' are to sling any type of garbage you can at an opponent, knowing full well that what you're slinging is false to begin with. Then you move on to such Christian-like things as personal (and now, racial) attacks and slurs, in the hopes of fear-mongering the lesser educated (re--Fox viewers and Limbaugh listeners), into believing the attacks are facts. They also do something called projecting, whereby a repub throws out accusations of which the repug is actually guilty of or compliant with. Kind of like how you project being a communist with your sickle and hammer, while trying---and failing---to project that to the President.”

“Its disgusting how the MSM went from being stenographers for the Bush terms, (aside from a few---Isikoff, (sp?) Corn--whatever happened to investigative journalism?), and now all of a sudden the MSM grows a pair? Policies haven't even had time to take root and "journalists" are indeed sounding like the righties....very negative.”

A Better Way to Reform Health Care

Commented Jun 09, 2009 at 13:57:19 in Politics

“No, not all the time....And let me ask you in all seriousness: If you dislike government 'intervention' so much, do you reject social security checks that come your way, (if you're eligible now), or will you reject them when you do become eligible? Do any of your family members receieve social security or medicare? I do, and it's a God send!! You can't have it both ways.

I challenge Sen. Coburn and his colleagues----If they are so against the big bad government running insurance, will they be willing to give up their government-provided health care and go with a private plan?”

“Right here, and from a domestic policy perspective, bush preferred to reign in government, not use it as a bludgeon. You know, less regulation, lower taxes, less government interference in the market.

I can't recall when he "showed them" (i.e. private companies) who's boss.

Admittedly his foreign policy, in particular iraq was certainly more interventionist, but he didn't exactly tell american companies to get in line or else, which obama has done with banks, auto companies, hedge funds etc.”
