The way it works is Microsoft is first in, software makers make software for their OS, consumers want the OS that has the most software options, more consumers buy Microsoft OS, so more software makers make Microsoft OS software. Once they get this first entrant advantage, it's big trouble for any competitor to grab a foothold. And if they do.. they are bought out by Microsoft or Oracle or whoever the monopolist is.”

“That figure is not possible. A typical grow site in the Sierras is fed by a one-inch poly tube. That will support about 3,000 plants. The flow varies according to the supply tube length and net elevation drop but if we figure about 20 gallons per minute, that would give about 9.6 gallons per plant per day. This figure is definitely on the high side. They probably get much less. Some sites with less than two thousand plants are hand watered. These are usually tended by one or two growers. I suspect the writer of the article was told "1.5" gallons, not "15."”

“It depends on the humidity. On very dry days it naturally takes more water. They teke in water through there roots and leaves. On a humid day 75% and higher they require much less water. I use only natural fertilizers (cow and chicken manure). Never use chemical fertilizer or any insect repellant. So they don't have to effect the environment. Haven't paid for weed in years.”
