“Im in Atlanta. Its a progressive oasis in the sea of deep red south. As more people move here from the north the influence continues to expand.
I'm in Gwinnett County which is the largest in Georgia. I'd say it's about half and half now, although the county went for McCain and the incumbent Congressman (I couldnt pick him out fo a lineup), The side thats closer to Atlanta has more progrressives.

“A lot of Northeasterners, including myself, have moved to the South. The weather is generally nicer, and the cost of living is so much cheaper it's not even funny.

“Seems like it all depends on proportions, in cities such as ATL, Charlotte, Chapel Hill, etc. there is a genuine progressive base, other places have entrenched GOP institutional power structures dating to the mass defections of the Dixiecrats to the GOP...
Many nice people in both parts, but there's nothing as surreal as getting a robocall from a paleoconservative southern politician who assumes you are either a red.neck or a good ole boy if european or northern.
My hope is that the exburbs of the major southern cities get bluer, I do not expect the country to go blue, at least not yet, mentally the majority there are still Erskin Caldwell put them in his 1930's novels, in terms of politics..

If you knew this, that's great. But a lot of people don't know that, and chalk it up to saying "it's all poison". No one is forcing it on anyone. If you don't want to take it, or your child, that's your choice. But this new strain is affecting a lot of children and young adults. It's a tough choice for any parent.”
