Bill Clinton Blasts Olbermann For Politicizing Health Care Event, Refuses To Go
Commented Nov 22, 2009 at 08:51:29 in Politics
“For all the good he does, Bill Clinton has an incredible ability to stick his foot in his mouth. It is not politicizing to simply state the truth. Something all journalists and politicians need to realize.”

Bill Moyers Retiring From Weekly Television
Commented Nov 22, 2009 at 08:48:47 in Media
“A huge loss to journalism, Bill Moyers offered what remained of intelligent thoughtful, progressive journalism. There will be no one to fill his void.
Journalism has become so partisan, so tabloidized, that the ilk of Bill Moyers has been all but lost to the country and to the world. Now it will be lost. I am deeply deeply saddened by this inevitable reality.”

Melody Barnes's Semi-Endorsement Of Gay Marriage Causes Discomfort In White House

“I have no idea what your position is on gay marriage, but as long as you are not opposed to it on the basis of procreation, then we are in agreement, on at least that. Marriage is both a civil and a religious institution. No one is advocating interfering with the religious issues, just the civil ones.”

“Exactly, Based on this nonsense, sterile couples or people who opted not to have children would not be allowed to be married. Get off your high horse and realize this is about tax laws and property rights and visitation and decision making. It has nothing to do with children or religion. It is the state we are talking about ,a nd the states recognition of the rights, not a religious institution. Chriches would stil be allowed to marry or not marry in accordance iwth their faith. The marriage license that is a civil issue however would be granted.

“There must be a strong comprehension problem here and plain language is summarized and edited at the luxury of the reader. I am not on my high horse ...I am at my computer engaged in a dialogue that is NOT politically correct but is raw and to the point. I am stating my views as YOU are stating yours. I am not seeking to make laws ...just sharing my strong convictions and deeply held views. I am not the least bit interested in stopping a Gay person from marrying which is conveniently overlooked for the need to label me as homophobic....no I am a human being that has a brain that uses critical thinking mechanism to ask the question why is there a need to pretend to be what one is not. YOU can continue to believe whatever you desire about yourself...but when I see two men and two women...I think the feelings are genuine but the category is different....this is MY truth that you do not have to adopt and I in the same bold way...do not have to adopt your definition either...now that is real equality and freedom..the right to think as one please.”

Hannity: Jon Stewart Was Right About Protest Footage (VIDEO)
Commented Nov 12, 2009 at 18:38:55 in Media
“Hannity apologized for inadvertently mixing the footage but was another lie. You do not inadvertently dig up footage from two months ago and mix it in with new footage and then lie about the number of people at the actual rally and reinforce it with that old video. Hannity lied and got caught. He may have admitted what he could not deny - the video was from an earlier rally - but he did not admit the truth, that he deliberately lied and used the video to support that lie.”

Commented Nov 08, 2009 at 10:30:53 in Politics
“This is an example of a man who truly represents the people of his district and not his party. He should be richly rewarded for doing the right thing.
This bill is nothing to be too proud of - too many compromises made to support the insurance lobby. But it is better than nothing and begins the process of change. The Bill would have passed without Cao's vote, but with it, it is that much sweeter. It gives a small glimmer of hope that some politicians do have souls.”

However, you should be damn proud of this bill man. It's the first time - and a historic decision - anything about insurance has been passed that benefits the population in any way since Medicaid, for heavens sake. And you know how long ago THAT was! So yes, the process of change has begun.
So it's all good. It is an excellent start. Think of the glass as half full NOT half empty. Let's work from there.
Cheers”

You cite the work of the Innocence Project and their success of reversing death penalty cases, but those are innocent people that the State of Texas DID NOT execute.
So, please re-read my post and list some of the innocent people that Texas executed. And again, try to provide a link or something that proves they were innocent.”

“Texas has a long history of executing innocent men and women and over zealous prosecution. On this, Texas has a much deserved bad reputation. The Innocence Project has had enormous success in over turning hundreds of death penalty cases in Texas. Many states - especially in the South - have a bad record with death penalty cases, but Texas beats them all, executing more people in ten years than the rest of the country has in the last fifty.”

Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize
Commented Oct 09, 2009 at 10:32:27 in Politics
“Obama was given the prize for the Earth shattering change in tone of the United States and the move toward a more peaceful world. It may seem prematire to some, but look around at the world and ask yourself, were we not all facing a more troubled world before he was elected President?
While it is true there is much to change in the coming years and he may not live up to his promise. Still, the promise is there and what he has done already is move America back into the community of nations. It is well deserved, if for that alone. Being part of the community of nations, and working together for a better world is such a change in attitude and tone to be monumental in its effect on the world.
Conservatives may be horrified at his selection, but that is because it puts a laser focus on the shenanigans they were a part of for the past 8 years and reminds us, though things are not good, they are light years better than the direction we were moving under the Bush Administration.”
