Justin Timberlake Christens His Eco-Friendly Golf Course

Commented Jul 26, 2009 at 23:49:05 in Entertainment

“Sounds like it is actually eco-friendly. This is from a related article which can be found here:

http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/jul/24/mirimichi-golf-course-coolest-thing-timberlake-has/

He invested about $16 million in the course, which was the first in the country to be certified as a "classic sanctuary" by Audubon International, in recognition of the course's "environmentally sustainable" design, which is intended to make it as friendly for wildlife and native plants as for golfers.

Only about 85 of the facility's 200 acres are "mowable" turf -- the rest has been given over to "native grasses," according to Rich Peterson, Mirimichi general manager.”

Dorian replied on Jul 27, 2009 at 01:03:55

“Audubon International is not connected in any way to the Audubon Society. Rather it is a "green wash" group created by the golf course industry to declare golf courses eco-friendly.
There will have to be some serious management of the "native grasses" on this course. Since Memphis isn't a prairie the grassland would only exist as long as it takes for a new forest to regrow in the area. So I guess they'll be using a lot of Roundup.”

“None - we're the only idiotic country that hasn't stepped up to the plate for its citizenry.

Canada's system is for the most part publicly funded, yet most of the services are provided by private enterprises or private corporations, although most hospitals are public.

France & Japan employ a multi-payer system in which health care is funded by private and public contributions.

Germany has the world's oldest universal health care system, with origins dating back to Otto von Bismarck's Health Insurance Act of 1883.

Britain and Italy have eliminated insurance entirely and choose to fund health care directly from taxation.

Virtually all of Europe has publicly sponsored and regulated health care. The public plans in some countries provide basic or "sick" coverage only; their citizens can purchase supplemental insurance for additional coverage. Countries with universal health care (besides those already mentioned above) include Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the Ukraine.

If "socialized medicine" is so bad, tell me why the United States ranks behind a good majority of these countries in average life span and infant mortality rates.”

“I wonder if you were so quick to assign responsibility for all the f$&k ups Bush brought us when he was our President.

The CIA has been an independent arm of government that operates outside of the law since its inception. They've done many things without informing the President of all the details or in many cases flat out lied.

By the way, Bay of Pigs was an operation that was devised, planned and ordered by the EISENHOWER administration and was dumped in Kennedy's lap less than 3 months after he took office. He was not aware of all of the plans and did not authorize all of the operations yet he took the full blame for the failure - something your boy Bush has never done in his life.

The Diem coup was conducted by ARVN Generals and the U.S. government agreed not to interfere - there was no operational planning backed by the U.S. government and Kennedy was outraged when he learned of the execution of Diem by the ARVN Generals.

The assassination attempt on Castro's life was directly ordered by Robert F. Kennedy, not John F. Kennedy. What President in his right mind would give a direct order that could possibly spark WWIII? He had his brother handle it so he wouldn't be attached to any attempt on Castro's life.”

“This has been going on since 1954, maybe you didn't notice while you were riding your waves and living in your cabana but it hasn't changed since 1954. The citizens of Central and South America have suffered under U.S.-backed totalitarian regimes for years and yes it STILL goes on today under Obama. Just because he's President doesn't mean he won't continue long standing policies in these regions. And by the way, if you think the President has complete control of the CIA you don't know jack squat about the Intelligence Community. Read the Church hearings to get a better idea of how much the CIA keeps from the President so he can claim "plausible deniability". Pick up the following books for more information on this topic:

“The proof lies in the past:

In 1954, the democratically elected Guatemalan government of Colonel Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán was toppled by U.S.- backed forces lead by Colonel Carlos Castillo Armas who invaded FROM HONDURAS. Assigned by the Eisenhower administration, this military opposition was armed, trained and organized by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency. The directors of United Fruit Company (UFCO) had lobbied to convince the Truman and Eisenhower administrations that Colonel Arbenz intended to align Guatemala with the Soviet Bloc.

This is a matter of historical record, not opinion. If they UFCO could convince the CIA and the President to topple the Guatemalan government, what makes you think that Honduras would not also be a target?”

“Well I'm a white guy and quite frankly I'm offended by the r.e.d_neck white guys who call themselves "Senators" who are "offended" by Sotomayor's comments. Her comments were on point and correct and they need to check themselves. This false outrage and calling Sotomayor a "racist" is the most ridiculous crap I've ever heard. Seriously, the party that embraces K.K.K. sympathizers like Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions is now crying racism? What's next? Are they going to next claim she's also a sexist? To all my fellow white males out there, here's a tip for you: You have no idea what it feels like to experience INSTITUTIONALIZED racism or sexism as a white male. Name me one situation where African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, women or any other minority group has enough power to give themselves a significant advantage over white males - I challenge you. Quit crying racism - it's an absolute insult to those who have actually experienced it first hand.”
