Gay Rights Speech: What Should Obama Say Tonight?

Commented Oct 07, 2009 at 21:38:09 in Politics

“That's not true. That's not a US statistic.

"These numbers are based on figures provided by a broad-based coalition of gay rights organizations and homosexual advocacy groups. The primary source cited was the The National Health and Social Life Survey (NHSLS), published in the book The Social Organization of Sex: Sexual Practices in the United States (1994), by Laumann, Gagnon, Michael and Michaels."

Can't get more vague than "a broad-based coalition..." with no one group or organization being named. And to quote a 1992 study where none of the particulars are given, nor the possible agenda or bias of those conducting the survey, is just bad science. That's not a reliable figure.”

On Losing a Human Rights Icon and a Beloved Uncle

Commented Sep 02, 2009 at 13:11:12 in Politics

“What a beautiful tribute to your Uncle Teddy and our Senator Teddy. Thank you so much for sharing your remembrances with us, Kerry. He was truly a great man, the likes of whom this planet doesn't get to see often enough. I will miss him, too.

We've been blessed to have him and your family with us through the years, fighting injustice, advocating for We The People, and trying to right the wrongs wherever possible. My eternal gratitude to Joe and Rose for giving us the gift of so many amazing public servants. Your family is an inspiration. Many blessings are wished for you and your's.”
