Why Hemp, The Sustainable Wonder Crop, Is Sweeping The Nation

Why Hemp, The Sustainable Wonder Crop, Is Sweeping The Nation

Commented May 3, 2014 at 11:09:45 in Green

“Industrial hemp is why marijuana was criminalized in the first place...lobbied for criminalization back in the late 30's by the cotton and timber industries...and today guess what industry is 95% GMO?...cotton. And led by Monsanto who is supported fully by Obama, the FDA and his administration. Yes industrial hemp will revolutionize the textile and composite industries as well as medicine and food but will be fought all the way by those in the current administration and Biotech.”

““Cannabis hemp was outlawed in 1937, before these magazine made it to the stands. http://www.jackherer.com/thebook/chapter-three/

February 1938 – Popular Mechanics Magazine:
“NEW BILLION-DOLLAR CROP”

February 1938 – Mechanical Engineering Magazine:
“THE MOST PROFITABLE & DESIRABLE CROP THAT CAN BE GROWN”

They changed the name of cannabis hemp to 'marijuana', spun madness and wha-la, cannabis hemp was outlawed, before they could use the new revolutionary hemp processing machines. They were allowed to outlaw the competition, before it's full capabilities were even felt.

This didn't happen by accident. They outlawed cannabis hemp with purpose. It wasn't for our countries greater good. It was done for corporations bottom line. They eliminated a renewable resource from competition, by spinning 'marijuana' as a demon drug. Many doctors did not realize the 'marijuana' they were talking about was actually cannabis until it was too late to stand up. If doctors stood up, they were threatened with loosing their medical licenses.”

It's time to move past the 'drug war rhetoric' and get our country back on course. The war on cannabis has silenced the voices of reason, who feared drug testing tomorrow, if they spoke out today. Can't stand up for honesty, because they are allowed to lie. Sad! Sad! Sad!

Testing for cannabis has turned many Americans to alcohol. They can legally drink on the weekend and keep their jobs. Consume cannabis in the privacy of one's own home, can lead to loss of job. They have not been honest. That's all there is to it.”

“the prison lobby and biotech cotton are leading in support for tougher mandatory sentences...Monsanto has it's grubs in 95% of cotton produced in this country and prison lobby are simply slavers for corporate profit while using taxpayer money to build prisons. If Marijuana is legalized, so will industrial hemp and industrial hemp will decimate the cotton industry within 10 years as well as the wood pulp industry. The current administration supports anything mass corporate..all the rhetoric you hear out of Holder is just biding time until this administration can tuck its tail and run. Obama penned 9 billion to DEA for marijuana investigations for this year alone. Don't expect any federal movement for decrim or legalization until 2016 at best. http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-prison-industry-in-the-united-states-big-business-or-a-new-form-of-slavery/8289

“I wonder how many millions is being lobbied by the cotton industry(95%gmo) as industrial hemp would also be affected by schedule 1 drop. Industrial hemp will also decimate the wood pulp industry as hemp is a more economical, sturdier commodity than cotton or wood for textiles, composites etc....as well as law enforcement across the board. Both of these lobbies hide behind the pharma misnomer and dump tons of cash into efforts to keep marijuana schedule 1. Law enforcement gets to rob american taxpayers as well as rob the "loot" confiscated in pot raids.”

“I used to believe that but with companies like Sativex etc working hard to patent THC... My opinion is that pharma might be pushing to have it decriminalized, not legalized in order to corner markets if biotech and corporations are able to get these patents through. So far they've failed but not by much.”

in1nuthouse on Mar 26, 2014 at 14:47:32

“since you can't patent a natural growing substance.....

did you know that Monsanto has produced a GMO feminized self pollinating marijuana plant? I say the reason we are seeing more support on the legalization is because Monsanto has already came up with a way to genetically tag and there for control the pot that will be available. Just like the FDA and Monsanto has done with our food supply and the farmers!!! I think the two industries are more alike than what most people want to admit, and just think how easy it would be to control marijuana like they do farmers and our foods......I still don't see how me buying a local farmers spinach is harmful, when the stuff I buy in the grocery store that has government approval carries salmonella......”

“the alternatives are countless, but due to illegality, they haven't been developed...ie..compressing hemp will all but destroy the wood pulp business as well as brick. clothing made from hemp will outlast cotton by 4/1. Another reason hemp hasn't taken off in the isa is simply tariffs. It's not affordable to import hemp products for the average american while it is still illegal.”

“I think by now, most Americans realize that the "groups" opposing marijuana legalization are simply lobbies...timber, cotton, law enforcement(fed and local) as no president has the balls to lobby to have it taken out of schedule 1. Legalization or decriminalization will open up the industrial hemp industry which will step heavily on cotton, which is 90% gmo, which is controlled mostly by Monsanto, who Obama took a lobbyist from and appointed to the FDA....sure, these lobbies will finance some patsy illiterate group who's arguments are not worth debating. It's comes down to how much these groups will loose vs how much will be made in this fledgling industry..taxes aside.”

“I've been saying that for a long time! Thank you for making my voice feel a little louder. The lobbyists are terrified of becoming one of the lowly poor and unemployed because the HEMP industry alone would blow them away!”

IChingUChingWeAllChing on Mar 25, 2014 at 18:49:39

“Canada has had legal hemp for some time. It has been and will likely remain a niche market because hemp products are really only purchased by people trying to make a statement. Unlike Canada's timber industry which grows every year.
Hemp paper is more expensive than wood pulp (higher processing costs). Hemp fabric is very rough and has higher processing costs than cotton. Hemp rope, like all rope made from organic fibers, rots. Hemp seeds have a bland taste, etc.
You and every other American are already free to purchase hemp products. You just don't.”

IChingUChingWeAllChing on Mar 25, 2014 at 18:45:46

“Many countries already have legal hemp while outlawing high-THC Cannabis sativa. Also, you are already free to purchase hemp products in the US. The reason people don't is there are superior alternatives.”

MotorcycleBoy on Mar 25, 2014 at 18:12:48

“You left out a major opposition force...Big Pharma.

Also, the Prez doesn't have to lobby anyone to take MJ off Schedule 1, he could do it w/ an Executive Order. The fact that our former 'stoner' president hasn't done this yet, is shameful, to say the least.

Agree on the rest too.”
