“Campbell Brown's husband is a Republican consultant who works for FOX. Did she say that? No. I suspect she is holding out for a larger bid from FOX, at which point she will simply go there for her money. It's not about truth or good journalism. It's about money. Just like a Wall Street banker.”

“This is an indictment of Home Depot, and their nutty CEO than Bank of America, who, it is said, played a minor role. It is perhaps a pregnant coincidence that a Home Depot in midtown Charlotte closed its doors yesterday. Everything I know about BOA, at least historically, tells me that the shaken CEO (syndrome?) was not speaking for the bank, since the bank has been a godsend for many communities, being a good neighbor, funding the arts and job creation, listening, being an early adopter of green technologies, and so on. An exemplar, truth the told, and not a villain. At least this is my judgment after decades of watching them, knowing their people, banking with them, and seeing how they've created so much good in places they've been. It is important to expose bad practices, but it is equally important, especially now, to also highlight good practices. And on most things, I think the bank really does strive, and achieve, higher standards, and certainly needs to continue being a bank of opportunity...because Lord knows America and the world could use more light. As a product of San Francisco and Charlotte, the bank is not really a typical Wall Street anything. I personally think they could well be a very large part of the solution to the problems we face today. Best to arm ourselves with the complete picture before casting judgments.”

Indubio replied on Jan 27, 2009 at 16:15:20

“The BofA today is not the historical Bank of American. BofA was a Calif based company with a 100 year history of community service. That bank was bought out by a bunch of scumbags from Charlotte with envisions of grandeur who ran Nations Bank. BofA is Nations Bank so don't be fooled by the name. BofA died ten years ago. Any bank associated with Charlotte is as bad or worse then Wall Street. These pricks wanted to replace Wall Street with Charlotte. I don't trust any bank out of Charlotte or NY in fact I would n;t trust any bank anywhere unless it was purely a local entity with a strong history of community service. Bank of America is slimy beause its executives are slimy. Take a look at how the BofA take over occurred if you want to see scumbags in action.”

“I personally find Joel Osteen to be a refreshing change of pace, particularly when you compare him with the vitriolic and hate-filled blowhard, John Hagee. Rev. Osteen has had the good graces to have been taken in by Billy Graham -- something that Hagee could not even buy. As such, he seems to have absorbed some of Billy Graham's magnanimity and progressive spirit.
On my TV, Hagee follows Osteen. I call it the Heaven and Hell Hour. Joel brings Heaven, and Hagee Hell.

“Each time the sword goes into John, it goes into Elizabeth as well. And it cuts to the heart of their children as well. If John were a brave defender of the rich, like most Republicans, be probably would not be going through this "fifth trial". But he is a brave defender of the poor, and like Gandhi and Jesus, he is persecuted, and his family is persecuted.

Some people think that by hating or scolding John, they are somehow being nice to Elizabeth, but this is not the case. It is the opposite of the case, and I would ask that these "would-be do-gooders" realize the pain they are causing Elizabeth to suffer. Has she not suffered enough? If she forgave him, don't you think she would have US forgive him as well?
Maybe we are not that good. Maybe we are merciless schadenfreudists who relish watching Elizabeth squirm with each jab at her family and husband.

I am disappointed in John, yes, but I will be more disappointed if he lets the brave defenders of the rich beat him down.”

But John Edwards is no Hitler, and most Americans know this. In fact they know he is at the other extreme of Hitler. Rather than dedicating himself to taking lives, he has dedicated himself to saving lives.
He is guilty of too much love. Not too little.
Those who are attacking him are guilty of that.

But did he think about how it would effect the party if he did get it and then it came out? That was my first thought this morning when I saw the news and I did some posts about it, it wasn't the affair itself. Taking risks for someone or something other than yourself is a selfish thing to do, and when it's a political party and at a time when so much is at stake, it is doubly selfish.”

“One mustn't discount the power of evolution. North Carolina and Virginia are starting to realize that they are more like the amazing and awesome blue states on the map, like, well, the east and west coast, than are they like your more landlocked states, like West Virginia and Oklahoma.
NC, VA and Georgia all have fine centers of learning, and the word gets passed around.
It's harder to dupe a Carolinian, a Virginian or even a Georgian, although the same cannot be true of Georgian Ws.
In the end, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Alabama may be the only red strongholds. This does not paint a very pretty picture for the future of red states.
Back to evolution. SC and Florida will follow NC and Va into the blue, and the skies themselves will turn blue in commemoration of this overdue correction. See, there is a cause for optimism!”

“I too worked with Interface/Comdex in the 80s, and can assure you that Adelman is no Soros, although he does have a lot of money. He is more like a Southie who has just robbed a bank. His parties were expensive affairs that largely celebrated him. At one party, I, a lowly conference biographer, chose to wear tails, and when he saw me in the bathroom, primping, mumbled "You can't buy class".
I only wish he had been looking in the mirror when he said that.
If he happens to reading this, let me say to him: Get off your high horse, man, and learn a little humility, before you become just another blood-thirsty stain on humanity. Your embrace conceals a strangulation; your kiss a bite. Snap out of your Napoleonic hallucination, and learn to love your brothers and sisters...not kill them.”

Also, if more than 3 people live there. 10k sq. ft could be occupied by three families quite nicely. Multi-generational? Might obviate the need for those nursing homes and assisted living places.

Things would get a lot better, faster, if humans remembered their tribal roots; that living with others is the human thing to do. The nuclear family, each in its own little separate box, was a dream come true for business/Wall Street. Each little box needing its own refrigerator, stove, every appliance ever invented.......no more sharing with extended family.

If extended families lived together, it would mean that we could use less cars as well.

Sad thing, it is they themselves who are a-lacking. More chicken-hawk tawk from chickentown. Therefore we say "Phooey!". "Phooey" on the junkfood that passes for news when the real news, in Iran, is deflected, per sharks and Condit, and the dirty deeds pass beneath the radar, which is aiming up Britney's skirt, rather than scanning for dangers.

General Clark is vastly more qualified to be Commander-in-Chief than John McCain, and you can bet that he will continue to serve the military and our country at a very high level of responsibility. But John McCain is no thin-skinned armchair philosopher either, and he is surely able to withstand mere words tossed his way. No need to coddle him.”

“I generally like him, too. Most of the time. Almost all of the time. He's far less hyperventilative and has a mere touch of self-righteousness, at least when compared to a long list of outrageously self-righteous gas bags on the Right -- Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter, Malkin. etc., etc. ... the list goes on.

I kind of enjoy Olbermann's shtick, too. I like it when the Left lightens up and has a little fun. Olbermann IS incredibly intelligent and articulate. He makes a great many points. I totally forgive him for getting on Katie Couric's case (though I don't dislike Couric -- just think she might be a little bit of a lightweight, not in success or influence, but in content and delivery -- she's not Martha Radatz). I think trying to create some kind of media storm against him for going after Couric is as much fueled by a punditocracy that wants to pull back to the safe middle as it is about anything Olbermann did.

Olbermann DOES have to be careful not to let himself become a caricature of hiimself -- he's goofy and over-the-top sometimes, and while I usually like it, that takes skill to keep it from being too much -- but I like it a lot and hope he can keep it up.

Beware the puffed up ego, Mr. Olbermann, and you should be OK.”
