That is how the right wing stayed strong for so many years. That's how W surprised us with an although questionable, win against Gore. I for one was shocked. I like most people I know thought the country was over hating gays, girls who had abortions and people of color. The conservatives came out of nowhere or so we thought. They had stayed united all through the Clinton presidency just waiting for that moment. Us Dems vote and then leave it to the elected official to read our minds and just do what he wants us to while the conservatives treat every year like its an election year. It took me years to figure that out but lately that's all I can think about when I hear people I know who voted for Obama and were involved when he was campaigning but have now abandoned politics to move on to their own stuff. That is just not how things get done.”

“This is so relevant to my brother's life today it isn't even funny. I posted this on the Bachmann story. I spent last night in the emergency room with my Type 1 Diabetic uninsured brother. He is working at a new job and has been out of work for awhile. His new insurance does not kick in until next month and he has been without for about 1 year. He can't find affordable healthcare. He wasn't making $100,000 a year at his old job. He is not poor but he is definitely not rich. He was admitted into the ICU last night and will be there indefinitely. He has basically been financially ruined in a matter of hours.”
