The Brad & Angelina Tell-All Book - How Fake Is It?
Commented Nov 30, 2009 at 16:31:36 in Entertainment
“Could you imagine how it would be to have some snoop talking to everyone who knew and didn't know you from years and years collecting every unfounded rumor and piece of gossip? None of us could survive that. People don't have accurate recall, for one, and love to add opinion as if it is fact. I don't care if they are public figures. This sort of invasion of privacy and hearsay should be an illegal invasion of privacy.”

How Sarah Palin Made Herself Indispensable While Destroying the Republican Party
Commented Nov 15, 2009 at 22:04:34 in Politics
“Excellent commentary. I so hope rationality will prevail. This evil woman cares only about herself. No allegiance to anyone -- family included. It is what is best for her. (Poor little Trig being dragged around like a prop.) Her "fan" base is statistically insignificant, just vocal and clearly following her illustrates that they are ignorant and "clinging to their guns and religion" just like Obama honestly observed and expressed.”
jeanrenoir replied on Nov 16, 2009 at 01:32:38
“I just don't see any factual basis for your faith in the rationality of the American electorate, given the fact that they elected Nixon twice, Reagan twice, and W twice. Tragically, the skepticism of Ben Franklin seems to be bearing fruit at last. He gave us a "republic, if you can keep it." Having come from the uneducated mob, and educated himself out of it, he had a firm grasp of the danger of mass ignorance and stupidity in politics, and thus knew that the very survival of a democracy would be a touch and go proposition. The collaboration of our corrupt, narcissistically selfish elites with the mass of ignorant voters they control with their paid flacks like Limbaugh, Fox, Reagan and Palin has now bankrupted our country and put us on the glide path to geopolitical oblivion, as we finance the growth of the China which will bury us.”

“No sports section is complete without a feature story on the dominance of the Pittsburgh Steelers. That they represent a the working class town that built America and have a young black coach, no fan fare, no cheerleaders ("Cheer leaders have nothing to do with the game of football." Art Rooney) and a young quarterback that is already Hall of Fame material are all great angles, not to mention that they are on their way to a third "One for the Thumb."

Bob Dylan's Secrets of Anti-Aging
Commented Nov 02, 2009 at 14:58:06 in Living
“I think it is more anti-dying than anti-aging. He is resisting dying while continuing to age poorly. I saw him in concert in '97 and he was downright decrepit then, could hardly move into place on the stage without help and seemed confused when his stage people were communicating with him. He did not have the stamina to do much without resting between songs. His voice was as bad as ever, which is part of his greatness, so I can't attribute that to aging. But the man is definitely ancient.”

“I saw the 74 comeback tour and he was amazing. Saw him again in 89 (solo acoustic) and walked out after about 8 or 9 songs (yes, literally. .. I blew off some important things to go and after about 30 minutes they suddenly got important again). I know every album and could NOT tell what songs he was singing until he got to the chorus. I've since read that he was like that sometimes.”

And for the record - the POTUS represents ALL of America... .including those of us who dare to have a different opinion in a free society.
Obviously the answer is you do call and/or acknowledge FOX because they represent a large percentage of the country.
The absolute arrogance in your dismissal of your fellow citizens is as sad as it is pathetic. I would argue that it's akin to political racism.”

AP Asks If Obama Is "Obnoxiously Articulate"
Commented Oct 15, 2009 at 14:25:31 in Media
“Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. It makes me appreciate our current leader so much and makes it obvious why the standard for "articulate" is now set so low. To compare the two is almost unfair. “Hmmmmm. I remember not too long ago when someone referred to him as "articulate" it was perceived as racist as if it was a shock that an African American could speak English. Now he's "too articulate". I hope we see the same outrage, because this is asinine. The man is not just articulate, he is eloquent, gifted. Of course, that somehow translates to "obnoxiously articulate" if you happen to be black.
Thank god we have him -- smart, inclusive, gentle, kind, methodical, respectful, fair, eloquent., confident, composed. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU GOD!

Limbaugh's Racist Rhetoric Coming Home to Roost
Commented Oct 15, 2009 at 13:00:34 in Media
“Were you watching in 2005 when they finished 11-5, went undefeated as a wild card with no home games in the playoffs all the way to Detroit? Or in 2008 when they were 12-4? Super Bowl Champs both years. They are 3-2 right now. What's to worry?
No problem. It is always more fun when the hoards discount them, disrespect them, and pretend they don't dominate the game. What other team, for each and every game -- faces a rival that is in effect playing what is probably the closest they will get to their own "Super Bowl" against the all-time and current champs? No team gets less respect while having more respect for the game, down to: "Cheerleaders have nothing to do with the GAME of football. We focus on football." (Art Rooney)
See ya at the Super Bowl, Publanski. And if they don't make it, the Steelers Nation will remain loyal until next time. (Unlike many other teams' fans - read "Chargers" .)”

“Leaving space alone probably would help prevent accumulation of more space junk, but there's satellites & things already up there that earth people depend on for cable, cell phones, weather tracking, etc. etc.
So at least have to pay attention to earth orbit & moon orbit space junk pollution & space environment effects on them & space traffic control from many current & future countries and companies.
Then, going back to the moon has already turned into a gold rush of sorts by other countries - whether for mineral mining or solar energy or some other kind of development project, so the US just sitting back is unwise too. Best for NASA to take the lead just like we have for all other earth environmental concerns.”

“Michael's article reflects the thoughts of a lot of people. When Pres. Obama won the election he stressed the fact that it would take time to right the wrongs of the past 8-plus Bush years.
I am disappointed to see some of his "supporters" buy into the GOP propaganda, complaining that he should have fixed the mess Bush left behind, after 9 months in office1 These voices belong to the "I hope he fails" chorus.
When he won he asked us to roll up our sleeves because all hands were needed "on deck" to right our sinking ship. We need to be active like the people in your documentary, or like Keith Olberman and the free health clinics.
We need to attack the GOP and Blue Dog Dems. (and corporate lobyists) who are the obstacles blocking his agenda.
We need to stay FIRED UP and keep going. That's what the right-wing machine is trying to destroy with their lies and propaganda. People Power are their biggest fear. Obama has crashed the "Country Club Wealth Orgy" made up mostly of old white European men.
And yes Pres. Barcack Hussein Obama (the grandson of a Kenyan man whose name he carries .. and who also spent time in jail for opposing British colonial tax laws in his country) deserves the Nobel Prize for becoming the first African-American president, in a country that flourished on slavery and Jim Crow. He inspired the world and showed us all the best in humanity.”
