“I love food & love eating it & I refuse to be neurotic over it. So many people these days almost seem apologetic for eating. That's just silly. I want to enjoy my food so I put a lot of thought & preparation into our meals.

I cook at least a meal (or two) every day & I can't seem to stomach fast food or processed food anymore. It just doesn't taste good to me. My philosophy is that I love food & if I'm going to take in the calories, it better be of superior quality or it's just not worth it. I also value my health so I avoid saturated or trans fats & include a lot of fresh vegetables, whole grains & fruit into each day's menu. I do like meat, so I try to watch what kinds of meat I buy & we end up eating a lot of chicken anyway.”

“Greyhounds are the best dogs ever! And this is coming from a cat-person! In fact, in a lot of ways, their habits are very similar to cats. They don't act like most dogs, in my estimation, because they aren't yapping and jumping and slobbering all over you and "in your face." They are bright, inquisitive, quiet, gentle, and loyal to a fault. The one problem they have (if you could call it a problem) is that they're FAST! If they get loose, you could never outrun them. But within the confines of the White House and surrounding yard, that shouldn't be a problem (or even at the Hyde Park home).

I think the Obamas adopting a rescued Greyhound would set a very good example for our nation to adopt discarded dogs, and many other people would then want to adopt one too after seeing how great they are. This could even solve the problem of Greyhounds being destroyed and bring more attention to this practice due to dog racing.

Please, President-elect Obama: if you're reading this, please consider the Greyhound! You won't be sorry. Just ask other Greyhound owners. You'll never find a more enthusiastic and devoted group of people. Greyhounds make the best pets!”

“Jackson Jr.'s one note has always been on promoting the construction of a third regional airport in south suburban Peotone -- something that is absolutely not needed & has never been supported by even one major airline. Yet, Jackson Jr. doggedly pushes this boondoggle saying that it will bring thousands of jobs to the south side. Bull pucky. The data says otherwise.

If Jackson Jr. has such a myopic view of his own district, how is he ever going to represent Illinois' interests in D.C. effectively??”

“I'm a woman & have always liked Hillary a lot, although I did support Obama from the start. But your idea that she was "mercilessly bashed" is a fantasy. Did you expect Obama not to treat her like any other candidate he was running against? Was he supposed to soft-pedal it just because she was a woman.

No, we can't have it both ways. Hillary knew what she was getting into when she decided to run. I think Obama could have gone after her even harder but didn't because he IS a gentleman. As for the press, the Republicans, & the rest of the American public, all I can say is this is how elections take place. Like the saying goes, even though you may think sausage is delicious, if you knew how it was made...”

I'm a knitter -- why not offer some sources for patterns so we can knit our own? These are very simple patterns that most people could easily make for themselves.

Why must we always buy into that consumer mentality that tells us we must large amounts of money for everything?”
