“Anyone care to tell me why it's inappropriate? If she loves the character from the show, why not get to be something she admires for the night? Should she pick someone else just because they happen to be different races? Or should she not have painted her face black, and not looked anything like the character?

For that matter, why is she getting ridicule when the Wayans Brothers didn't get any flack for making an entire movie of pretending to be white?”

“Lady in store goes on rant. Blogger, idealizing himself as the one man who has the power to enact social justice, goes on rant in blog. See the problem here?

I know it wasn't right of that lady to rip into someone for something so petty. She was a miserable woman, and might have ruined a couple of people's days. It wasn't right, under any circumstance.

That being said, I wonder if it ever occurred to you before you decided to make her an example of bad, bad, mean people on the internet that she may have been having a particularly tragic day herself (maybe her son was just killed in a car accident), and she just happened to pick the wrong outlet to vent. Yes, she was in the wrong, but what she likely needed (what all humans always need) is love and kindness, not a harsh browbeating.

While I assume you're rather proud of this article, I believe it would be fairly easy to write just as scathing and humiliating an article about you and the way you treat - indirectly or directly - people you believe are out of line.”

“I agree with the title of this article and was agreeing/entertained w this article, until i read your comment. It's very enlightening and changed my opinion of this article. Your comment made me step back and re-evaluate the whole situation; thanks.

The writer, basically, did to her what she did to the customer service person. She did it in front of a a small group. He did it where, potentially, thousands and/or millions could read it.

Maybe he wrote the article like this to appeal and entertain for attention, because he is a blogger? that wouldnt justify his article at all but it's just a thought..”
