“I find this truly fascinating. The same people that want President Obama to fail at all costs now claim that they are the true reformist.Well John McCain you cannot have it both ways.If you and the obstructionists republicans were miss goodies two shoes about re importation of drugs, how come you did not lift the ban and further why did you support Bush with Medicaid Part D....um how soon we forget.

Why did you and your other 39 Senators did not demand that the reform must contain a public option and lift the ban on re importation of Drugs from Canada ,since all of a sudden you are the defenders of the people. We know your game, you purposely put the president and the democrats in a position to fail by not supporting the legislation. You bear the full blame of all the deals the democrats had to make to get the 60 votes with your blue dog infiltrators and plants.

If only 5 or 10 moderate republicans supported this bill it would have passed with a public option and better drug costs. So do not try to play with our minds now...we have had enough of you,Snowe,Grassley and Bush. You ask Snowe how come she changed her mind, not President Obama. Finally F O for good!!”

“The secret is that the GOP is not just the party of no. It's also the party of but.

They want health care reform, too, but . . .
They want financial reform, too, but . . .

After the "but" comes a rejection of any changes that could possibly be expected to bring about reform and a buzz-word for some plan that would tilt things even further in the direction they're already leaning. For example, they say "tort reform" would reform our health care system when its real effect would be to make the system even less accountable to patients (AKA victims).”

“If I hear Mitch McConnell, after looking at this gift horse to the insurance companies, say this is a huge government take over of health care, one more time,I think I'm going to throw up.

The Senate bill is a bill every republican and blue dog democrat should adore:

No public option - No competition
No medicare buy in at 55
No price controls on premiums
No trigger...or is that Roy Rogers Horse..guess we couldn't get the darn horse
Stricter anti abortion provisions to satisfy Nelson and the pedophile priests
The Catholic Church demanded the stricter abortion controls. How about stricter controls for their pedophile priests? Now the church is authoring and checking legislation. What about the other faiths? How come we didn't get a Jewish Amendment? What about the Buddhists and Muslims.Oh we got the Jewish Amendment-Lieberman
Many provisions don't take effect until the insurance companies triple current unaffordable premiums

What a wonderful republican bill and not one vote!!! Three Guess why
1. Stop the Black Socialist President at all costs
2. They want "Their" Country back, their segregated, racist country back
3. They love their country and are putting it first

By the way they voted for the $636 billion defense spending.Oh I forgot they are the party of WAR and Haliburton...Drill baby Drill.”

“As for the drug deal with big pharma about how drugs from Canada and Mexico are unsafe, what a load of crap. It's the same drugs Canadians are taking every day and how many reports from Canada about thousands of people dying from unsafe drugs.

Americans should continue to go to Canada for their drugs or get their Canadian friends and relatives to mail them the drugs. It's even cheaper to cross the border, buy your drugs and come back home.Talk about America being like Russia.Think about that phony crap excuse to keep the drugs in the US expensive. The entire system is froth with paybacks and corruption.Choice between Aetna and United Health Insurance or Pfizer or Welcome is not choice its blackmail, downright dishonest and collusion.

You asked am I pissed off..darn right I'm pissed off.And to add insult to injury the bloody left stayed at home while the tea baggers were storming Washington with their nonsensical crap. The left got the bill they deserve,if they had gotten up off of their collective a**es and demonstrated en mass, there would have been a public option...a darn strong one too. It's not to late to have that march of discontent before the bills are reconciled in conference.Let's show Nelson,Snowe,Conrad,Lieberman and Pres Obama too! who is boss....US”

As I scanned the posts on this story, yours hit me hard. I am pissed off, too. Many strong points in your words. People write many things here (myself included) but actions outside the HP world are the only thing that are going to get us a health bill that might actually curb the thieves within the insurance and pharma industry.

Drugs from Mexico and Canada have been a lifeline for many Americans. Many have to go in this direction. Calling them unsafe is just more of the same lies to keep us in a state of fear and inertia.”

“If there is no public option then I would just like to go to my doctor and pay him or her directly. There should be no law compelling me to support a fraudulent corrupt money grabbing system. What is the purpose of the middle men "the so called health insurance companies" actually do that is medical?

Ladies and gentlemen we have been had for too long. The moment this garbage becomes law I will challenge the mandate in the supreme court and force Roberts and his gang to rule in the full view of the public. The good thing about this is the supreme court may actually rule that you can only mandate insurance coverage if there is true choice...between private and public plans.

Then BINGO the marketplace must have a government run plan as well to be competitive.By the time my case is heard the court will be more balanced or the Roberts Court may agree with me because they don't like President Obama...either way we win.

Conrad is one of those blue dogs that must be replaced. To heck with it replace them all and as Howard Dean said there will be primaries. These detractors should have to answer to their constituents why they voted against a public and more restrictive women's rights on abortion.”

“This is so terrible that not one solitary republican senator had the guts to support parts of this bill and assist some democrats in making it better like including the public option to counter balance Nelson and Lieberman. Not even a bloody trigger.I do not understand how republicans can sleep at night always screwing the people,no wonder they only got 40 seats. However, they are always quick to support wars and war funding, invading foreign countries like Iraq and spending 1 trillion dollars on that.

For their selfishness,I hope they are reduced to even less and also all of those blue dogs every single one should be turfed out. That clause that gives Nebraska perpetual medicaid should be challenged by the other states. This was an outright case of blackmail and irresponsible behavior by Nelson and Lieberman.Howard Dean is totally correct in his assessment in his oped in the Washington Post, that this is a big giveaway and bail out for the health insurance companies.”

“I have to add this second comment because I am really infuriated at what they are trying to do to the ordinary folk. Can someone tell me why the government is forcing me to believe that this senate bill is good for me when it is absolutely not.

Point: There would be no requirement for subsidies if there is competition with a public option and premium rates are $1000 a year per single person and $2000 a year for a family. The subsidies in the bill are not to improve health,it is to reimburse the same greedy insurance companies so they can maintain their profits and unaffordable rates.Ask these same lawmakers why should tax payers make up the $8000 dollar difference to give the insurance companies what they want. This is not about health care at all.

Point: Since all these Senators say they are fighting for us present them with a bill called Protecting the American People from inhumane, dishonest and sheer gouging activities of the insurance companies by making it illegal to drop or deny coverage, refuse claims, remove annual caps and set maximum rates and record the votes and print their names. Now we are talking.”

“With all due respect to you and your late husband, I totally disagree.Ted Kennedy would not have made these bizarre compromises just to get something passed. While the bill has some meaningful prohibitions to regulate the dishonest and greedy activities of the big insurance companies, these can be enacted separately.

Nothing in this bill drives down cost down or encourages competition by that I mean in the absence of a true public option there is absolutely no control on current unaffordable rates or annual increases in tandem with the consumer price index and rate of inflation. This bill is a total give away and acquiescence to the big insurance companies and the likes of Joe Lieberman,Baucus,Conrad,Nelson,Snowe,Collins,McCaskill,Landreiu, the republicans and the rest of bought and paid for lawmakers, period.

What has the republicans contributed?Nothing except near riots at the town halls and racist demonstrations against our duly elected president. What has Lieberman or the conservative democrats contributed or gave up that was not in their financial or political interest. This bill, except for some punitive measures that should have been enacted long ago, does nothing for the ordinary American citizen.”
