"I Object": Tom Price Tries To Shut Down Democratic Congresswomen (VIDEO)

Commented Nov 08, 2009 at 12:51:37 in Politics

“Unreal. What happened to the respect that used to be the cornerstone of our Congress? You would have thought they were being interviewed on CNN, with the opposition being talked over and treated like dirt. Have you ever noticed that the Dem will politely listen to the Repug, then when the Dem begins to speak, the Repug just shouts over whatever the Dem has to say? And after that the moderator generally goes to commercial.....A truly sorry state of affairs.

Ofcourse we have seldom seen the spectacle we witnessed at the State of the Union either, where Joe Wilson could shout "liar" as the duly elected President Obama was speaking. These people are ignorant and classless. Republicans, you are in the minority now so get over it, poor losers.”

I guess Agassi has many sides.”

“Torture is something done by dictators and despots, not the US. No wonder we are no longer admired in the world. And I love the old "They hate us for our freedoms" line. They hate us because we are arrogant bullies, trying to impose our ideas on other cultures and defining everyone as "good and evil". If you were a small Arabic country, why wouldn't you want a nuclear bomb to ward off threats by people like the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld cabal?

We are wrongly stuck in serial war mode and Obama needs to recognize this and get us out. This whole middle east strategy is ignorant. You cannot fight entire countries because of groups of thugs. Police action with allies involved in eradicating them is the key. The military industrial complex, et. al., is the only winner in this perpetual war era.”

“Exactly!!! Ritter was everywhere and very credible. We went to our congressman with about 50 others to say "let the inspections work first", to no avail. Our 'rep' returned to vote in lockstep with the Bushies. There were many, many people on Ritter's side but soon he was silenced and we were 'terrible Americans' for not supporting this illegal and immoral war. We had no help at all from the MSM, as they saw what ratings they would be getting for reporting war. It is such a terrible shame.”

I am appalled at the inhumanity of these zealots that claim to be Christians. They love to blow people up in other nations, electively, but don't want to care for their own citizens? It is sick and disgusting. If the Baucus plan goes through, it will be a bigger rip off to the middle class than the Bush Medicare Drug Plan, and that was beyond awful!!

And the corporate greed continues.”

“Whether the line call was incorrect or not, that is part of the game and I don't care what color her skin is. She should not have behaved that way. Some sort of apology was in order for her conduct. McEnroe saying, "You cannot be serious" is a far cry from what Serena was saying and gesturing toward that line judge. I am sure the tournament staff would much rather have had the match end in a regular manner but those are the rules and she broke them.”

Unfortunately the video has an obvious gap so you can't see if he cursed or not. But he told the "He guys are the pits of the world, you know that?" and he was penalized a point. So it's not like McEnroe was left unchecked in his tantrums.”

“I play tennis and am an avid fan. I can understand tempers in the heat of the moment. What I could not understand was the press conference after when there was no apology or any embarrassment on Serena's part. It was as if this was a responsible way to act. That is what was incomprehensible to me and she had the gaul to say that she probably did foot fault!! Unreal!”

OdysseusNemesis replied on Sep 14, 2009 at 07:16:37

“Look at your politicians, how many of them ever admit being wrong. But even if she thinks she is wrong, her lawyers and handlers would have advised her against admitting it -- for legal reasons.”

Dnietz replied on Sep 14, 2009 at 02:29:36

“That is because she did nothing wrong.

The video clearly showed there was no foot fault. Not only is that a ridiculous call, it is unbelievable to call it in what is potentially the final game of the match.

Serena had problems with that line judge several times in the game. It looks to me like the line judge simply has issues. The line judge clearly lied when quoting Serena to the tournament judge.

So, explain this: why does the 17 year old white girl that wins and early round match get the cover of every newspaper and the leading headline from every TV news show? And Serena and her sister who have repeatedly won championship after championship never been called or treated like the "darlings" of American tennis.

The answer is simple. To be the darling of American tennis, you have to have white skin”

Congrats to Kim. She played a phenomenal tournament with grace and style.”

“As my old dad used to say, " Look at what these pro-sports people get paid for playing a damn kids game. They don't produce anything yet make these astronomical figures." Guess that big money also gives them the right to act like spoiled brats.

What got me was that Serena never apologized or took responsibility for what she did when she was at her press conference. She said the line judge was just doing her job. Then why did she react that way? If I saw her coming my way that aggressively, I would have been scared and intimidated too. Serena's action was completely uncalled for and very immature for a player of her ranking.”

And, naturally, we are all paying in one way or another. I would rather put my $500 a month in the pot to take care of those in need than line the pockets of the insurance company bigwigs and know that me and my family will be cared for also. We could cut medical costs big time with a government program. The Medicare program only spends 3% on administering it, far less than by other means.”

Mr. Haliburton Cheney then could REALLY rape the taxpayers, to the tune of upwards of 10 BILLION A MONTH. No conflict of interests there, huh??

At least Obama is trying to take care of the people that live in this country, often under deplorable conditions.”
