There might not be another Republican Governor elected but since both of the Dem's candidates were either in ethics violations trouble or was not a good candidate, the Republicans won easily. They should not gloat about this because the Dems picked up wins to maintain their majority....how about district 23 in New York.....First time that district was won by a Democrat since the Civil War......nuff said”

“Hey there Alec,
I've been partially withdrawn of late. My sister died July 6th, 57 years old. Lung cancer. It's been strange.
I have a brother in Conneticut. He wouldn't vote for you. He once told me to move to Canada because I disagreed with Rumsfeld on a border security issue. I removed myself from political discussion with him. Good thing about my brother? He won't vote for lieberman either.
I'm quite sure if you choose to run for any office it will be in NY. You will do well.
Disregard people's stupid prejudices. Is that redundant? Are not prejudices inherently stupid or at the very least ignorant?
Love and Best wishes to you always!
Ps. Back in NJ and very happy about it. :)”

Yoga For Rachel Maddow

“Dear Rachel,
I was introduced to Rodney Yee's Power Yoga because I needed to spend another $10.00 to qualify for free shipping on a vitamin web site. The Vhs tape was on sale. That was that.
I have since owned 3 beginners kits (comes with an AM yoga DVD, a mat, a strap, and a block) I have to buy new ones because I give my old one away it seems regularly.
I bought my Mom one (she's in Western MA). She's 75. She can do it. She enjoys it in the quiet hours of the morning.
Rodney Yees Power Yoga Flexibility DVD is a bit more demanding. It's my favorite. The morning Yoga is great for slow starting mornings when your get up and go hasn't quite gotten there yet.
I love my Yoga. Try it and you will too.”

The pharmaceuticals do start working on us quite early don't they? I'm always amazed at the slender youthfulness of the diabetics in insulin commercials.
Wait til you get 51 honey. Then you might get to experience some real fun, dysfunctional menopause, menaghoria, acute anemia, overall exhaustion. It's real fun. The treatment will add 30lbs in a year and an additional 3% body fat over time -- don't forget the bone loss. But their just prepping you for Sally Field's commercial with that little side effect. ;)
Watch your intake on food additives that mimic estrogen in the body. The general population is in full estrogen overdose. Soy is the new msg. It's supposed to good for you -- but now it's in everything.
For the arthritis and lack of mobility upcoming -- I suggest Yoga. It's 20 minutes. It's a DVD at home.
Good luck.
I'm sure there's a 71 year old out there this very minute shaking her head at my complaints about 51. How's that for solace?”

It was surely the best time of my life. The kids are doctors now, and when we go to visit I do all the cooking, do their laundry because they are too damned busy, and take care of the grandchild as well. I can run circles around all of my younger friends and can walk any place I want to go. What's the secret? Moderation. No weight, smoking or drinking problems. Take only the prescription drugs that are absolutely necessary -- and come to Huff to let off steam.”

“Hi Alec,
I understand well the loss of your father. My father died May 15, 1982, he was 48. It too was cancer.
He had been diagnosed 8 years prior. He fought those eight years courageously. He kept his chin up and never forgot how to laugh. He became an Ordained Baptist Minister 3 years before he died. His congregation was impressive. I was so very proud of him.
And here I am tonight, once more facing cancer and death. My sister is on a respirator -- lung cancer, years of cigarettes...If she cannot be weened from the respirator in a week there will be discussions. If she can be weened from the respirator it is a matter of hospice and a month maybe two. She is 57. She will be the first of the seven of us to die.
I wonder, who do I cry for? Our mortality? The passing of our era? I haven't spoken to her in fourteen years. I wouldn't change that you know. I once told my mother, "yes, she my sister. I still love her. But she loves drama, and she loves to meddle and create drama. Let her be my sister far away." But, now she is going. I think I would like to say goodbye, but I'm not sure.
My father is at peace. God Bless Him. God Bless Yours as Well. And, God Bless my sister as she joins them.”

“Just because a condition was not adequately diagnosed and treated in the past does not mean it is new (Autism) or made-up (ADD.)
In fact, it should be pointed out that the increase in diagnoses for Autism is viewed by scientists as rising from a broadening of the definition (this is implied by the term Autism Spectrum Disorders, if you think about,) and by improvements in our ability to recognize.
Of course, what trickles down to the mainstream media, and hence to the masses, is usually a sort of "quasi-science" that is composed of equal parts uneducated speculation, pseudoscience masquerading to those who don't know the difference, and actual scientific data, usually taken out of context.
Getting the whole story can be challenging and tedious, which is why a rumor can run halfway 'round the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes.”

Reality check time Alec.

It drives sweet and gets about 21-22 mpg. It wasn't my Hybrid. Hubby dear said I can use the 2003 Mitsubishi Galant for my Hybrid trade in when it is ready to go. It took me five years to talk that man into a computer.
So...as long as you don't have a man you don't have to nag to death, what's up? ;)
Health and Happiness to you and your family. Hope your Mom is doing well.
Love You Always. :)
Happy New Year!”

“Your problem is that you have to ask your hubby for anything and he has to approve it... that is a sad state of a marriage. I do not ask a man for anything, we equally agree on purchases, plans, etc. 21-22 mpg is pathetic. Great deal or not, you put getting a good deal ahead of the environment. So what if your car drives sweet if its on a ruined planet with starving people?? Oh wait your a@@ is riding comfortable on your trip to the mall on hubby's allowance, how silly of me to suggest growing a pair of t*ts and making your own choices.”

“I have a few goals and wishes for the New Year. I'm looking forward to the end of the bush dark age. Sunshine is good.
I hope your New Years wishes come true for you.
However, as far as that car thought is concerned....
Ooops. I'm kind of guilty myself Alec. I've been telling my husband that I want a Hybrid for years. What was my new car? A 2007 Kia Amanti. We got a great deal because it had 999 miles on it. It drives sweet and gets about 21-22 mpg. It wasn't my Hybrid. Hubby dear said I can use the 2003 Mitsubishi Galant for my Hybrid trade in when it is ready to go.
