“What has tremendously hurt public education is children of parents who see public education as nothing by a free 7 hour babysitter. Many of these same parents openly reject education and sounding/talking in any way shape or form like mainstream America. Parents who intentionally strive to be dumb as a stump, and hang with the homies make teacher's jobs all but impossible and pretty much just an exercise in daily survival for them!

The education system was NEVER meant to be a war zone, where teachers have to fear their students and fight with them everyday to do even the most menial of tasks. Teachers are not babysitters and most certainly not correctional guards, which is where many of our schools are now!

“I REALLY wish my sister and her husband well, but gotta admit there is a LITTLE mean part of me that is thinking that "kharma" finally caught up with him!

My very elderly mother, had a pretty severe heart attack, a short while before the Presidential elections. All of my extended family traveled to her town and stayed in her home, for a few days, shile she was in the hospital.

On the FIRST morning that we were all there, this brother-in-law told us all over breakfast... "the PROBLEM with this country is the GAYS and MEXICANS, and we REALLY don't need a BLACK man in our White House!"

I REALLY tried to keep quiet for at least 3 seconds and then couldn't do it and reminded him that my wife is 1/2 Italinan and 1/2 Mexican and as such she is as much Mexican as Obama is Black. I assured him that we would never again make him uncomfortable by bringing a Mexican into his house and certainly would now never think of causing him despait by inviting him to ours.

I asked him when any gay or Mexican person had EVER hurt him, my sister or their family? He responded "WELL I can sure see where YOU stand with the Lord"!

I think he just got his WORLD rocked!!!!”

“My sister had her tyroid removed last year and though completely localized, she is now considered a "cancer survivor" Her husband recently lost his job of 20+ years and not too long there after had a massive heart attack due not to being overweight or out of shape, but a major heart valve misfunction. They had no insurance in effect, because their COBA had run out... because they couldn't afford the premiums!

He survived and will probably do ok, BUT he was in the coranary care unit for 4 days and a regular hospital room for 3 more after that. He was life flighted for almost 100 miles to a larger hospital to save his life. He will not be able to work for a while. His hospital bills will be HUGE. Again, they lost their insurance through no fault of their own. Both were in terrific shape! BOTH are now considered HIGH RISK with PRE-EXISTING conditions! His 9... NINE medications will cost HUNDREDS of dollars a month!

Both are pretty conservative Republicans, who WERE against any kind of health care reform, especialy the brother in law, who didn't want to have to pay for ANYONE elses medical bills or insurance.

Guess who is now PRAYING for health care reform, because no insurance company would now touch them???? Everything we are so secure in thinking we have, can be taken away and change in an instant!”

My wife is Mexican/Italian and as such I guess is as much Mexican as Obama is Black, which is something I reminded my brother in law about at a family gathering before the election, when he said "the problem with this country is the Mexicans and Gays, and we definitely don't need a black man in the White House"!

I told him in front of everybody, since he brougt it up, that we most definitely won't be making him uncomfortable anymore by bringing a Mexican into his home and certainly don't want him coming to ours where he would also be uncomfortable! LOL”
