“I'm sorry, but I have no sympathy for the man. Everybody knows what fame in America entails. They all know what's involved when they aspire to and attain fame. If they don't like what fame brings, then they shouldn't work so hard to become famous. If they want fame and want to remain pristine in the eyes of the public, then they better behave that way. He has no one but himself to blame. They can't embrace the media when it suits their purpose and then shun the media when it is inconvenient or embarrassing for them. I know this and I am not even famous. He should know it, too.”

“OK, someone help me here. Sarah says that if you promise health care to everyone than it stands to reason that rationing will be necessary because there are not enough doctors. Therefore you will need "death-pan els." OK, so that means that we shouldn't promise healthcare to everyone, right? So that means that there are a lot of people out there who will not have healthcare at all because we told them they couldn't have it because if they had it they would flood the system. So, isn't that the very definition of rationing?”
Yamster replied on Dec 24, 2009 at 12:39:24

Tarmac Delays Limited: Government Imposes 3-Hour Limit
Commented Dec 22, 2009 at 20:35:04 in Business
“It's so stupid that the Transportation Department had to create a rule for this. You would think that the industry would just do it out of common sense without being told by the government that they had to. I can tell you all what will happen now. There will be a flight which at the 3 hour mark is 10-15 minutes from departing and it will be forced to either return to the gate or face a heavy fine causing more of a delay. Then the whole thing will end up in court for years trying to hash it out. I hope that the rule has some flexibility built in to the time limit to avoid this scenario, but I doubt it.”

“I tried to like the new Leno show. I wanted to like it. I watched it several times but have just not gotten into it. I think the show can still be improved and I think they should give a shot at improving it. I'm not ready to give up on it yet. I think it's a good idea. He needs some new writers/material. The "earn your plug" thing is just plain stupid. The whole idea just needs some work. I think he deserves a chance. I've never really cared for his joke telling delivery, but that's just me. I recognize his talent and I think the show could work with some tweaking.”
JimR replied on Dec 23, 2009 at 10:10:45
“Yeah, I really like Jay Leno and I want him to succeed. The show definitely needs work, but I'm not sure they'll be able to save it. I feel kind of bad for him because he was pretty much forced off the Tonight Show after years of delivering top ratings in that time slot. Now Letterman is regularly beating the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.”

“Men are just as liable as women are in these instances.
JAG don't have to be involved. The threat of court martial is one thing but typically a unit will just NJP (Non Judicial Punishment) someone for something like this. Punishment from which varies anywhere from loss of rank and pay, to restriction, to being non-rec'd (non recommendation. basically kills promotion ability)
All of which can be rendered by the Company or Unit Commanding Officer without ever needing to go to court martial.”

JBS replied on Dec 21, 2009 at 01:26:41
“Actually sex is exactly the point. General Order - ALL soldiers will abstain while deployed.
That's why both soldiers can be punished. And don't doubt the males WILL be punished. The females can shorten the time until they're caught by ratting them out, but the Army can go after them later if they have to wait until the baby is born to obtain a DNA sample to determine paternity.
The Army's been taking DNA samples for identification purposes for more than 20 years now.”

“What you say is true, but I disagree that the two are not comparable. The question asked was simply "Does the government have the right to require you to purchase something?" That's all. My point is that IF you live in America and IF you own a car you are required to purchase insurance for that car by the government. I think it is a valid comparison. It is a very valid comparison. Do I agree with it? No. I am on your side. But it is not unprecedented. Additionally, if auto insurance is regulated cannot health insurance be equally regulated?”
