Life in prison would protect all of us from killers, and not turn us into more killers like the ones being punished. Who's to say this man wasn't mad as a hatter? An iraq war vet, reduced by divorce and unemployment, two failed business ventures, no doubt a troubled mind, and easy access to guns. No one is excusing his actions, but we have to kill the guy? We have to go to his level to feel good about it, to have "closure"? Barbaric, as I said.

And let's face it, the fear generated by this man's actions were fueled by the media obsession, 24 hour coverage, post 9/11 paranoia, and fact that he was a Muslim convert. The fact still remains that the governor himself, in denying a stay of execution admitted he could not grasp the actions of this man. No one could. He was crazy, and in a civilized society madmen are not murdered by the state. But we don't have civilized society, do we?”

“I think that if a woman wants to be sterilized great, but I think that targeting addicts and agreeing to give them money to be sterilized is terrible.. I know that I was born to a mother that was drinking and using drugs and I am an educated college student and nurse, thank God I was not aborted or my young mother wasn't manipulated into sterilization. I think a better solution is to seek out addicts and offer then education and drug rehabilita­tion.Addic­ts can get clean and live a long productive healthy life and become good parents, I am living proof of that. Offering these women money, is wrong. They are addicted to drugs and will use this money on such, and later in life when some have gotten sober, they will regret there decision, made under the influence of a drug they were addicted to. I made an educated decision in my twenties to be sterilized and now in my thirties i regret this decision, and I was sober. How do you think these women may feel down the road. There are many ways to help prevent women having drug addicted babies, maybe this program, should do more research and find some other effective methods of prevention rather than sterilizing these women whom cannot in there addicted state, make an informed educated decision on sterilization. This is a permanent lifelong choice being made by young addicted women, by offering them money and by pure manipulation.”

“Drug addicted babies are at a significant disadvantage, and that is undeniable. I work with criminals and drug abusing parents are a common factor. I was just talking to a man who was born addicted. He regularly beats his girlfriend and has no problem with it. He's going to jail, not college. I think that is the more common outcome.”
