“Thanks for the post, well said! It's time to take the gloves off, and fight back against the sheeple who've been terrified by the rants of the hatemongers...Mr. Obama needs to know we are behind him, and against this kind of terrorism...terror means fear right? Terrorism means using people's fears to control their actions or affect decisions they make, right? Call 'em as you see 'em!!”

General Ricardo Sanchez Calls for War Crimes Truth Commission - VIDEO UPDATE

Commented Jun 01, 2009 at 09:22:48 in Politics

“We already have "Truth Commissions", we call them courts. Or since GWB and company thought being Commander in Chief of the military was the preeminent position as President, we could use Tribunals for them, or general court-martials would work too. Since all military personnel in America swear to uphold and defend the constitution, not allegiance to the current leadership, they have failed in their duties and sullied our country and their offices with their illegal, reprehensible actions.
NO BLANKET AMNESTY FOR CRIMINALS!”

mouselion replied on Jun 01, 2009 at 13:24:32

“This is a politically delicate situation.
If it was just a matter of taking them to court, it would already be done.
There are powerful forces in our government who do not want any of this to be prosecuted.
The only way is to start out softly and let the outrage build.”

At last! A sane comment.”

“I agree.
When Congress went over the heads of Lawrence Walsh, Special Prosecutor in Iran-Contra, they gave immunity to witnesses (Oliver North, for one) for testifying before the Joint House/Senate committee. (North lied, but nevr mind that). This destroyed Walsh's ability to get evidence that would convict others like the Attorney General, CIA Station Chiefs, Gates and North himself, not to mention VP Bush and Reagan."
Of course, the Attorney General under Bush and Chenney, is no longer in office.
It is up to the courts to get to the bottom of this. If our US Justice system is that, then major players will be convicted and others will follow, that is, unless Obama and Congress do not "obstruct" justice!”

Oklahoma Legislature Investigates Richard Dawkins' Free Speech

“Way to go, OK Legislature!! This is just too funny. Reminds me of Bill Hicks. Got your own home-grown cultural Lysenkoism going there people. Thanks for giving us all something to chuckle about, and for proving once again how wasteful of the people's time and resources these morons can be. If I was an Okie, I'd be leading a recall ballot petition. Who cares whether it's about the God Delusion or not? I doubt any of them read the book....Dawkins states his points pretty stridently in it. Possibly one of these "representatives" feels that they could debate the author on his work? Naw, let's just harass and abuse him if he thinks he can talk like that round these parts....cognitive dissonance leading to irrational aggression, who would have guessed it?”

“Bravo, Rob!
I agree, it's going to be interesting to see where Mamet winds up over the next four(possibly eight) years.
The semantics of the conservative(as in conserve mine, I'm all right jack) movement over the last couple of decades has always seemed, to me, like a perverse fulfillment of Orwell's doublespeak prophesy...

Competition? The only competition possible in today's mega-corporatized business world is among the newest technology producers or in areas with very little profitability. I do believe that competition could help us see improvements, but it just isn't possible until we put some teeth back in the antitrust laws.

Great Post!”

The Voice Of American Pragmatism

“Thank you, Dr. Feldman. it is indeed refreshing to see our elected representatives looking to represent us again, not more "well I have a mandate from my electorate so I'm the decider" crap. Pragmatism is just common sense, and doing the will of the people is the job description, not just one of the options available to our president and members of Congress. Enough ideology. Do your jobs, representatives...or get out of the way and let someone who understands the job description do it.
Fellow citizens of our Republic- demand accountability from your elected reps. Bother them. Call them out. Throw them out if they won't listen to the will of the people.
We should demand a ban on all lobbying of our reps- if groups want to lobby, let them lobby the people, not try to sidestep the fact that our government is accountable to US, the electorate, and not to any special interests.”

“Bravo Mr. Taylor, I couldn't agree more. We need to revisit the Pecora commission, and right quick! The extraconstitutional nature and actual USURY of the federal reserve needs to be abolished too, for the sake of the American people. Let these badly mismanaged banks fail. The shareholders should have known there was risk, and demanded transparent accounting from the firms they invested in. Why should we, the taxpayers who stand to make no profit, take any risk at all for these bungling criminals?? They have clearly shown that they intend to take no risks to help us out, witness the fact that credit is still frozen after they've already bled us for so much. Not a nickel more without the taxpayers getting a decent return on our investment in cleaning up their mess!
How is it even possible that these people can commit this kind of economic violence on the majority of the people in the world, without us howling for their heads? Aren't we all supposed to be equal under the law? Prosecute these criminals!”

“Hear, hear!
I remember reading Mr. Gorbachev's book at the time, I thought it was a real eye-opener. All this noise about Reagan "defeating" the Soviet Union and trying to take credit for the wall coming down is just bizarre. He did nothing of the kind.

Mr. Gorbachev, thanks for raising your voice about the lunacy of this administration's policies, and the real danger of a McCain presidency.”
Nuclear Power Could Fuel Chicago's Economy

Nuclear Power Could Fuel Chicago's Economy

Commented Aug 14, 2008 at 22:50:45 in Chicago

“Why, why does this keep coming up? Nuclear power is ultimately a negative in terms of making money, as the costs of handling, storing and keeping safe the radioactive waste left over for 40,000 years will inevitably outstrip the value of the electrical power they produce over the lifetime of the reactor. It's a utility bill for this year that you get to pay over and over practically forever.
I'm pleased every time I get to see the wind power fields expanding to the west along 88 and south of 80/94 just north of Peoria. I think they are a beautiful site to see, and welcome lots more of them!
Please, let's stop looking for cheaper ways to deal with the problem. It's time to build the new renewable energy infrastructure, yes right here in Illinois, from soy biodiesel to wind and solar power, All of it-except nuclear power. We need to do away with this lethal and very costly industry. We can't afford to pollute the planet this way any more, and we all know it.
No more nuclear plants. Start living like we have to leave this place better than we found it!!”

luxellion replied on Aug 15, 2008 at 15:30:39

“The pollution from nuclear power pales in comparison to that from oil, coal, and even the manufacture of solar panels. to term it 'lethal' doesn't make much sense either. Also consider that current wind turbine designs are subject to ULF emissions that have been linked to many health problems in nearby residents. Biodiesel from soy will likely inflate food prices just as ethanol did for corn.

You see, no single solution exists, and none of us are going to get anywhere by trying to paint a solution with a brush the size of our egos.”

So now we'll have a "Woman who Sold the World" to sing about.
If these two, Pelosi and Reid, don't get off their asses and DO THEIR JOBS, I personally will be very involved in making sure they never get elected to anything again, even though they aren't my reps. I will support their opponents in the next elections just to get rid of them.

WAKE UP! TIME TO MAKE THE DAMN DONUTS!! TIME TO THROW THE RASCALS OUT!!

Impeach? Hell, that's a given! I'm waiting to see them remanded over for trial AFTER impeachment!!!

“"Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law."
So, we can Impeach to remove them both and then Indict them for their crimes, and imprison them as they so richly deserve.
It's not an option, if Congress wants to do it's duty, but instead simply another of it's duties in the face of the long list of crimes enumerated by Mr. Kuchinich in the articles of Impeachment. I don't see that they have a choice, given their oath to protect the Constitution themselves. is it OK for a cop not to arrest someone who has obviously broken the law? No. The law is the standard, not the opinion of the person whose job it is to implement it.
Grow a spine, Congress. The American people remember the Repubs impeaching for a lie about a BLOW JOB....Get off your backsides and IMPEACH for lying about starting a WAR and STEALING a presidential election!! For Christ's sake, if there ever was an cause for impeachment and prosecution it's this one.
GET ON WITH IT PELOSI. GET ON WITH IT REID. It makes no difference if the repubs block it, we know they will, but you are obstucting justice yourselves through your inaction.

“It is critically important that the Democrats in Congress understand that they must do this for the American People, and not for themselves. In the end, it has very little to do with Congress, other than the fact that their powers have been dminished, with their acquiescence.”

timm0 replied on Jun 12, 2008 at 09:35:45

“Amen to that.

My only requirement is that there is just as much action in trying to solve the other current problems while this effort moves in earnest. The republisquids will try a marketing campaign to convince the public that Dems are just looking for revenge. There needs to be ample proof to refute and further improve our chances in strengthening majorities in House and Senate.”
