L.A. Synagogue Shooting Investigated As Hate Crime, Man Detained
Commented Oct 29, 2009 at 18:15:11 in Politics
“Dear Media:
S L O W D O W N.
I know it's hard for you. Please just take a breath and wait before you start screaming "FIRE!" or "HATE CRIME!" in this case.
Will every shooting victim of Jewish persuasion be a "hate crime"? Guilty until proven innocent is a bad way to mete out justice, but a great way to get RATINGS!
Can you just call it a shooting for now and let the investigators determine if it is a "hate crime" or not once the investigation is completed?”

“Totally! Agree with you. When it is the "Jewish persuasion
its always a "hate Crime" (My comment is still being vetted' for suitablity) wonder if common sense quistions, asking why- when it's two jewish people' it's hate, and any other persuasion, they wait until the criminal is aprehended.
In this case, they dont even know who it is~~”

“It was a shooting at a synagogue. The two victims appear to have been randomly selected. It's appropriate to treat it initially as a hate crime. It wasn't just a "shooting of a person of Jewish persuasion".”
davesf replied on Oct 29, 2009 at 18:49:00
“Well, it was two Jewish guys, targeted at Temple, in a parking garage on an otherwise quiet street. Sure we don't KNOW it's a hate crime, maybe some kid didn't want to go to Torah lessons and thought this would get him out of it, but surely a little speculation is expected.”
deeppeace replied on Oct 29, 2009 at 18:35:48
“My guess is that a hate crime investigation starts out differently than a drug bust investigation. If the evidence turns in the direction of hate crime, it's harder to go back and re-trace the investigative steps.
Waiting until the investigation is over is a good idea, but a hate-crime investigation may have different elements.”

1) No Sidewalks (you have to walk in the street)

3) no parking
4) most overpriced rental rates ever (parents better be loaded if you want to even consider your own room)
5) trash in the street (and everywhere else for that matter)
6) High theft and DUI rate
7) asshat cops everywhere in order to deal with #6
8) there is tar on the beach so that you have to seriously scrub down your feet if you go barefoot on the beach

“You succinctly stated what I stated.
If people listen to what the president is saying they would know there is no quick fix. This is going to hurt, but saving life through sustaining life is saving the Republic, because the Republic consists of individual life. We have to get over this hump. I would love to see a transformative Obama with a manageable plate as opposed to the overflowing plate he has now (Iraq, healthcare, the economy, entitlements, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the world economy, age-old conflicts in the Middle East still simmering, political corruption, corporate corruption, joblessness, homelessness, educational strife and woe, the environment, immigration, enemies within and abroad, etc...). If he had a clear path, where might he lead then? How far might we progress then as a nation, if he did not have to navigate the minefield of what has already been done, what has already come to pass, the harvest of what others have sown? Downturn is a bad thing but keep in mind that a slingshot pulls back before it propels forward. Keep in mind that the view we had at the top of the rollercoaster hill was breathtaking prosperity due to bubbles. Now the bubbles have burst. Grab that bar tight as the Gs play on our economic body, almost pulling us from our financial seats to thrust us into midair with no net and no parachute. Hang on tight, and we will get through this rollercoaster ride. Eyes may widen in the interim.”
