Bonwell Parker replied on Sep 22, 2009 at 19:20:44

“Medicine is far more expensive and requires far more resources than "academic" majors (this coming from a very proud Linguistics major, so I'm not knocking academics). In addition, whereas you can muddle through a lit class or even math or communication, if you have a bad neuroscience professor and make it through to get an MD, you could go on to kill or permanently damage people. So every professor has to meet a very high bar.

The problem is, money isn't the right deterrent. We just end up with intelligent people who can't afford to go to medical school, while the super rich can get their medical license after two or three tries because they want that sweet doctor's salary. Schools need to do more to subsidize students who show real promise, and in the short term, we need to make it easier for foreign doctors to come to the United States and meet the demand that will take us a decade to train up for.”

The Jokes Turn Back on Joe Buck Live

“Anybody that listens to Stern knows that 'Artie's gonna do what Artie's gonna do." Joe Buck should have listened to Stern to understand Artie's attitude towards sports and life in general. HIs comments were not "inappropriate" as is stated here. His comments were in keeping with Artie Lange.”

“DrFrescas, I don't doubt that this is what Artie Lange does in general and no worse than what he says everywhere else. What i thought was inappropriate about it was less his content and his message and more his decision to sidetrack the conversation from the topic of sports and celebrity. But, yes, he should be expected to behave as he did. Which is why it's so peculiar that HBO recruited him to participate at all.”

“Your argument has some validity because Alaska's total population is 683,478, but there are too many pictures out there of Giuliani in drag which will not play very well outside of NY. Then what about Mitt Romney you may ask. Well he believes that Native Americans are Israelites, Eden is in Missouri, and he wears magic underwear, so that counts him out. And, Mike Huckabee has a questionable relationship with animals. One of his favorite dishes includes horse meat, he didn’t follow hunting protocol by shooting over the heads of reporters while duck hunting, and he admitted to cooking squirrels in a pop-corn popper. Americans have suffered greatly because of the simplistic, ideological decision-making of the Bush administration. Foreign policy decisions require people who think and understand the ramifications of each and every action. The situation in Iraq and with Russia were predictable. A nursing mother of a 5 month old baby should take that responsibility seriously - not to mention her other 4 children.
She has shown her poor judgement matches McCains'. Please - no mention of bogus glass ceilings or women's rights - when you don't use birth control, when you have a baby, then your human duty is to give that child a decent start in life - that is not possible on the grueling campain trail.
