Feingold: Obama Responsible For Loss Of Public Option

Commented Dec 22, 2009 at 12:34:24 in Politics

“Blah, blah, blah blah. "Progressives" like Feingold and Sanders talk a good story and then vote for right-wing garbage like more debt-fueled private contractor wars and mandated for-profit corporate insurance. They're frauds. Words don't count. Votes do. There is no one left in the Senate worth our time, contributions and trouble.”

Rahm Emanuel: Don't Worry About the Left

Commented Dec 19, 2009 at 12:01:48 in Politics

“It's true. In '10 and '12, Rahm won't have to worry about managing tens of thousands of volunteer foot soldiers. He won't have to worry about keeping track of millions in donations. Becuase they won't be there. They will be working for third parties.”

stargazer13 replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 12:11:18

“I think both Parties need to go broke !!

and you are right we need a brand new party !! to be headed by real Americans for America !!

and to be guarded from infiltration by the Demarcate,s and the Republicans !! because I am an American first and for most and will not be pitted against my fellow country men and women !!

over B.S. any more !!”

blueskybigstar replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 12:10:11

“fanned. Without a doubt this will happen. It has happened several times before in our history that third parties have become very relevant. I think that we should have a party whose main point is to establish a multiparty system where there would have to be a run off for the top two candidates to establish over 50% of the vote.”

Commented Dec 18, 2009 at 10:56:14 in Politics

“This war bill is "deficit neutral," just like the health care bill, right? Oh, I forgot -- we can borrow money to kill people in other countries, but we can't to save lives here. Amazing what our 60 vote majority accomplish as long as it involves shoveling cash into KBR's maw.”

“The president's consistant, persistant failures of leaderhip on health care reform make it clear he never wanted real change in the first place. This bill is simply another corporate bailout. Time for Dean and others of equal stature to start exploring a primary challenge in '12.”

“When people say stuff like "primary a sitting president on our side" I know they have absolutely no political acumen whatsoever, and no sense of the electorate. I would love for Obama to be more progressive, but wasting time and money on a primary that Dean is certain to lose does nothing but feed gory MSM headlines.”

“Bingo. And don't forget to vote Green, especially in states where they've gained the right to appear on the primary ballot.”

goldgoose replied on Dec 16, 2009 at 11:31:52

“Presently, Green is too definitive to be effective; it brings back memories of 2000, when Nader and Gore both refused to negotiate and America ended up with a minority and sadistic fascist President Bush. Green, in and of itself, is too narrow of an issue. In union there is strength, to borrow a labor quote, but you must have a large enough base to be effective.
In 2000, Nader became an environmental tyrant of no real significance in a democracy but negative enough to cost Gore the narrow election.
The purpose in politics should not be to be a spoiler but to become a positive power. Political power is the same as power in Physics, it moves things. Unfortunateley, America's 2 party system waters down both parties to establish a majority and then Blue Dog Democrats betraay their own party.
Actually Green should be an issue for everyone and every party excent but flat-earthers. Green is certainly a Progressive cause however; just not effective when going it alone.

“"These same banks who benefited from taxpayer assistance ... are fighting tooth and nail with their lobbyists up on Capitol Hill, fighting against financial regulatory control."

The time to extract concessions was BEFORE the bailout, not after. The president mouths reassuring pap for we the bankster's victims, but it's too late this time for real reform. Our only hope now is that when the next crash comes -- soon -- the people will give the banksters and their Washington puppets what's coming to them.”

Our TARP tax dollars at work -- used against us for the interests of the bailed-out billionaire banksters. We're supposed to trust the Senate to improve this sham of a bill? Sure, look at the great job they've done on health care "reform."”

“Who's buying this nonsense? We bailed out the banks first, with empty promises of outlawing their harebrained practices later. Rep. Frank and Sen. Dodd's cave-ins to Wall Street show exactly where this is going. With billions in new revenue (thanks to a mandate that everyone purchase their crappy products), the for-profit extortionists will buy what few legislators they don't already own. The fix is in, and nothing is going to be fixed for us. Time to primary all these fake Democrats and their phony "reforms."”

“The president's apologists on the left keep talking up the start date for withdrawal. But no one's saying when the last soldier will come home. Note we still haven't left Germany, Japan or Korea, even though closing those bases would help pay for the current wars. Apparently Obama wants to perpetuate the Pentagon's traditional role as Pinkerton goon squad for transnational corporate interests. No change to see here, folks, just move along.”

JuergenHartl replied on Dec 02, 2009 at 10:31:18

“How would closing bases in Japan, Korea and Germany pay for anything? Those countries contribute greatly to keeping those bases open. What would be saved if we would close Ramstein or Okinawa?”

afram1 replied on Dec 02, 2009 at 10:04:39

“You cannot possibly expect President Obama to close every military base around the world and just pull away...to indict him and demerit him for that...I find that ridiculous.

It's more than a call of "courage" to even attempt to do such a thing...decades of involvement and literally TRILLIONS of dollars have been sunk in such efforts. You can't possibly expect him to pull up tents and bring everybody home.

That was never in his platform...so why set up a strawman that he should have done this then slam him for not doing it? It boggles the mind!”

espressobeans replied on Dec 02, 2009 at 09:50:35
