Unlike Fox News that has made mistakes in the past and only very rarely has corrected themselves BUT at Midnight on a different show. Hmm . . . .”

“As to my previous post - case in point - his total mishandling of health care reform. The lowest-level politican knows that you start out trying to get everything you want and THEN negotiate. Obama gave the game away from the get-go. Remember the pledge not to sign a bill without public option? What happened to that?”
The Happy Holistic replied on Oct 15, 2009 at 18:39:18
“I agree that this president is at least deliberative and thoughtful - unlike the rash Bush. That is a good thing. However, the people he has surrounded himself with - especially RAHMBO, really seem to run things and his decisions have been overwhelmingly for the status quo - both in domestic and foreign policy. If I had to say whether I feel he is really going along with the status quo and the "third Bush term", and just mouthing the "change" we want - OR he is just incredibly naive, I would have to lean to the former choice. Because he does appear to be smart and thoughtful. At least if he was naive he might be able to wise up.”

“I am really bemused by some of the comments coming from the right AND left regarding this award. It seems to me that some people are not only begrudging of it, but are belittling a committee that has recognized a sea change in our country's approach to foreign policy. Like most, I was surprised at the choice but, listening to the committee's chair, I understood the recognition. Many in the world breathed a sigh of relief when Obama was elected and were proud of what his election symbolized. Already, there have been huge changes in his approach to foreign policy, in the banning of torture, and in his willingness to listen. Perhaps Americans just do not realize what it means to other countries to have an American president who REALLY listens. Listening and speaking are acts in their own right, and so I say enough of the criticism--let the President say he doesn't deserve it, but please do not belittle anorther country's gesture!!”

I am now more concerned than ever about the amount of power held by the military over defense-contractor-compromised senators/representatives and ex-military pundits, not to mention its current members, over the legislative process. Is it because the military has the guns and the money? Is it lots of secret dirt that would politically crucify legislators? Is it just too damn lucrative? “It was this kind of warped, misinformed thinking that managed to get Bush re-elected for President (or was it re-selected?)--I lived in Texas for 16 years and it is a fact that the Governor is controlled by the Texas legislature and has little real power. How dare you even compare Bush with Obama--Bush could barely get a sentence out straight. He mangled grammar, words, and policy, and was a laughing stock in other countries. He sent more people to the death chamber in Texas than any one before him and, because of an unjust war he is responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of others. Most of the world sighed a big sigh of relief at the beginning of this year. It is only in the United States that there is such hatred expressed for Obama. This country has lost its soul.”
