Reform...at What Cost?
Commented Nov 24, 2009 at 15:57:09 in Politics
“I do not think that taxpayers should be paying for abortion. Maybe, if they had to pay for this procedure; they might think twice about it. I don't have insurance, so when I need medical attention or meds it comes directly out of my pocket. Abortion is legal, you just need to shell out the dough yourself.”

“Well dear, the Stupek bill is trying to fix it so that you could not do in with your own money even if you could/would. So don't get too high and mighty. I remember very well the 'clotheshanger' days and hearing or reading about the results of that. I think young women had to go to Sweden to have a legal abortion. Now could you do that.”
oregon bird replied on Nov 24, 2009 at 19:28:28
“Abortion is often a medical procedure in a life-threatening situation. And the fact that you cannot pay for an extended hospital stay, or for a catastrophic illness, kinda says something about your own life. It says, you'll be living off us one of these days. So... no pain meds for you... they're really just optional, after all. Scream quietly now.”

“Even without Stupak Pitts, taxpayers would not be paying for abortion. The point of Stupak Pitts is to keep women from getting insurance that covers abortion even when they are paying with their own money. As it is right now, and as it was in the Capps amendment, no federal taxpayer money was to go to abortions. Stupak Pitts is a blatant attempt to keep women from getting abortions they have paid for with their own money.”

The Assault on Choice
Commented Nov 10, 2009 at 21:49:00 in Politics
“We do not have insurance, it's not because we cannot afford it, it's because of pre-existing conditions per the insurance companies. As I was checking into trying another time to purchase insurance, I came across an insurance that stated that maternity coverage can be added to any Assurant Health or UnitedHealthOne plan for an extra charge. I just assumed maternity coverage was a part of any insurance policy. So if some insurance companies are charging extra for maternity coverage, why can't a person who finds the need to dispose of a human fetus (ie. baby) pay this disposal fee? Whether it was an accident or just unsafe sex, you are responsible for any monetary expenses for your actions. I don't think this is unreasonable, it's called responsible. Needless to say, I am 59 and do not need either of these services; if I did I would be responsible.”
House Health Care Bill: A Death Sentence For My Fellow Breast Cancer Survivors
Commented Nov 01, 2009 at 19:54:27 in Politics
“My mother is going to be 89 this year, she has had breast cancer three times. Each time it was a different type of cancer. Since there is history of breast cancer in my family, there is a chance myself and my daughters could also inherit this cancer. I am 59 years old, no insurance. I'm not sure if you can still get breast cancer if you have both breasts removed; i'll have to do some research. I'm tired of seeing my mother cut on time and time again to remove this killer. I believe since we don't have insurance the best thing to do is do away with them if it ever comes to that point. My daughter has lived in Israel and now resides in Canada; where they have healthcare for all. When they are sick they go to the doctor, no charge. If they need an operation, no charge. They do have to pay for dental since it is not included in healthcare. Maybe, I could just move to Canada and have dual citizenship. It's sad when it comes down to doing away with both breasts or moving to a country who provides healthcare for all there citizens. This is America!”

“This is America? These fools on Capital Hill are making laws that go hand in hand with drug companies and healthcare insurance companies. This is America? Go to Canada! When you need that Bilateral Modified Radical Mastectomy, you'll be back. If you don't have breast cancer, you won't get it because it is considered an elective procedure there and if you do have breast cancer, by the time you get the surgery, it will metastasize to your lungs by the time you get it. This is the problem, people like you rattle off at the fingertips without knowing what the hell you are talking about.
Do your research before you post.
Do you really think that this bill is going to help you? This bill is going to handcuff all of the working folk financially.
Since we are talking about these countries that provide free healthcare, let's talk about Britain.
Guess who doesn't do surgery after 4 p.m GMT? The Brits. You people kill me with your rhetoric. Do you really believe that John "Check My Pulse" Dingell really has an answer for this? Absolutely not! "I've been trying to get healthcare reform passed since 1955", says Dingell. Why don't you look at this fool's voting record and legislation introduced over the past 54 years. One good question is this...Why the hell has this guy been in government for 54 years?”

“What we have here are a bunch of sore losers. It doesn't matter what President Obama does, these losers will not have any of it. These are good values to pass on to your kids, if you lose; just take your toys and go home. It amounts to that. Keep the kids home from school, so big bad President Obama doesn't mess with their heads. I guess they think he will brainwash their darlings. Someone needs to give our kids encouragement. It never hurts to encourage kids to be the best they can be, stay in school and get that education you will need when you vie for that position. He is the by product of this concept. His mother woke him up at 4:00 a.m. every morning to work on his studies. Past presidents have given speeches to children in school ie. Regan and Bush #2. I don't remember the opposition calling foul. Could this possible be a double standard? If you have ever listened to President Obama, he stresses the need for a good education. He knows educaton is the key that can unlock many doors. He inherited a pile of dodo and he is working his behind off to try to get our country back on their feet. It would help, if our elected officials would work to solve their differences with each other and put our Country First, not their special interests; who grease their palms.”

I just do not understand, do they even listen to themselves. How stupid and immature they sound; these are really good values to pass down to their kids. President Regan and President Bush also gave speeches at the schools but I never once heard of parents getting irrate with school administors about their speeches. This seem like a double standard. I have voted for republican and democrats. I think it is high time we put on our thinking caps and make informed decisions. We go around the world, invade foreign countries and try to promote democracy; I say we should promote it at home. This man was elected to be our President for four years, suck it up. I sure can't see his wife staying with him, especially since Marie is his soul mate and he will try to fall back in love with his wife. It does make me made how he invokes God into this situation. When you sin, you are separted from God and he does not hear your prayers.”

I did not like him before he was caught, I surely don't care for him now. The fact that he was so prideful, he could not even say he lied to his staff about his wherabouts; he created a fiction. That sound's like a lie. He was so hot to trot, he did not even have a clue what was going on in his state.
So what if he had been president, would he have left the country in the learch while he was getting his rocks off with a married woman.
I think we should start looking more to women to run for governor and other positions in the government. They seem to be able to keep their pants on alot more than the men.
Who knows, maybe Jenny Sanford will run for governor and boot his behind out the door. His political career is toast.”

She said Israel's was better than Canada's but when they go to the doctor it is absolutely free. They do have to pay for the dentist and prescriptions. Why can't the US have healthcare for everyone if others do? I think we are denied healthcare because of money. Yes, money. If we have healthcare someones pockets wouldn't be greased. It's always about greed.”

You better believe your take home pay is going to be cut in half to begin with and eventually (if you live long enough under rationed healthcare) be eventually cut to a 40% take home pay. Can you pay your living expenses on that? Course, you will be able to take public transportation all over for free (since you won't be able to afford a car) and when you are a senior citizen there are all kinds of senior centers offering things that might appeal to you. (England tax rate = 65%, Sweden (cradle to the grave) 75% tax rate (and some even pay 105% unbelievable!) but cradle to the grave take care of you but no money in your pocket to invest. After all the scraps rot, he takes them and puts it into the garden and tills it. You could also use them to go around your plants, flowers, etc.
Thirty years ago my mother-in-law also had a compost bucket in her kitchen. She was way ahead of her time. She lived on a farm so I guess that was were she learned about composting. My mother-in-law never threw anything away, she always used it for something.

So tell me how about if I claim that my God promised me the land? And then Tom Cruise comes along and says the God of Scientology promised it to him? And so on and so forth. Whose God should we listen to? Should they all battle it out and the winner's people get to keep the land?”

Nobody is favored by fate to a better existence then others because of a book that has been rewritten several times for political reasons. Isrealis and Palestineans desearve better then what their getting as of late. What are you going to pull next, telling me the easter bunny is real. Get over your ridiculous delusions, or at least don't embarass yourself further on this lefty blog.”

“If you read your Bible you would see that since the time God gave Israel the land there have been very few years that they actually ruled it. It has been under many many rulers. Some were benign some were oppressive. Nowhere in the old testament and certainly not in the new testament does God ever say "why are these Romans hanging around here?". He was more concerned about them keeping the Israeli nation/Identity intact. That means abiding by the laws and edicts that have been passed down.”

“I did read the bible and realized that it was not ordained by God. Had it been, God would have told those ancients that the world was not flat but spherical. What is obvious is that so called guys that designated themselves as being divine were, psychologically, fooling themselves. We humans made God in or own image, then Jews ,conveniently, suggested that this, so called God, designated Jews are God's chosen people and that their land was Israel. How ****** convenient.”

Obama's Impressive Recovery

“Congratulations to President Obama on his news conference, it was such a change to actually hear someone intelligent answering the questions.
At least President Obama is trying to help our country get out of this mess.
The republicans have a plan for failure, even if it tears this country apart.”

“Israeli government is defending itself. My daughter and her family lived in Israel back in 2000. Everytime I heard on the news of a bombing in Israel I called my daughter to make sure they were ok. I remember when the Pizza place my daughter and her family use to eat at got bombed. I don't remember how many people were killed or injured but these people were just eating out and were bombed. It's called terrorism in the USA and it has been going on for a long time in Israel. She would never go to the market were alot of people gathered because that was one place where they liked to bomb, busy markets. Thank God my daughter and her family live in Canada now.

“So just how many people have to suffer and die so you and your family can feel safe? How many Palestinian lives does it take to equal the worth of your own life, in your eyes?”

“Open up your mind and educate yourself with the facts. There are reasons why the Palestinians are fighting back, they are retaliating against their oppressors. The Israeli's are the occupiers, saying they are retaliating is the western propaganda that we have been fed. Israel has US billions and a full complement of military weapons, including WMD's. They are the attackers. People who retaliate are typically NOT the same people who are the occupiers, think about it. They don't call it the Occupation for nothing!!!
Look at the statistics, many many more Palestinians are routinely killed compared to the numbers of dead Israeli's. Human Rights violations are a way of life for the IDF. Why do you think they are fighting back?? Israel collectively punishes people by withholding medical care, electricity, food and water. Look up water rights in Gaza, it's all very eye opening and sad.”

“I'm glad that your daughter is safe, but did she understand that while she was living in Israel persumably because she's Jewish and can immigrate there, Palestinians are regularly kicked off their ancestral land to make room for new Jewish immigrants? Is this fair?”
A Letter to Sarah Palin from God

“Amen!
Every since Sister Sarah has been on the scene she has been mean spirited and lied about Obama. I agree, if she was a true Christian she should not bear false witness against her brother in Christ. She is a cafeteria Christian, she picks and chooses which of God's laws to obey. She gives every Christian a bad name. I don't understand why the Christian Right are crazy for her. I guess they need to dust off their Bible.”

McCain Campaign: Our Health Plan Doesn't Work
Commented Oct 28, 2008 at 19:51:41 in Politics
“My husband and I are both 58 years old, since he does not have a job; we have no health insurance. It's crazy, when we were younger we always had health care since we each had jobs. His Cobra has run out and we have no insurance. We tried to get health insurance but have been turned down several times because of existing conditions. He got hurt at our Church in May. This injury resulted in a blood clot. He was in the hospital for a week. The actual bill was 70,000 but since we did not have health insurance it was lowered. In the end, we paid about 30,000 to the hospital and about 8,000 for various doctors, labs, etc. If Senator Obama gets elected, I would welcome any healthcare that can be made available to us.
I voted for Obama and he voted for McCain.”

“I, too, think that Obama would be more receptive to passing medicare for all. He talked about what his mother went through with her insurance company not wanting to pay in her time of need. When you need these insurance companies the most, they don't want to know you. They only want to know you, for the most part, when you are young and healthy. If you have a pre-existing condition, they will not cover you. The only way insurance companies make money is to deny care. The term "insurance" shouldn't even be used because when you need them the most, they're not there. Passing HR 676 is the only way to go.”
