That being said I'm mad as hell about my tax dollars going to a bunch of arrogant Bankers. As a pragmatist I glad that we don't have a warmonger who's going to trash the environment in power however.”

Master of the Senate is the most compelling.

But you should start at the beginning. One whole volume is about the 1948 Senate election.

Landslide Lyndon.

I think LBJ is the most fascinating President since Lincoln. The contradictions are everywhere.”

Granted, they were great songs--'Masters of War', 'The Times, They Are A-Changin'', 'With God On Our Side'--but they were outshone by later compositions like 'Mr. Tambourine Man' and 'Visions of Johanna'.”

For Roman Polanski

Commented Oct 27, 2009 at 20:17:33 in Entertainment

“One thing nobody seems to take into effect is the condition of the people involved thirty years later. Your not just sentencing Mr. Polanski but a father who's entire family is going to be impacted. For what the girl involved is now a full grown woman and doesn't seem to be evincing any outward signs of damage besides probably having made money from going on TV and being interviewed. Is justice just suppose to be about revenge.”

PavePusher replied on Oct 27, 2009 at 22:09:46

I guess That Animal should have reflected on the possible outcomes prior to commiting a horrendous crime. Huh, maybe he did, and just didn't care.

And your grammer should be a crime.”

For Roman Polanski

Commented Oct 27, 2009 at 20:13:15 in Entertainment

“From what I've heard there were extenuating circumstances. The mother was involved, he served the initial sentence but the judge reneged and demanded a different sentence. Everybody who opines about this case tries frame it in black and white terms which just confuses things more.”

tkondaks replied on Oct 28, 2009 at 00:52:11

“You've got bad sources, Economike.

Go to thesmokinggun dot com and search "Samantha Geimer Grand Jury testimony" and "Roman Polanski plea bargain testimony" and then get back to us.”

PavePusher replied on Oct 27, 2009 at 22:05:09

“There are "extenuating circumstances" for RAPING A 13-YEAR OLD GIRL?

You, sir , are one sick animal.”

JShankel replied on Oct 27, 2009 at 20:52:17

“None of what you've heard is substantiated.

"Wanted and Desired" has been largely discredited. The key witness in the film to the alleged judicial misconduct has recanted.

The judge did NOT reneg on anything, as Polanski has never been sentenced. The time he spent under psychiatric evaluation was not part of a sentence, but part of a plea agreement that Polanski reneged on by leaving the country.

And even if the victim's mother pimped her overtly to Polanski, that is not in any way a mitigating factor. Even if the girl threw herself at Polanski, he's still guilty of unlawful sex.”

weatherwaxx replied on Oct 27, 2009 at 20:36:33

“Go hunt down the transcript - it's here on HuPo somewhere. Her testimony is pretty clear. He let her talk to her mother while she was modeling for photos, THEN got her drunk and drugged and raped her. I think the mother should've been charged as an accomplice, but Polanski's guilt is undeniable... and he did plead guilty when it was dressed up in non-felony language.”

pederstriannw replied on Oct 27, 2009 at 20:31:11

“Polanski ran from the possibility of a harsher sentence. There was no proof that his sentence would have been anything other than the 90 days evaluation, since he did not show up at his sentencing.”
