Senator Nader? Former Presidential Candidate Considers Connecticut Run In 2010
Commented Nov 28, 2009 at 01:45:11 in Politics
“What a childishly denialistic re-working of the narrative.
Nader could have had his campaign. Delivered his message. Built his movement. Set it up for bigger and better things in the future. And a few days before election day, dropped out, endorsed Gore, and encouraged his supporters to do the same.
It wouldn't have diminished his cause one iota. In fact, he would be in a vastly stronger and more credible position of power today had he done so.
But he failed to do this. And in failing he torpedoed his own movement.
He chose his belligerent ego over the greater good of America and of the world. And he will go down as one of the most damagingly selfish men in all of modern human history.”

“Nonsense and sour grapes. You didn't work hard enough for your candidate in 2k and now you secretly wish us all beholden to what you clearly know now without any doubt are the agents of very corrupt financial system, Wall Street.
If there is any fail here it is you and your ilk who refuse to change state ballot access, remain wishy-washy on CFR, refuse top demand that the private corporate presidential debates be eliminated and rightfully given back to the League of Women Voters.
You support this corrupt duopoly because you lack morals, ethics and principles like those you support in a corrupt party that allowed us into a war of lies, the dismantling of our constitution and the bill of rights and the thrift of our national treasure.
I resent that fact that you regard me as a second class citizen because of who I choose to vote for in a free society.
If you want to talk about egos you might want to check yours at the door.”

“What a stupid comment! What makes it obviously stupid is that no one would ever do such a thing. Your whole premise is absurd and based on what you think Ralphs plan and his agenda was. Nader's agenda was to be President. That is why he ran. He didn't run to be a power broker or a spoiler. He ran because he was the best man for the job. He is still the best man for the job and it isn't his movement. It is a grassroots movement unlike the teabaggers and it is continuing to grow. You wouldn't know that because you are still stuck in the past which Nader isn't. Too bad you don't know anything about him. Try wikipedia. Betyter yet, you read a couple of his books. He is the real deal, an American treasure. He makes Obama look like a schoolboy and a pretender.”

“Actually his legacy is anything but that of a "damaging" and selfish man. How many lives have been saved because of his fight for seat belts and other consumer protections?
Also, even if he had dropped out and asked his supporters to vote for Gore, why should they? Gore ran a horrible campaign, even losing his own state of Tennessee.
I guess it is so much easier to blame this on Nader than on the Democratic candidate. Gives one an easy scapegoat.”

All of it sadly based on childish partisan vanity. Those votes Nader got in Florida never belonged to Al Gore.”

“"selfish, egomaniacal crimes against humanity' .. a bit strong if you believe in democracy, and if you do, every party has the right to vote for the candidate of its choice. The fact that many Democrats as well as Green Party members decided to vote for Nader was not the problem. The problem was Gore's inability to attract voters. I mean, he couldn't even win his own state!
If you want a different outcome, then the system has to be changed to one that is similar to Australia's; instant runoff. You get to choose more than one candidate and if your candidate does not have the votes to achieve a majority, those votes will go to your second choice. So, if this system had been in place, maybe Gore would have won but then, maybe not. Who is to say that Gore would have been the automatic second choice of those who voted for Nader? Only those who are "selfish and egomaniacal".”

Obama was the last one I will ever vote for and I don't care if anyone blames me for "electing" a Republicans. I see my real choice as either voting for people who do not accept corporate money or no vote at all. Voting for Democrats and Republicans is a vote for the current thieving system.”

It's ridiculous to say that because something is government run that it will be a failure. The United States of America has produced more than a few successes. Knee-jerk anti-government positions help no one. It's just anti-intellectualism.”

Bill Clinton Blasts Olbermann For Politicizing Health Care Event, Refuses To Go

“Yet another misleading HuffPost headline. Clinton didn't "blast" Olbermann for politicizing the event. Olbermann is perfectly within decorum to present it however he likes.
Clinton simply said that because it was a political event it wouldn't be appropriate for him to be there- implying that as a former Democratic president, he wouldn't want to give the impression of an endorsement in what may turn into a Democratic Primary.
He wasn't "blasting" Olbermann. He was upholding the tradition of former Presidents.”

“That's not how I ever read it. That evening, there were unrelenting hecklers who simply hurt Michael Richard's feelings. Plain and simple; his feeling were hurt. And his response was to say that "how would you like it if I said really mean things to you that would hurt your feelings? How would that make you feel?" Did he do it in a clumsy and (after a cocktail or two) belligerent way? Of course. Nobody denies that, including him. But his comments didn't come from "deep seeded resentment." They came from a poor attempt at showing them how it felt to have something hurtful and mean said to them. His point wasn't that he meant those words. His point was to attempt to show them how it felt to have one's feelings attacked. Inartful? Yes. Wrongheaded? Yes. Racist? No. The guy deserves atonement.”

Do the math. This means that 99.9993% are foreigners. You can challenge the numbers in your tin foil hat if you like. But that doesn't address the point.
The point is that, given that the evidence in its own reporting is true, Huffington Post's title is written to frighten people and create false hysteria.”
