Redskins, Rams Trade Draft Picks, Likely Sending Robert Griffin III To Washington: REPORT

Redskins, Rams Trade Draft Picks, Likely Sending Robert Griffin III To Washington: REPORT

Commented Mar 10, 2012 at 08:46:52 in Sports

“Wow ... looks like a repeat of the Hershal Walker trade that doomed the vikings for a decade and allowed dallas to build a dynasty. All this for a unproven hybrid quarterback. At least Walker was a proven commodity. I guess Washington and Philly fans can look forward a game in which the running backs can take a day off while Vick and Griffin try to out duel each other for yards & TD's.”

“RG3 will be one of the top QBs in the league for the next decade: smart, poised, great arm, great speed. He's going to be much better then Andrew Luck.”

LFox6 on Mar 10, 2012 at 09:01:24

“Well, with Grossman's perfomance last year, we've got nuttin' to lose. I was hoping yet fearful they'd try to nab Peyton - he is such an unknown quantity now with that neck injury, it'd be horrible if they spent even tons more money and we still ended up with no viable QB. At least now we can hold our heads up proudly having nabbed the Heiseman winner and the #1 draft pick. When you're a Redskins fan, you take what u can get - but at least we can never be called frontrunners lol”

“Banks should have readjusted the value of the homes and refinanced at fixed rate. So instead of have a slightly smaller revenue stream , they have little or nothing, while those assests values continue to spiral downward. They knew the values were overstated from the onset and in the case of WaMu, the bank itself had its own appraisers raise it even higher before they sold these packaged mortages to a second party. Those adjustable rate time bombs with balloon payments were set up to fail. Banks have so much of their net worth tied up in these mortage assests that they just can't stomach the idea. Its like admitting to the rest of the world your a lot poorer then you claim to be. They would have to slash their books and expose their continued over leveraged position and again they know this that is why so little of the bailout money has been made available. They are padding their income statements.”

“great article. Even though I am not an ecomomic expert , I was always puzzled by the logic behind the idea that when the nation is in a deep economic crisis and the structure and fabric of its society is falling apart that is the time to cut social spending and make the people suffer even more. Furthur more I find it amazing that they go after and prosecute the individuals who scam their rich investors with ponzi schemes, but rich financial institutions and the directors who created this financial mess have yet to face any criminal charges. American business have no interest in bring jobs back into this country if they can make a bigger margin by outsourcing or having it produced overseas . ie Apple products = 500,000 employed chinese workers. sold in the US at a substancial mark-up, looks good on wallstreet, but doesn't do anything for mainstreet, ie Nike. list goes on.”

“Problem with Greece wasn't a lack of austerity , they are far from being the wealthest nation in the EU. Their problem was they DIDN'T collect taxes. Borrow, spend , borrow spend. Like running up your credit card when you don't have a job ( source of revenue) . Greeces debt is only 1/4 the size of Spains , 1/7th the size of Italys, and only 1/11 the size of Frances. The difference is those other countries is they have a tougher tax collecting system. The only country in the EU that has a surplus is Germany. Tough bank regulations, pro-union , free college , free medical , 60 days mandatory vacation per year. 18 euros is the minimum wage. The moral to the story is its okay to spend money as long as you have the tax base to support it. What you chose to spend the money on also impacts the welfare of the nation. 1/2 of the annual military budget and everyone in this country would have free medical care.”

“Well all those people who are buying into the cloud computing, and Apples closed "i "system are going to be in for a rude surprise in the not so distant future. The shift to internet has been going on for a while so being a free market society its just a matter of time before you will be paying monthly fees to access your cloud stored data and cloud driven software. Its been a slow shrewd move by Microsoft and Apple to start securing a steady source of revenue instead of relying on PC and software development cycles. Apples pursuit of a TV adds additional revenue potential. You all dont actually believe Apple is going to give you internet TV access from one of their products for free do you ? Cable showed how to dominate local markets so it should come as a surprise when these two hi tech giants follow suit.”

Maxx Cognos on Dec 30, 2011 at 15:26:14

“Anyone can have their own personal cloud. You don't need to pay Microsoft or Apple for anything unless you want to. Plus there are new cloud services popping up constantly so there's plenty of competition, unlike cable tv. Check out PogoPlug, Western Digital or Seagate for ways anyone can set up their own external hard drive, accessible from the Web. No corporate entity can nail you for that...except the internet providers and their incessant greedy usage caps.”

Iowa: The Longest Yard

Commented Jan 2, 2012 at 12:01:11 in Politics

“I whole heartly agree with this article. Iowa is vastly overated as demographic template for the rest of this nation. It seems like the caucus's primary functions is to vet out " Are they conservative enough ", Can we feel assured that the candidate values will hark us back to the time of the Pilgrams ?". The fact that the leaders in the polls changes almost weekly demonstrates to me the hypocracy in their own judgement. The only thing that I have gotten from watching interviews with the citizens attending caucus's is their determination to over turn Roe vs Wade , retry the Scopes case, and turn this country into a intolerant non secular nation.”

“I find it dishearting to read that some people have used this tragedy as a platform to debate gun control in the national park. I live 40 miles from Mt Rainier. The person involved had been involved in another shooting earlier New Y's day and was fleeing from the law. Unlike the majority of this nation we have large tracts of rugid forests where felons often flee to hideout. The visitor center is 5,500 ft above sea level and covered in snow. All roads end at the Paradise visitor center and it at the timbeline level so he will either freeze to death or get caught very soon trying to flee. The guy had body armor and multiple assualt rifles. He plans on making a last stand.”

Taking the Global Economy Hostage

Commented Jan 1, 2012 at 00:17:24 in World

“prices are set by speculators, it is bought and sold as a commodity and futures by traders. production cost is $35-40, wallstreet and global trading markets hold almost 80 percent of all the oil futures. Airlines and shipping companys held the majority in the past. Also even though its a "free market" supply contracts and geo-political agreements determines who gets the oil.”

Taking the Global Economy Hostage

Commented Dec 31, 2011 at 15:29:10 in World

“I am glad we get 73% of our oil from the North Slope , Mexico and Canada, only 14 percent from 5 different middle east nations. 6% from various others ( indonesa ), with ethanol filling in the gap. Otherwise the only countries really being held hostage is the European economy. The speculators are the ones holding the economy hostage. The Saudi's themselves have admitted that 60% of the cost of a barrel is from specualtors driving up the cost. Everytime sabres get rattled prices skyrocket and economys grind to a slowdown. Our own domestic fuel consumption has been on a steady decline for the last 2 years but prices at the pump haven't reflected this. I agree with the US calling Irans bluff in a supporting role for NATO like they did with Lybia (which by the way has agreed to massive concessions to get its oil exports increased ) . The true threat Iran imposses is creating economic collapse for those other oil producing arab nations that rely on oil exports for their economic stability.”

Iran Is Threatening to Block the Strait of Hormuz -- Don't Call Its Bluff

Commented Dec 31, 2011 at 12:47:41 in World

“Not calling their bluff is pretty much the same as letting the school bully get their way all the time. Allowing a rogue government to threaten its neighbors and undermine the security of the region is exactly how WW11 got started. Chamberlin negotiated with Hitler and allowed himself and the rest of the world to believe they tamed the agressive nature of their european neighbor. I am sure we all know how that turned out. Iran because of its strategic location and the extreme idiology of its government poses a huge global threat. That being said , The US does not get any of its oil from Iran so there is no reason other than its military superiority for it to get involved. Just like they play a background role supporting for NATO in Lybia, they could and should play a background supporting role if any of their middle east allies decide to confront the issue. Even though the bluff implys that Iran would be shooting itself in the foot if it blocked the straits in needs for it own economic survival , it also means all the other Arab nations who rely on oil exports would have their economys come crashng down as well. Now you have a real serious escalation that could engulf the entire region into a major war.”

If Iran Moves, the USA Has No Plan for an Oil Interruption

Commented Dec 29, 2011 at 13:03:09 in World

“Since you continue to perpetrate the myth of our dependency on mid-east oil , let me take this moment to remind you we get less than 14% of our oil from the middle east , divided up among 9 different countrys. Iran is going though economic sanctions and it needs the flow of oil for its own economic and military survival. Its this right wing, get tough pro military, war mongering republican ideals that will lead us into another conflict. Iran is playing poker and bluffing with only a pair of duces. It is using this to distract US and international pressure from Syria and lure american warships into a potential fatal incounter. Lets not forget many of the countrys in the Arab league monitoring syria export their oil through the straits.”
