“Ehmm... in case you hadn't noticed, the question about "what Obama should say" is a rhetorical one. Can you say "rhetorical?"”

“It's about g-d.amn time Obama said something.
Now let's see him DO something, like actually present legislation for the equal good of all, including protection of our human rights and of our physical well-being.
C'mon, Obama! Time to stop blabbing start acting...Do the right thing.”

I think there are two truly beautiful first ladies we've had: Michelle Obama and Jacqueline Kennedy.
It's so odd that certain segments of the press insist on maligning Michelle Obama's clothing. She could wear a potato sack and make it look good.”

“So many, many thanks for publicizing and honoring the day of this historic event and for honoring the victims and the Chinese population. This happening changed my own life in a deeper way than most people might understand, and many people like me had to restructure their plans and their hopes.
I no longer have any wish to return to my original plans of so long ago, or indeed to live in the People's Republic of China, but this memory of twenty long years ago brings hot tears to my eyes.”

“I'm rather interested to see this piece published but... Doesn't anyone else even REMEMBER the little volume printed in the 1970s, "Diet for a Small Planet"?? This book changed my outlook completely on things and on the way we live and use energy. Even though I'm no longer vegetarian, I've got to say, "Come on!!" This is nothing new, and I'm greatly saddened to see that that great little book seemingly had such a tiny effect.”

“trueconserv, I am SO pleased you read the Huffington Post! This shows that at least you try to expand your idealistic horizons, and I do appreciate and applaud your honesty. However, Rob is not saying that our founding fathers tried to "get rid of religion." Not in the slightest! Our founding fathers were largely deists, NOT Christians, so you can shun that from your set of ideas right away.
Read the writings these founders produced, and read the biographies about them. You will see clearly: they did NOT strive to flush religion out of the country, but rather to produce a new way of thinking that was more in sync with the teachings of the monotheistic leaders of ancient. This was ALLL in perfect harmony with the new thoughts of their time, the Age of Enlightenment. The United States of America contained the seed of enlightenment from its incipient moments, and we are constantly evolving politically in a fashion that moves towards the possible ultimate manifestation of enlightenment.
I am proud of our American heritage of thought and idealism, because, contrary to our national actions, we have time and again overcome the shortcomings of human nature.
As for gay marriage, the ancient, early church DID allow such unions. Read your history, trueconserve. Few Americans do so.”

Guess that would be hard to imagine for most folks, since we've been living in the past eight years of oligarchy.”

“Although Obama is trying to create an atmosphere of bipartisanship, it simply won't work. The GOP is just too evil. The party has rotted from the inside out, and needs to die the slow, suicidal death it is currently experiencing. Hopefully a tri-partisan system (or quadrapartisan) system will replace this foul way of politics that has evolved in the United States.”
Citizen4honor replied on Feb 18, 2009 at 01:09:41
“I think both parties are too concerned with themselves. Didn't Pelosi lock the Republicans out of the conference meetings. Obama did go to them and said he'd like their ideas. The ideas then were give to Pelosi who did not let the Republicans in on any discussions.
The Republicans did the same during Bush years - locking DEMs out of meetings.
We the American people are getting ripped off. Each party is concerned about the next election.
I think we deserve better. I don't see this as a DEM or GOP issue - it goes both ways.”

“Unfortunately it is no longer a two party system, but a two faction system. Each side is locked into one way of thinking and is unwilling to bend. Those that break with the party line are branded as traitors rather than persons willing to express independent thought. Even this past election showed Sen. McCain, too moderate to please the Conservatives and Sen. Obama. too moderate to please the Liberals.
I applaud President Obama's effort to try bipartisanship, but neither side semed willing to bend and the votes showed that as almost all Democrats voted for the stimulus and all Republicans voted against the stimulus.”

“So there you have it: an admission that the current American political system does not work.
Your ideas are interesting, but what sort of system shall we use now? The country will be forced to create something bordering on an attempt at equal distribution. The present system of allowing those who are daring enough to lie, steal, cheat, and show their way into financial and political gain will no longer be tolderated by the greater public, as proven by the November 4th elections.”

i'm suggesting limiting the size of government because i know that humans are greedy, and will exploit the powers of government... and will do it in the name of altruism. And i'm suggesting we stick firmly to the rule of law, so that the altruists can't bend it to their own political goals. No rightist is a fan of exploitative capitalism... we're more interested in making sure one human does not harm another.
THAT is our preferred system”
